    For me, the piano song is the best.
    It is even more realistic than that of the piano from which the sample is derived. Because it is devoid of the natural defects of the piano. Bravo to the manufacturer and the keyboardist.

    I have a CP73 and SK1-73. The YC61 presumably is Yamaha's entrant into the clonewheel market. I was disappointed that the emphasis on this demo was more e-piano/piano oriented. The organ demo showed none of the versatility or sound of the Hammond emulation - 3 bars out, all bars out, gnarly H sound, Leslie simulations ... we know how good Yamaha is in the piano area, it's the organs that have always been their weakness in the pop and rock area, and they need to convince us that they are on the button. I'm looking forward to further demos.

    Competition, Crumar mojo 61, Nord electro 6d, Roland vr 730, Hammond sk1 All cheaper with similar functions. Is this Yamaha good enough to be priced higher?

    • @vanessajazp6341
      @vanessajazp6341 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a Roland VR730. It's got a great B3 tone, but I can tell you straight up it's not any competition for this new Yamaha overall.
      The Roland has a lot of hidden limitations, not least is the very poor instructions and non-existent support. They just dropped the price by $400 because they know they won't sell any more after NAMM if they're still asking $1500. I plan to sell/trade my VR730 and pick up one of these YC61's as soon as they're available.
      Nord 6D, currently retailing for $2200. As I understand it, it's limited in its layers. And no one in the business has a better piano sound than Yamaha (IMO). There's a reason their grand pianos are found in symphonies and grand concert halls all over the world. As far as FM synthesis, Yamaha invented it so theirs is authentic as it gets.
      Hammond Sk1 is dated and doesn't have the wealth of sounds that Yamaha brings to bear.
      Crumar Mojo is bad-ass but overall still more limited than the Yamaha.

    • @matszh
      @matszh 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think Yamaha have a best seller here, it really is a gigging musician’s dream, kind of makes you consider selling all of your present equipment, to replace with this one. Nord’s only avantage is their fantastic free sample library (which may justify a high price on the hardware) and new sample editor. If Yamaha would put out something similar on Soundmondo, they would kill the competition. They won’t compete with the new Nord Wave 2 though, which is a really interesting synthesizer concept.

    • @vanessajazp6341
      @vanessajazp6341 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matszh I have a MODX and the YamahaSynth site does have several libraries of samples and settings you can download. Some are free, some are not. I believe that will be available for the YC61 as well.
      I haven't really looked at the Nord Wave 2, but isn't that primarily an analog/hybrid synthesizer, like the Korg Wavestation or Juno? If so, that's not really in the same market as the YC61.
      I don't think Yamaha has anything in that market, which kinda' makes sense when you consider that their contribution to the synthesizer world was FM synthesis (DX7), and that's on all their Montage and MODX keyboards.
      I'm actually not a big fan of FM synthesis. Great sounds, but not exactly as intuitive as classic synthesizers like Moog.

    • @catboyzee
      @catboyzee 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its in that Nord price point. I'll admit I'm digging what I'm hearing from the YC61. I'm hoping they'll add 73 and 88 note versions in the not too distant future.

    I make conclusion not only from this video ;) if compare price 2000 $ with latest Nord Electro 6 [61] - is to much! Organ sounds are worthy but not 100% real, especially rotary. Cool design! E. Pianos are very good to my ear. Overall great instrument!!!

    • @metalplatedfacejob
      @metalplatedfacejob 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      way more connectivity, more fx processing, better sounding organs and E piano, 8 operator fm , better keybed , more customizable as far as under the hood tweaking. this thing is worthy.......just looked up the price on Sweetwater, $1899. Piano sounds is way better then nord, nord sounds plastic and overly brite to me. Circuit modeling too.....I dont know, the Nord is just a sample player.......an overpriced one too.

Dude my experience far out ways yours by a long shot. You should not assume that the person you are replying to is ignorant . You have no idea what projects I have worked on or who I know/what I know. The Yamaha organs sound better, the real FM engine under the hood sounds better then the Nord. • @catboyzee
      @catboyzee 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. 61 notes is great for gigging in small spaces. But the extra octave a 73 note keyboard makes a huge difference in terms of performance and expressive options. And gigging keyboardists like myself like/need to have a variety of options. This instrument sounds great though, 61 notes and all.

    • @vanessajazp6341
      @vanessajazp6341 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Nord Electro is a 61-key board. For organ, you really don’t need more than that. Yamaha’s CP stage pianos are 88 and 76 (73?) keys. The YC is aimed at organ players.

    • @JunkSoap
      @JunkSoap 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vanessajazp6341 sorry but the Nord Electro comes in 73 keys version too...
      www.thomann.de/fr/search_dir.html?sw=nord+electro+6d&smcs=f92a0c_3869
      Even for organ players, on a single manual, 73 keys is a smarter choice. 61 keys is handy for dual manual organ such as Nord C2 or Mojo Crumar.
      61 keys is typical synth. ;)
