Just the new flavour of the month. He should Continue building his reputation at Ipswich and prove he is premier league ready. Will get chewed up and spat back out if he goes to united or chelsea for next season. Just like graham potter did.
Kompany damaged his brand by sticking with Burnley after promotion
Defo go Brighton instead of Ipswich
@@wedwardes he about to land the Munich job. Doesn’t sound like he damaged anything…
To be fair Potter was a hopeless appointment by Boehly he was never good enough to manage an elite club.
Potter was useless but I agree with the rest of that statement
They’re absolutely spot on! Wtf is going on?! He did nothing at United with Ole 🤷♂️
When did United last finish 2nd in the league? United finished 3rd the season before too. The people who were there said McKenna was the Brains of the operation. United fans who know FA about their club make me laugh!
@@jamminwithmatt5313 see how McKenna does and how the players with their egos react to a guy who was number 2 a few years ago when they win fa and now he comes in as a manger:head coach, how they react. Clown..
@@rosshaugh7937 Some of those players are the issue. Not good enough but think they’re untouchable
@@jamminwithmatt5313 HAHAHAHAHAHA, BRAINS OF THE OPERATION? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
But he was a coach there, means nothing.
Think your all forgetting Ipswich had one of the lowest budgets in the Championship yet got 96 points and Automatic promotion. Most of the players came from League One and Two. Held their own over parachute teams and even did the double over Southampton. In teams of quality of teams this is arguably the strongest Championship ever, no small feat. McKenna's ability to improve players and tactical knowledge was second to none in that League and I dare say will hold up very in the Premier League. An elite team with young players is going to want very good players playing World Class and McKenna will definitely get that out of the players he has no matter what club he goes to.
I don't want him to leave but he is the real deal.
I would argue it’s the management and ownership behind him that make him look good
@@user-up3do8yo3z I hope so too, for our sake. The Club is definitely well run at the moment. But no doubt McKenna's tactical knowledge and ability to develop players with old and dated facilities has had a significant influence on the club. He's also had input on developing more modern and up to date facilities on Playford Road but that's only recently been granted planning permission.
I won’t argue with that but he is valued only with Ipswich. I wish you the best to keep him.
We don’t rate him outside of your club. These are facts - Ipswich was dumped out of the FA Cup by Fulham, by Maidstone in Carabao and Leeds scored 8 goals in doing the league double. Secondly, all the championship sides including the record winning feat of Burnley were relegated immediately. The premiership is a big step up. If we cannot accept De Zerbi or Thomas Frank, I hope you understand why we did not want any Championship manager. People talked about Pep and Xavi but these had an illustrious playing career too and they knew how to win at the highest level. But fair play to McKenna. He should stay and keep Ipswich in the Premiership and not go to Chelsea or United and get sacked after 8 months. That will ruin his career.
i dont know much about McKenna but these talking heads questions McKenna's past managerial experience to validate his capabilities. Who did Xabi Alonso managed before Laverkusen? Soceidad B. What about Pep ? Barcelona B. Zidane?? the list goes on. Either a manager has it or he hasn't, his past managerial experience is not very important it seems, if you're going down that road
Im a United fan and i agree BUT its Manchester United. Its swallowed up the best managers in the world and McKenna isnt any where near that.
Really? Adding Frank Lampard to that list of coaches?! Hahaha
i'm a chelsea fan and i even thought stfu Cundy when he said Frank's name
@@johnhopkinson7573 worst manager in chelsea history
cundy sneaking lampard in there like no one would notice, have some shame lad
This is a pretty stupid question. Teams want a head coach and not a guy demanding roster control. Pretty simple
Roster? This is football mate it's called a squad
@@tikemyson5627 but you know what he meant. Do you agree with him or not?
That’s just your speculation
Again I reference Klopp being given his opportunity at Dortmund after impressing at Mainz
But at least, Klopp managed Mainz in Bundesliga for a short period of time
@@LiubomyrFatsiievych relegated them too im pretty sure no?
Klopp managed in the bundesliga before taking over dortmund
@@LordSeth-hf8ew Kept them up for 2 seasons , mainz had never been in the bundesliga before klopp
The point is if he can do it at Ipswich with no money he can do it with money with the premier league
McKenna is very highly rated who didn't always get appreciated by us fans whilst he was a coach at United. I admit that the United is too early for him but it's not as if other managers have been left out considering the likes of Tuchel especially have also been heavily linked with the United job. As I've always said tho I think we should give Ten Hag another year working under a proper footballing structure then take it from there
I think Ten Haag is asking for a contract too, as he doesn’t want to run down. He may go because of that
Because it’s always the shiny new thing in football until it isn’t. See Ange, Di Zerbi, Potter etc.
Difference here is
Potter - Swedish cups won
De Zerbi - Ukrainian Cup won and Italian league 1 equivalent
Ange - Won Leagues and Cups and Asia Cup Australia, Scotland, Japan
@@SirPablo2Pablo might as well have won the dog and duck at Sunday league level.
Rubbish cups won! @@SirPablo2Pablo
These 2 on the marching powder or what
😂
Look at the players Mckenna has got at Ipswich though. He's taken a league one team to the premier league. He's done a great job at Ipswich
People keep saying it’s a league one team! It’s not! It was clearly championship team that was built in league one. There’s plenty of now proven championship players in that team. Now they are punching in the Prem but no way is that a league one team
Well said Jason. Jose, Flick, Tuchel, Poch all available Even managers like De Zerbi and Amorim are being overlooked when they were the next big thing 6 months ago for Kompany and McKenna? They have around 5 years managerial experience between them. It’s like everyone wants to find the next 39 year old Pep. I hope they don’t ruin young men’s managerial careers and they don’t become the next Potter or even Steven Gerrard
Flick sacked from his last job,Tuchel always falling out with the board and players within 1 year, Jose has been past his best for several years now,De zerbi how good is he really? Big names that everyone keeps thinking should be constantly offered top jobs even when they aren't performing because of who they are
@@mightymeatball8535 During his tenure, Bayern lost just seven games and won seven trophies (Bundesliga twice, DFB-Pokal, Champions League, DFL-Supercup, UEFA Supercup, Club World Cup). He struggled with a struggling German side and maybe isn't' suited to international football. Some managers like Southgate, Coleman, Scolari were better international managers than club managers. Flick is a great club manager. Naggelsman is good too but look to be staying on with Germany. Tuchel is a great coach but wants to have more influence in transfers which is why he "falls out" as you put it. Jose is Jose and could still do a good job for a club, but more likely a 5-8th place club in a country. Pep said himself De Zerbi is a brilliant manager, and Brighton only struggled because they were in Europe with a small aging squad. One average season doesn't mean he's a bad manager. I think they should be contenders for jobs because of the body of work they have accumulated and earned the right to be considered for good jobs. I'm not saying they should automatically be handed a job in a club the size of Man City or Real Madrid or Bayern.
All these other coaches been passed around and sacked multiple times. Clubs want young fresh. They also want more control and less manager more coach
Paul Lambert accomplished the same getting Norwich consecutive promotions. Whilst an unbelievable achievement, surely its too soon for a big club.
Brighton would be a sensible step up, Chelsea & Man United are a circus
Lambert did it with a championship squad , McKenna did it with a league one squad , with more points , more goals.
Some of those Managers that you mention don't develope players anymore. They just want to buy big name players, and maybe these teams don't want to spend that kind of money.
Jose Mourinho
Antonio Conte
Thomas Tuchel
Pochettino
Sarri
Flick
De Zerbi
Completely free.
And one could easily look at other experienced managers currently employed, like
Marco Silva
Amorim
Gasperini
Spalletti
Mancini, etc.
Flick has just signed for Barca
Mourinho was ok at Porto and Chelsea early on , then his career down hill negative style like watching paint dry, wouldn’t want him to manage my village team
Keep Ten Hag
To do what exactly?
Maybe he can coach us to a minus 10 goal difference next season and relegation battle?
Gian Piero Gasperini is 66 years old amazing manager
Tuchel and Conte were given chances by bigger clubs during their careers to put them in the position they are now. Amazing how that concept seems to have gone over your heads.
The big name managers want to buy players and coach the team all in one.
I’m surprised they are asking this question , Chelsea wanted a yes man given the resistant they got from Tuchel and recent sacking Tuchel . Similarly with United , maybe a little different as he worked Ole and is aware of the structure and is still quite young .
Give Conte the Brighton job and every club will want him in 6 months
They won't as Conte wants readymade players, not want to develop them. Same with Jose. No question they were great managers, but time catches up with everyone. There's a reason why clubs like Bayern not even considering Conte or Jose, instead gambling on Kompny.
At one point, likes of big Sam could do a great job in PL until he couldn't.
Guardiola will win EPL every year because they don’t want winners to challenge him. Who in EPL is a threat to him apart from serial winner coach like Mou and Conte
@@kingwata1 Who are they? Do you think other clubs don't want to win titles? Are you living in the real world or internet has fried your brain?
@@kingwata1 Conte and Mourinho haven't been relevant in years lol. Not everybody needs to play like Pep, but the ultra defensive managers who can't coach attacks and build up well enough arent good enough anymore to challenge for leagues where you NEED 90+ points to win.
@@lkay398 How do you define years? The last I checked both won cups in 5 years. Tell me another manager who have won anything apart from klopp and Guardiola
He got promoted with 16th highest budget in Championship
Luton done it
@@wickedmanrick2582 I’m just saying they are trying hard to think of his achievements but left out the obvious one, got promoted with tiny budget compared to Leicester, Leeds, Southampton etc
Bang on
Because Sporting directors and the board want more control and the old school elite managers don't want that structure while being pressured for success with your hands tied essentially. So Clubs now going for inexperienced potential...YES men.
He has scored more points than any other manager over the last 2 years. More than Pep.
Against Rotherham though mate not Real Madrid
Man's comparing league 1 and championship record to premier league record 😂 good gosh
@@tikemyson5627it’s actually harder what McKenna did because he had less money than opponents as opposed to 115 financial charges… comparing the points tally massively favours pep and still he loses on that
@@user-mj5xl8tq3lancelottis Real Madrid beat peps city despite spending far less….
Chelsea want someone they can control , they're not necessarily looking for the best candidate
No..they just want a coach that just coach and not interfere with transfers..don’t talk out your ahh
@@Toddboehly206 the Chelsea owners want power that could extend to on field coaching and team selection ect. Chelsea are absolutely screwed under these owners
Arteta went from being an assistant manager at City to managing Arsenal. At least McKenna has actually achieved things before being given an opportunity at United.
Maybe we do live in a changing world and some of the tried and trusted methods of management no longer work the way they used to. Anyway, whoever you appoint, it is always a risk. Alonso had no experience and it worked, Tuchel had bags of experience and it backfired.
YOU CAN HIRE ANYBODY AND THEY WILL BE BETTER THAN ETH.BECAUSE OF THE JOB HE HAS DONE THIS YEAR. THERE ARE TO MANY RED FLAGS SUCH AS WRONG SUBSTITUTIONS ,TEAM NOT WARMING UP,PLAYERS DRINKING, AND I CAN GO ON.
I love these 2 they're the only ones I listen to and ally
This is what man united need promote from within !
😂 Was it worth going up tractor boys this is what happens when you go up, top teams stripping you of managers and if you had any decent player them too, enjoy the new season 😂 You went up bit to early not ready for it. All the best 😉
‘’It’s like winning the Audi cup’’
‘’Well as a spurs fan you know exactly what that’s like’’
😂😂😂
Short answer is Arteta. Young , new attacking football. He was given alot of time by Arsenal. Many clubs are trying to emulate Arsenal hoping they land the next Arteta.
Not otten i agree with them but spot on. Its worrying
Flavour of the month British coach. As soon as a British coach has a little bit of success they are the next big thing & the media want to rush them to the top. Stay at Ipswich and build
Alonso was coaching socidad B before Leverkusen
Pep was coaching Barca B before Barca.
Tuchel was coaching Mainz before Dortmund.
They're trying to catch that kind of manager before these managers make it to another top flight club
That's what's happening
2 promotions in a row from a young british manager and this pair of muppets are ripping him apart. Kompany is getting the bayern job 😂
I don't understand these expert pundits. They keep going on about young managers should prove themselves in the lower leagues before they get a job at a Premier League club. That's exactly what Kieren McKenna has done. Also, Pep hadn't managed anywhere when he got the Barcelona job.
Mckennas stats are unreal check them out
Benitez is also looking for a job
It's just the media we all know what they're like ffs.
Although Mckenna is a good coach (back to back promotions isn’t an easy feat at all) but it’s still the wrong decision to let ten hag go now.
It's the Arteta effect. You might want to mention Alonso because he won at Leverkusen but it all started with Arteta yet people want to banter him and Arsenal for not winning the league like the model isn't working. Imagine going from Pep, Klopp, Conte, Tuchel, Arteta, Poch to Pep, Arteta, Slot, Mckeana, Enzo 😅😅😅😅😅. The Chelsea and Utd fans mostly laughing at Arsenal for appointing Arteta and he's got Arsenal challenging two years in a row. Now look at UTd and Chelsea and the coaches that are being linked with. Life happens at you so fast.
Cause he’s Young
I feel like hes got the best PR team in the world.
Well we had wilf mcguiness as manager once.
How does it feel odd. It’s only speculation 😂 every manager that is available has been linked with the United job. ETH hasn’t even been sacked yet. Who’s to say he will 100% be sacked. Well disrespectful journalism, they did the same to LVG.
Get me Don Sarri Already
Has ETH been fired?
Clubs like United and Chelsea want managers the board can control not strong personalities. It’ll lead to more player power and more misery
McKenna isn’t he the guy who lost at home to Maidstone Utd in the FA Cup it really is a joke
Yes , Man Utd , Chelsea and Brighton should stay clear.
The Chelsea board want a competent young guy who has less ego. You have to be able to fit into the structure. If the new guy can tactically set the team up properly and coach the first team to be better players, that’s all he’s got to do. You don’t need to be Pep to do that.
No buddy the Chelsea owners basically want a say on team selection due to which players are in the shop window ect and could even stretch to on field coaching due to all the data they look at which is the real gaffer. It's all been leaked.
They want the next Arteta, Alonso etc...
I’m very feel
There going for the cheaper option
I do wonder where Tuchel, Poch and de Zerbi are gonna end up. It looks like Mourinho is going to saudi.
Think!! Managers are vanishing. It’s all about coaches now!
Comparing kieran mckenna to frank lampard as a coach hahaha
I'm not really one to jump on the 'American this, American that...' bandwagon, but I do watch a lot of American sports.
American sports are very big on separating performance data from manager persona, in order to find potential coaches; something that is most common in NFL, NBA.
They look to data for answers to questions like "How did Alonso outperform Tuchel with lesser players?" They also use regression analysis and apply it retrospectively, such as Conte's league win with Chelsea which, whilst a big achievement, came after Chelsea added Alonso, David Luiz, and prime Kante to a side that had won the league only a year before under Mourinho.
Just say you have seen Moneyball, I used to watch the NFL and it is barely even a sport lol. Baseball died with Barry Bonds and the steroid scandal, the NBA when Jordan retired along with every other global star and Hockey?
What kind of sports allows its top players to fight apart from actual combat sports
@kennywilkinson913 You are right... I only watched the film Moneyball; I have no interest in the likes of Daryl Morey, Sam Presti or Tim Connelly and the methods they use to identify players and the right coaches to coach the players.
I don't watch ice hockey unless it's the Olympics, and find baseball too long a game to watch; much like test cricket... I do watch the NFL and the NBA, and keep studying what goes into producing those teams, and how much what Americans call the 'analytics' plays a role.
As I said, I watch a lot of (not all) American sports... FFP has forced clubs to trade more (lots of trading in American sports); you can see the pattern of what Chelsea and other clubs are doing - focusing on the transfer fees is old/wrong thinking.
Cole Palmer has had a better season than any academy player sold by Chelsea, ever. Chelsea believe their data helps them avoid selling academy players for the wrong amount - they believe data can ignore persona and identify the right coach.
Well they can sell Chelsea go buy Brighton or Burnley and try there new age data experiments there. Trust the protest clownlake out
How old are you lot. Historically Ipswich are are big club.
Tell it to Ipswich trolls. They get upset when I said McKenna isn’t ready for Premiership. He is No Xavi Alonso.
🤡
Why isn't anyone talking about Gasperini - stoopid English media
We want moyes at chelsea
Gasperini is unbelievable why? You hate on Arteta for finishing second in the PL. you twist with the wind
What had Guardiola done when Barca decided he was the man for them? Barca Youth!
For managers like Company, Arteta, Kieran, Thiago...it's probably word of mouth from their peers, the football on display regardless of results and perhaps that they may actually be the i-jist-want-to-manage, let others handle everything else types which these owners like.
Man had Messi xavi iniesta in the team lol
@@tikemyson5627 Why then are people losing their minds over the likes of Company managing Bayern with the current squad, their wealth and pull?
@@Resplendentdex because pep came from with in the Barca structure anyway, he knew everything he had to know. He’d already coach some of the players in the academy, his style of football was Barca style of football, he knew all the directors and owner. If he becomes our manager i will give up
He's gone from league 1 straight to the prem in 2 successive seasons. And you're on about he only came 2nd in the champ? You don't understand how big of an achievement that is coming up from league 1, competing against clubs with parachute payments with huge wage bills and squad values in the hundreds of millions like Leicester and Leeds. Give McKenna the respect he deserves. As a Forest fan it's easy to see that big 6 fans don't understand the football pyramid like EFL fans do, and can't understand how good an achievement it is by Ipswich.
Rob edwards done that so does that means he should have a big job
Doesn't mean he's ready to be competing at the top of the premier league and in the champions league
@@wickedmanrick2582 Nah Rob Edwards didn't do that, he joined Luton when they were already in the Champ. This is what I mean, you sky 6 fans have no clue about EFL matters, so ignorant.
And what have you done apart from slag people off
The football manager role is becoming extinct. Clubs want a head coach now .
If ManU fans are anything like spurs fans they'll roll out the red carpet and the media woukd jump on the wagon..
Out goes the Premier league managers, in comes the Championship manager
It's about playing style and all the contes, Mourinhos and tuchels plays a nonsense brand of football...
And in today's world people don't wanna watch that, look at Moyes at Westham...
He has done fairly well for them but he was pushed out in favour of a better brand of football...
Managers want a project these days hence why going to Bayern or any of the “big 6” isn’t appealing anymore, managers want a project they can build and nurture, the Brightons, Newcastles, Villas, West Ham’s, Bayer leverkusens are all much more appealing than any of these big 6 clubs and Bayern who are all used goods.
If this was the s*x industry, the big 6 and Bayern would be literal slappers, they have been with everybody, no manager wants that anymore, they want to build their own name and build a proper project.
A Liverpool fan here man Utd will get a good manager I hope as a Liverpool fan but Chelsea go do your work I hope you struggle for ever unless you do a Man City.
Man City and Chelsea are Liverpool and Man Utd wanna bes
I don't know which era you live in, mate, but it is Utd who live off our scraps - managers, players, and even an owner who happens to be a Chelsea ST holder. Don't worry. One more season and we'll be back amongst the elite. Our squad is that good
Both Tuchel and Conte are some of the most volatile managers and always fall out with the board. No surprise they only last a couple seasons at each club they go to. After a while, their negative reputations become more important than their ability as managers.
There intense mate because they want to win and haven't got time for processes that dont come to fruition
@@tikemyson5627 Don’t get me wrong, I loved them both when they were Chelsea manager. I’m simply answering the question as to why no clubs want to hire either of them presently.

Arteta was pep's right hand man at city , he learned from the best in the world , mckenna learned from solkjaer
@macrodanis4588 Paul Clement was Carlo Ancelotti's right hand man at Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern.
That didn't give him a top job straight away did it?
McKenna proved his credentials at Ipswich regardless of who he learned from. Arteta didn't do that as a manager.
It's very simple... everybody's looking for the next Arteta. Good luck! 😎

What McKenna did at Ipswich is MORE impressive than Ten Hag winning the Dutch League with Ajax or Poch winning the French League with PSG. 😴😴😴😴
I totally agree guys, it’s absolute madness. They did the same with Potter. They big up a manager who’s won NOTHING! It’s a no brainer to bring Tuchel back in, Real Madrid brought back Ancellotti because he’s a winner.
I think Arteta has broken peoples brains. All the big clubs want the young modern manager with no experience. Problem is, they are NOT as good as Arteta.
Because Tuchel and Conte both have rotten attitudes towards their boards and aren't the managers you go to for a long term project.
Tuchel also flopped horribly at Bayern Munich so his stock took a blow.
All these hipster young managers will eventually crash and burn .Just like players, a lot of them are given far too much too early
Arteta gone from 0 to hero
More and more big clubs are going for that unbearable term "project" - aiming at long term with an unproven manager with potential. Problem is that most of them are sacked within 3 years, the same span as a Tuchel, Conte or Mourinho. Big difference? The latter will win you titles in that time because they have the experience.
Chelsea will destroy another young manager like Potter
