    hello, thank you for great videos!
    I have couple of questions:
    1. for example: I do a quick calculation ("Difference"), for 2 columns from the datasource and then I want to compute correlation of those created calculated fields(differences) (I encounter errors); is possible to perform this type of calculation in Tableau?
    2. is possible to create a correlation matrix inside Tableau (not import and format it, but actually calculate it in Tableau)?
    Thanks in advance

    • @Leonardich30
      @Leonardich30 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      1st:
      window_corr(WINDOW_SUM([diff1],0,0),
      WINDOW_SUM([diff2],0,0),-SIZE(),0)
      where:
      diffX is:
      (sum([Adj CloseX])-LOOKUP(SUM([Adj CloseX]),-1))
      so the correlation for the whole dataset is in the last row

    • @ArtofVisualization
      @ArtofVisualization  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Leonardich30. You are most welcome, happy to hear you are finding the videos valuable.
      1) This is indeed a complex and composite calculation you are trying to create. There might be an easier way to attempt this and simplify, but one would need to look at the details and the data. Have a look at the tutorials suggested below, these might be handy for what you are trying to achieve.
      2) It is indeed possible to create a correlation matrix within Tableau. Here are some additional resources to help you on your way: kb.tableau.com/articles/HowTo/creating-a-correlation-value-matrix and boraberan.wordpress.com/2013/12/09/creating-a-correlation-matrix-in-tableau-using-r-or-table-calculations/

    The Filter you used is it all normal Filter, quick Filter or context, please explain the Difference

    • @jplab
      @jplab 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there,
      All of the filters used in the lecture are normal filters. You will see that Tableau does create some filters automatic (in Italics and prefixed "Action...), based on the interactivity between charts we create when selecting "Use as filter".
      As for context filters - they are independent filters which when applied, filters all the data on the sheets on which it is active. Furthermore, all other filters will only be applied after the context filter.
      As the different filters can be quite confusing, we created a whole series on the different types and application, available as a playlist here on TH-cam: th-cam.com/video/H67-YsN3PEs/w-d-xo.html
      Give it a look!

    This tutorial is lovely, it was a refresher for me. I think about the dashboards I could have done better and faster!
    My only gripe is that in the dashboard if we remove the title of the view then it will be misleading. We need something to indicate that the result of the last view is based on a filter, that restricts only the loss-making manufacturers. Such views would result in assumption based arguments during group analysis in a conference room.

  • @Leonardich30
    @Leonardich30 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hello again!
    My question is:
    Is possible to create(show tiles) with multiple filters for the same dimension? e.i. you have multiple categories in the dimension and you want to have a filter for each of those categories (filter entries inside the category), your data is in tabular form. I tried to it with sets but when you put multiple sets into the filter they filter on top of each other not independently. There is a way to it by using groups but then you have a filter for categories (and you set the entries filter from the dimension to "relevant values") but this only makes it to add up into this general filter for the dimension.
    I tried to use parameters (putting set into list option) but then it is only a single value choice.
    Overall, is it possible to create multiple filter for one dimension and show all of them at the same time and to have one data table (instead of having multiple tables, one for each filter)?

    • @ArtofVisualization
      @ArtofVisualization  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi again Leonardich30, I have not had a use case to attempt what you describing and using groups or sets would have been my 'go-to' options. Is there any specific reason you need to implement it in this way? What exactly are you trying to achieve - their might be another way about it?

    • @Leonardich30
      @Leonardich30 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Got it.
      My problem is that otherwise my filter is just too big/long (even when having a filter for groups and then filter for the members of the groups as a "relevant values", after some point there are just too many entries), having separate filters for each group from the dimension would reduce the clutter significantly.
      Thank you anyway!
