Life long Alaskan, Denali and I have been having a summer of our own this year! Gulkana Glacier, Castner Glacier, Tabletop Mountain, Valdez, Whittier, Cordova. Friday morning we’re heading to the Kenai for Silver Salmon fishing from a drift boat! And then catching the Ferry from Whittier to Valdez as I don’t want to drive the Seward both ways, make a circle back to Fairbanks.
Awesome video, almost immediately I contacted my youngest brother to see about organizing a trip to Alaska. We have a little bit of history on Alaska so we'll see if the Lord allows; Victor M Bejarano Jr. US Navy veteran (I'm the only one in our immediate family that's been up to Alaska; one of our uncle's worked on the Alaskan pipeline)
I’ve just been back from Alaska and must say your videos embody the feeling I had. I am curious though, how did you manage to fly a drone over Seward highway, around the Turnagain arm. That has a state park sign as soon as we enter the area. Is there a permit we can get? I’d love to fly a drone there someday.
Hi Suraj, we are so happy you are enjoying our videos, thanks for watching! So this is from pilotinstitute.com Chugach State Park Alaska State Regulations prohibit the use of aircraft for the purpose of practice landing within Chugach State Park. However, this law does not explicitly prohibit the use of drones in the park as long as you avoid the restricted actions. Similar rules apply to other state parks in Alaska.
Love the videos so far. I grew up in Alaska, but haven’t been back in a long time. One question I have, how is the cellular service in Canada and Alaska? Keep the videos coming. 😊 Please be careful on the side roads, I don’t want you getting stuck. And you should have covered the bus, the weight and exposure of the snow may damage the solar panels and roof.
Hi there! Happy you're enjoying the videos! The cell service was pretty solid throughout Canada, but we couldn't get proper data service through Canadian cell companies, so we used the international plan on our cellphones and then invested in Starlink, which gave us amazing internet. Cell service drops out on the Alcan except when you're in towns. So far the cell service (verizon at least) in Alaska has been pretty good! In the winter it was faster, but now in the tourist season it seems to slow down a bit, which makes sense with all the extra people pulling on the towers.
What was the name of the campground where you stayed in Talkeetna? I'm in Anchorage now and will be heading that way soon! Looks like you posted the first name of the campground was "Sunshine" but I couldn't read the rest of it. Thanks for your wonderful video 🙂
Hey Tricia! We’re actually parked there right now! Moving the bus tonight though, so unfortunately we’ll miss you! It is called Sunshine Creek Fishing Access. I’ll try to add an exact location pin here on TH-cam 👍👍
Good question Jason! We use iOverlander - it's a free app that shows tons of places to boondock (also paid camping) + dump stations + propane refill. It's based upon user input, and it is fantastic. We can see how recently people have stayed there, what they say about cell service, conditions, if big rigs will fit, etc. It's awesome!! We've used it from the start of our journey (starting in 2019) and it's never failed us.
We kept our sailboat in Valdez for a couple of years before leaving Alaska and sailing to Seattle. A winter in Seward does not sound fun to me. Too many winters in Alaska. No more shoveling snow for me.
That’s understandable! We are aware that part of our enchantment with Alaskan winters is due to the fact that we haven’t loved them over and over and over. But man, a sailboat in VALDEZ. That must have pretty awesome. And the trip down, wow! Must have been quite a journey. Beautiful coastline.
My previous treks to alaska-Yukon has always been in June but this time I'm taking à road trip from Spokane thru BC , Yukon, and Alaska. Im leaving Aug 9th for 30 days. You mentioned freezing roads. When was this video taken? It says up load 1 month ago but was this actually taken last September?
Hi there, Yes, the footage on this video is from late September last year, we are a little behind in our travel vlog😬. If you are traveling from August to early September you don't have to worry about frozen roads. Hope you have an amazing trip, August and September are great months to do this trip. Hopefully you'll get to see the Fall colors in full force🙂
It was actually shot mostly with a GoPro 10 and a Mavic 2 Pro drone...BUT, we highly recommend the DJI Action 4. We switched to that about halfway through the season and wished we had switched sooner. For a couple reasons. The GoPro was notoriously glitchy for us - took forever to connect with the phone, froze at the worst times, battery really stunk at holding a charge, and the color profile was completely different from the drone (which made Jose's job harder editing color). Switching to the Action 4 fixed all that. It connects to the phone quickly, every time (that's how we get shots of the bus from behind - we put the DJI on the car with a magnetic mount). The battery holds its charge even in extreme cold and heat. It never freezes/needs rebooting. And the color profile matches the drone. I promise we're not getting paid extra to promote the Action 4 or anything, we just can't sing its praises enough. Every time we have the opportunity to steer someone away from the headache of GoPros and to Action line, we do!
@ thank you so much for your response. I just bought dji osmo pocket 3 to start shooting some really cool video. Love your channel. Keep up the great work
@@ArtWeThereYet Valdez is on the Gulf of Alaska. We drove down there after leaving Seward. We didn't like Seward at all!! We were at Valdez during the Salmon run....all the creeks were Red with Salmon! Your filming is awesome!
Well there’s no BAD time to visit Alaska, but truthfully our personal favorite time is March. Wintertime but lots of sunshine and clear days. If you want to come in the warmer months, we recommend July as there will be a higher chance of warm, sunny days. September is rainy, so avoid September if you don’t like the rain!
Ah-ha, that is the big question! We get that one a lot ☺️ So the car...it's a long story. But basically, it was supposed to die like almost 3 years ago. It was given to us because the mechanic said it might have two days, two weeks, MAYBE two months before it died. BUT...since then...it just keeps running! Every light in the dash is on, nothing works 'properly', yet it just keeps running. We hate driving two vehicles, but a Prius can't be flat-towed, so we would need a dolly for it. The cost, plus the logistics of having a tail added to the bus just isn't worth it for a car that costs less than the tow system (and could really die any minute). We park the bus in some tiiiight spaces, so having a dolly would really be tricky for us. We've considered selling the car for a towable vehicle, but with the cost of used cars right now... Every time we come to a crossroads with the car, we do the math and it's just so much cheaper to drive the Prius (costs barely anything in gas). Every season, we keep thinking the car will die. Who knows, maybe this summer will be it! We hope not! We hope it survives just long enough to get us through our time in Alaska. Then when we head south, we hope we can get a flat-towable jeep. That's the hope! Anyway, that's the long story about Sancho! 🤪🚙
Hey there! Normally we do, but this wasn't an official campground so we didn't think to. For future videos, we will probably note the location of our cool boondocking spots though!
@@ArtWeThereYet Oh! Why the question mark? Is English your native language, I was only under the impression as to otherwise due to a very slight accent. In any case I apologize whole heartedly.

@@ArtWeThereYet It's exact translation is " enjoyed your work, Awesome!"

On iOverlander it is called “Sunshine River”
Remember the episodes of Sergeant Preston of the Yukon with his companion King.
Sounds like interesting history!
How do you guys fined you places to sleep along the way would love to do a trip like this
Good question Jason!
You tube brought me here
Glad it did! Welcome!
Hi there,
Yes, the footage on this video is from late September last year, we are a little behind in our travel vlog😬.
If you are traveling from August to early September you don't have to worry about frozen roads. Hope you have an amazing trip, August and September are great months to do this trip. Hopefully you'll get to see the Fall colors in full force🙂
Lonely video. Is it all shot on dji camera from your description?

When was this filmed? So it's fall in Alaska by June??
Hi there, thanks for watching! This was filmed late September 2022. We are quite behind in the production of our videos😬
Can you tell me what month y’all were doing this trip?
We did this trip in late September :)

Thank you!
You missed a lot if you didn't go to VALDEZ. IT'S AMAZING.......😅
Agreed! We’re actually hoping we can live there this winter!!!
So if you have any cabin hookups, let us know 😊
@@ArtWeThereYet Valdez is on the Gulf of Alaska. We drove down there after leaving Seward. We didn't like Seward at all!! We were at Valdez during the Salmon run....all the creeks were Red with Salmon! Your filming is awesome!
so the best time to go is summer?!
Well there’s no BAD time to visit Alaska, but truthfully our personal favorite time is March. Wintertime but lots of sunshine and clear days. If you want to come in the warmer months, we recommend July as there will be a higher chance of warm, sunny days. September is rainy, so avoid September if you don’t like the rain!
kool
Thank you!😊
@ Alaska
I have to ask - why don’t you get a trailer for the car?
@@ArtWeThereYetwow that is a wow built car. Lol
Sancho... 🤣
why not mentioned the campground you camp? information draw people to your channel and stay with you
Hey there! Normally we do, but this wasn't an official campground so we didn't think to. For future videos, we will probably note the location of our cool boondocking spots though!
@@ArtWeThereYet thank would be helpful. I watch A+K’s channel for info on campground etc. it is helpful
Jesus fucking christ your english is amazing
☺️☺️☺️Thank you?☺️☺️☺️
@@ArtWeThereYet Oh! Why the question mark? Is English your native language, I was only under the impression as to otherwise due to a very slight accent. In any case I apologize whole heartedly.
Oh no worries at all!!! The question mark was because we were entertained by the contrast of the awesome compliment garnished with awesomely placed profanity. ☺️ Love it! English is my (Cora’s) first language and Jose’s second language.

Thank you!
