10 thumbs up for even giving a crap about a ceiling. I’m always thinking of more than floors and walls. Everything should be art, you should enjoy the view no matter the direction you are looking. Trying to find someone here to do anything other than four (maybe square) walls is a joke. My contractor walked off the job today simply because I pay attention to details. You guys ROCK, and wish you were in HOUSTON !!!!
I would have loved to see a smooth drywalled finish on the whole thing.. And on the how to measure and make the bent pieces. I can figure it out, but it would have been nice. Nice work.

thanks I think it was a problem with youtube there was a day were I wasn't able to see certain videos and this one was the first one that wasn't playing so struck me as odd never happens
if it were not prefabricated I have to wonder how it would look if he had to craft it. I mean considering all he had to do was slap it together. a fella in his position might have cared a little more about nail patterns.
Beautiful and scary. As a structural engineer seeing this, I would have required screws for the top 2x framing and attachment plate. I've seen an entire commercial ceiling collapse because of withdrawal from vertical nails. Great concept, just add a few screws up top.

Back when I was framing houses, we use to cut in these custom ceilings by hand. But, I have to admit that looks awesome.

I would love to do some Venetian plaster in one of those, only like them flush with the rest of the ceiling though

We used metal straps (strong ties) and properly secured it.
