Southgate only just picked players on form one game before the tournament. Problem with that is the new players in the squad haven’t had enough time to gel. He basically left out all the experience which he’s used through the whole qualifiers to bring in inexperienced players who’ve played one game together before the tournament. I don’t get it at all.
So stop telling Southgate to pick on form then, because a player could be on good form one month then out of form the next!

Trent is a good player but plenty of mediocre players have won the champions league including English fullbacks like Ryan Bertrand it’s not an incredible achievement on its own if other players are carrying the weight

TAA hasn't shown he can play that role at all. He's shown he can ping a nice pass and switch the play, but can he play tight one-two passes in a congested midfield? No. Is he tactically and positionally aware enough to hold a tight press, or play a holding role next to Rice? No. Is he good enough at tackling to stop a midfield surge? No. Because he's not a midfielder. But he can cross the ball and takes half decent free kicks, so all of a sudden people think he's gonna become KDB. To think you can just drop him in the middle of the pitch is naive as anything.
@@connorbutler5900 So angry 😂😂 Trent has played in midfield a number of times for Liverpool more so at the end of the 22/23 season and absolutely smashed it. He may not have been the best full back, but years of playing in that position, winning every major club trophy in existence, would suggest the guy knows a little bit about defending. But hey, I'm sure you know more than the manager and coaching staff who have spent weeks up close and personal with the squad and worked with them every day in training and throughout qualification. Paul Scholes knew nothing about defending and couldn't tackle for toffee, I suppose he wasn't a proper midfielder either?
@@Geohillierneo Yeah, of course he does know a little about defending, but he should know a lot more considering all those accolades you just stated and the level he's been playing at. He's never starting ahead of a fit Kyle Walker or Reece James. The fact is, he's a positional liability and has been for Liverpool for a while now; why do you think it was so easy to replace him as a RB and stick him in midfield? Because from a defensive point of view, he doesn't offer much. So in a midfield position, where his lack of technical and positional awareness can and will catch him out on all sides, he could be a major liability. He can play a nice pass over the top but he doesn't excel in enough of the other areas to play in a top level midfield.
Paul Scholes wasn't as bad defensively as a lot of people seem to think, he knew exactly where he needed to be and knew how to read the game better than anyone, and his ability to single handedly control the tempo of an entire game is something that more than made up for any defensive flaws. The GOAT midfielder.

Trent knows how to kick a ball, but does he understand the other responsibilities a midfielder has.
KDB’s attributes isn’t about his passing abilities, but reading the game and knowing when to pass, the trajectory the ball has to travel to get to the player, the weight of the pass etc.
Trent doesn’t know how to read the game, he doesn’t see opponents behind him nor making a run at the far post.

But he can ping a ball to switch the play and he's half decent at free kicks, so all of a sudden you lot think he'll become prime KDB and he'll be good enough to play the hardest job on the pitch?
