. Andy Kreibel who does Tableau Tip Tuesday is my second or first choice depending on the subject. . You both get right to the point and go to work and have solid information. Kreibel goes really fast and I have to watch the speed in .75 on You Tube. Like you he knows what he is doing plus when he makes a mistake he does not edit it out when he corrects it which is learning in itself. You're teaching style have different strength that is valuable to learn from. You go a bit slower, repeated the emphasized parts and have great production videos with high quality content.

At 16:28 we can use SUM(IF[Date]=TODAY() AND [Case Type]="Confirmed" THEN [Cases] END) for dynamic results.but bars are not labeled even if hit the check box at labels to show values for the overlap.

Hello Sir, Could you explain why are you hardcoding a formula? We can take MAX(Cases) instead of SUM(Cases) to get the total number of cases till date. Wouldn't this work?
@@libinkoshy632 Using max by itself will not work since you cant mix an aggregate with a non aggregate. But, I show a better approach than hardcoding in the third video.

To get the Top 10 Countries without Hard Coding -> create a calculated field for Ranking as ( Rank_UNIQUE(SUM([Cases])) and then drag this to rows, drag SUM(Cases) to Columns -> Right-click on the above-calculated field and Change Compute using from Table across to Country Region Field -> then change the field to Discrete -> Drag Country Region to Filters and select Top 10 by Cases - Sum. This will give you the Top 10 countries in Descending order without any Hard Coding. Hope this helps.

Yes Anthony! That is what I am doing now! My question is that I dragged all the properties into the field as shown in the video but it is not showing the "daily cases of GA". Do you happen to have a video explaining the initial process of making "example" tab? That would be very helpful. Because your video first just demonstrates the first example tab rather than showing how to format the table and putting things on the field
I don't have a full video for the example tab but you should be able to see all of the fields and filters I used from the video. Make sure you're using the older dataset on data.world which had the same field names as the fields in the example.

When I finally did the graph only it shoed the relevant date's data only but not historical data. Not sure what I did wrong, but I tried a few times but the same issue. Thank you very much. You are doing great job, I have one question, 16.25 Why you are using if formula with date to select top 10 countries. We can simply filter out by selecting top 10. what is the different here. Could you please provide advise us on this.
We have to filter the data based upon confirmed cases on a SPECIFIC date (which is the last day in the data set when I originally made this video). Review the commentary and look at the data starting at 5:25. If we filter top 10 without specific criteria you would get the top 10 based off of an incorrect case number. You would have a top 10 based off of an incorrect sum that includes CONFIRMED cases and DEATHS that are double counted across multiple days.
Hi Anthony, In the Confirmed Cases Bar sheet where you were putting a filter and you had to hard-code the date, you can first create a calculated field to get the maximum date ( Maximum date field : - {fixed :MAX([date])}) and in the formula for getting the cases you can put { INCLUDE [State]:MAX(if [date]=DATEADD('day',0,[Maximum date field]) THEN [cases] END)}. I think you could make the dashboard more dynamic as data come it update automatically which is useful to showcase the current situation . You used manual sorting which could not be efficient in nowadays situation .

THANK YOU. I've been looking for some Tableau projects to work on while I'm unemployed and sheltering at home. This is the perfect data set to use for self-directed projects. What could be more timely? I also appreciate the information about maps. One of my former co-workers thought that working with maps was a waste of time, but I think that it can be very helpful when visualizing global data. One problem I see, however, is how to note on the map those countries where the data collection is obviously lacking or unavailable altogether. I'd want to shade/color them in some way to make it clear that these countries aren't really accurately represented.

The dataset used in this video is no longer being updated, but you can still download the dataset and use it to build out the dashboard for learning purposes. However, even when the data was current it was never dynamic. It will have to be refreshed.
Hi Sir, thanks alot for your videos, learning alot from them, just one ques, Why do I need two filters, i.e one extra filter of case_type while we already have an 'and' condition on the Country_region filter which should show only 'confirmed' and on date 04/07/20. You can connect to the data via web data connector as I just performed that today out of curiosity. Just make sure to login to data.world through your browser first. I will most likely include a quick tutorial on web data connector in a future video.
The dataset mentioned in the video is retired. You will only learn the concept of the dashboard creation using the old dataset. The updated dataset is in a new format. It's mentioned near the beginning of the video. You will need a data.world account to download it. It's an older dataset but it is still there.

For the Bar chart, When you had the issue with no. of cases, Could we not just set it to MAX(cases) rather than SUM(CASES)
The way the data is structured we need the sum of cases on the max date in the dataset.

There should be options on Tableau Public that let you determine which published worksheets are hidden.

Very helpful. I’m a data analyst noob so forgive me, but why is my date only showing up to 6/4/2020 ( todays date is 02/28/22) when this is suppose to be up to date data? How would I go about making it dynamic?
This particular dataset stopped being updated on the date you mentioned and was replaced by another dataset that is similar.

Hey Anthony, in the confirmed cases graph after doing all the steps which you have shown, instead of getting all the lines I only get one line( for the latest date) and not all the lines in the graph, can you help me out as to why I'm not getting all the lines

THANK YOU. I've been looking for some Tableau projects to work on while I'm unemployed and sheltering at home. This is the perfect data set to use for self-directed projects. What could be more timely? I also appreciate the information about maps. One of my former co-workers thought that working with maps was a waste of time, but I think that it can be very helpful when visualizing global data. One problem I see, however, is how to note on the map those countries where the data collection is obviously lacking or unavailable altogether. I'd want to shade/color them in some way to make it clear that these countries aren't really accurately represented.
I haven't tried but you could probably create a set containing those countries and color them differently using a dual axis approach.

is this dashboard dynamic? meaning to say it will update as the SQL database is updated.
The dataset used in this video is no longer being updated, but you can still download the dataset and use it to build out the dashboard for learning purposes. However, even when the data was current it was never dynamic. It will have to be refreshed.

Hi Sir, thanks alot for your videos, learning alot from them, just one ques, Why do I need two filters, i.e one extra filter of case_type while we already have an 'and' condition on the Country_region filter which should show only 'confirmed' and on date 04/07/20. Whats the second Cases_type filter doing. Thanks alot in advance Sir!!

Would have loved to see you do this using the data connector so that it gets updated automatically. Downloading the csv will not do that right?
You can connect to the data via web data connector as I just performed that today out of curiosity. Just make sure to login to data.world through your browser first. I will most likely include a quick tutorial on web data connector in a future video.

The dataset mentioned in the video is retired. You will only learn the concept of the dashboard creation using the old dataset. The updated dataset is in a new format.
