    You are doing great with the chickens, it still blows my mind that you do this! One day you will drive a semi with a flatbed trailer farm in the winter. I’m sure of this 😊

    You must not ever suffer from depression because you’re always going and doing and seeing. I have NEVER heard of traveling chickens before. Lol. I mean I grew up on a farm with chickens but the thought never crossed my mind. It entertains me. Your gardens are incredible and all that you can do and accomplish amazes me.

    The way my 4 hens operate is 2 or 3 of them lay from March through say November/December then take their winter break. Phyllis, Myrtle, Goldie and Shirley. I inherited 6 when i bought Old HIppieland in 2020 but have lost Lucy and Laverne to whatever chickens die from. So me aka Angry Old HIppie, Lil Butt my cat and the 4 hens are happy living on the West Slope of Colorado. Glad y'all are headed home. Looking forward to spending the summer watching you grow the homestead. Peace Out.

    We stayed at an Airbnb in Cottonwood the month of January and we made lots of trips over to Dead Horse state Park…..we absolutely LOVED IT! Beautiful park and we heard the lagoons are stocked every two weeks with fish. Not sure if that’s done just in winter or year round. A bald Eagle made it his fav spot too, for fishing! 🦅

    Chickens lol I didnt know you had chickens too funny. I bought my 1st trailer 2 months ago, only 20 feet but already selling it..too much time consuming maintenence and driving back to campsite every night on longnisland. Once a week I have to switch campgrounds 10 miles and its nerve racking driving it. I'm gona go back to my suv and 2 hotels a week for $750 month wasn't bad

    There is ALWAYS a dominant hen if no rooster. It always takes a while a while to establish a 'pecking order'. It's also normal that that the older hen attempts to take charge. Once they ALL realize who is in charge, the being mean to each other will pass. Hens laying eggs is seasonal event. They don't lay while molting (their body preparing for winter mode) . Since chickens go to bed naturally around dusk and you don't have to gather them up, since your 'traveling' hens are captive I was wondering if you arehaving to 'catch' them and put them into their travel space. ..Just wondering :-)

    • @rvpandamonium
      @rvpandamonium  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, they always seem to put themselves up when the run is by the coop, but in this case, yes, because the chicken run was separated.

    If Phoenix is pecky maybe it’s because she’s broody? I don’t remember, it’s been a long time since I’ve lived with chickens, lol. But it’s just as likely it’s like you all said, she’s older and is just establishing the “pecking order” lol. Can’t wait to see how your garden is doing! ❤

      I respectfully disagree. If you are comparing the chickens living conditions with those that live at a Perdue factory, Ausia's setup is better. I was not at all impressed with how the chickens travel in carriers, and that cubby in the back of her rig. If Ausia was stationary, I'm sure she would have a nice coop with the chickens able to scratch and forage, spread their wings, take dust baths, and establish their own pecking order. I would rather see her chickens remain stationary, perhaps at the "property" in the care of the Nomad Ranch couple, while Ausia is busy traveling an providing entertainment and content to her viewers. Ausia, do better.

    Chickens lay for 2 - 3 years. They call it a clutch of eggs, not a litter.ost hens lay regularly for about 3 years. They will still lay on occasion but most become broody and want to sit on eggs and raise chicks, which I love. Way easier to let momma teach them everything, even though they are born knowing what to do and how to be chooks.
