Hopefully it'll be useful for those of you who are are planning to move to Tokyo, or just curious about the rental process!
    We partnered with Weave Living for this video, and they gave us access to film their units. You can find out more about them here: bit.ly/WeavePlaceYTJM

    Which apartment would you choose to live in? 😄

    As somebody who's planning on moving to Japan for a year on a working holiday visa, this video is actually incredibly helpful, I cannot thank you enough for making this video! It's a shame that Weave's apartments are so much more expensive than similar rentals from different companies, as well as having the predatory practice of offering different monthly prices depending on how long you plan to rent for, while advertising at the cheapest price option they have

    As always a great high quality video. Weave couldn't have asked for better apt tour guides! I liked the Asakusa one the best because of the location so close to Orange Street.

    Yessss!!! Thank you for this detailed tour. You originally gave me the advice to check out Hmlet for short term apartment rentals. So, now I'll have to check out Weave too for our move next year! I love that you still take the time to post these informative videos between all the fun ones as well. Keep em coming!! Thanks again!

    I think for the long run, traditional rental is still more affordable. I did a quick calculation for a 2 years lease, i will save 1 million yen.

    I would steer clear of Asakusa for several reasons ( Unfortunately I have to go there twice a week for my Pilates class). If I were you I would chose other areas.

    My dream is to move to Japan (specifically Tokyo) someday. This video was both amazingly helpful and simple to follow. Keep up the great work. I enjoy your channel
    2 questions:
    1) How would someone who is new to Japan even go about producing everything listed? Like, how would someone have their residents' card, japanese residence history, or japanese bank account if they're JUST arriving?
    2) When looking at "flex" options, did you notice if any of them accept pets?

    • @itsjamlife
      @itsjamlife  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      We're glad this video was useful for you! Thanks for the motivation :)
      1) The residence card is issued on arrival at the airport, as you go through immigration. In most cases that we've heard of, people typically stay at some sort of short-term housing for the initial month or so, since those don't require as much paperwork. They first register the address with the local government in order to receive a jūminhyō (residence record). With that official residence record, they can apply for a cellphone number. And finally, they should be able to open a Japanese bank account.
      2) It looks like Weave doesn't accept pets. For a pet-friendly alternative, you could check out Hmlet. That's where we stayed when we first arrived. They have furnished rentals and some of their buildings are pet friendly!

    I liked this very much it is very helpful to me and my fiance. Although when going through the Weave stay do they accept pets? I have a cat and we plan on bringing him with us as we are studying abroad in the near fall. If they do not accept pets, what other recommendations do you guys suggest?

      Thank you! We're glad this was useful! 🥹 Here's the e-mail address for contacting Weave directly: live.jp@weave-living.com
      Also, our first apartment was pet-friendly, but the security deposit will be more expensive in that case- just a heads up! We posted a tour of it here: th-cam.com/video/yLMoCqlsBtk/w-d-xo.html

    One thing I see NO ONE including here talking about is pet friendly apartments. if I cannot bring my chihuahua which is a pretty small dog that is well trained and assists in my diabetes (they can smell and detect blood sugar levels and alert) I cannot feel at peace enough to even try and visit long term. It would be amazing if you could give any information or where to look for such information.

    • @itsjamlife
      @itsjamlife  หลายเดือนก่อน

      We totally understand how that would be important! The first apartment we stayed at when we moved here was pet-friendly. If you want to see a tour of it, we have a video here: th-cam.com/video/yLMoCqlsBtk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=9AM1-bUwDU5zQ-nI

    Key money is ridiculous. It’s funny in Japan how tradition trumps common sense or reason in some cases.
