  • Join the Bobblehead George crew for a look at Montpelier Station located in Orange County, Virginia. The 1910 Train Depot gives visitors a glimpse into the African American struggle for Civil Rights. The train station, preserved to represent what it would have looked like during the Jim Crow era, is located adjacent to the gates of James Madison's Montpelier.

I was wondering why someone would build a train station on James Madison’s property in the 1920’s - and apparently this man William du Pont (of the famous du Pont family) was put in charge of a large section of the Wilmington and Delaware railroad and basically built this train station for himself so he could travel to and from work. Amazing. So rich he bought the former presidents home (plantation) and built himself a train station.
And it stands as an amazing and stark reminder of that horrible policy of forced separation.
