I'm not sure I've ever seen an instrument demo presented in such an engaging, innovative and refreshing way - astounding video and super well-researched.
This...this is the BEST demo of any Reface Keyboards I have seen on all of TH-cam. PERIOD. Holy smokes! I mean if you watch 99% of the "demos" of any of these incredible keyboards, you just feel like they're meant for some hideous "I'm gonna do random BS in my bed" kind of stuff...whereas they are actually professional-grade keyboards. Man you need millions of views on this. Persona tracks and then the Ghost busters theme...something extremely relatable, giving the feel of high-quality production all while explaining the technical capabilities of this keyboard (and basically of all Reface Keyboards). @@combofriend4461 The CS was the first one I got, but the fact that it has no patch memory is kind of the reason I barely use it anymore. I thought that this was going to be an issue with the YC as well, but for example the CP doesn't either, but with how immediate it is, that doesn't really bother me in the end. I wanted to rip off the internals, attach it to 5 octave MIDI keyboard and put it into a wooden chassis, but then I have bought real transistor organ instead. Last year one friend has asked me to play as a guest in his band 3 pieces with organ sounds, so I have grabbed my battery powered reface YC and taken it into a concert. I bought the same guitar as Eddie VanHalen, I can't play guitar but man that thing won't play Eruption for me at all. I did sound for years in clubs, I used to dual mic Leslie cabinets all the time, but it was only recently playing with B3 plugins that I finally understood everything involved with organs. Pretty incredible things and a living breathing instrument when played skillfully. I was so fortunate to have done sound for Jimmy McGriff in a few festivals and it was incredible to hear him play. A true master.
What an amazing video! Thought it was just a showcase with you playing some songs at first. Now at the end of the video, i find myself wanting to play the organ. Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks for the thoughtful video review (first one of your channel that I've come across). I was in the Philippines around 1990 for a couple of years and whenever I'd walk by a bar there always seemed to be some live player with some backing tracks, some keyboard (organ sounds usually), and some echoey mic (like the Karaoke machines have that tries to make a person sound better with reverb). That organ playing of yours near the end reminded me of those days. Honestly, as much as I like gear and gear reviews, I'd really like to learn how to play organ stuff like you're playing. If you could make some videos breaking down how to play some of your favorite songs that have good organ parts in them, I'd love to see them. Again, sort of like how you'd go about doing a live gig in a Philippine bar... I'd just like to know how they go about doing that and what songs to play (something with a title like, "So you want to play a solo live gig like we do in the Philippines... here's how"). That'd really make my day :)
your comment made my week!! yes I'd love to make a video about playing for live gigs especially since a lot of new musicians nowadays have spent so much time in their bedrooms and have no clue where to start.
I have the CS and CP and they are incredible. I got rid of the dx because it just didn’t move me. Now considering the YC. I really like how your music played throughout the entire video. Appreciate the enthusiasm.
Ambrose Kenny-Smith from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard used the YC for a little while. Take a look at Live in San Francisco '16 or Live at Levitation '16, or just listen to People-Vultures from Nonagon Infinity to hear it. This little organ is too powerful for its own good, I love it so much haha.
Insanely fun. There are a few moments that aren't quite right (a fair amount of noise during a voiceover, the rarely used phrase 'the elephant in the room' said a second time within only a few minutes, and not quite appropriately), but man, is this entertaining, stylish and well done.
I prefer Yamaha too, either with keys or on wheels. What i miss on all those reface keyboards is the freedom to manipulates the sound in anyway like i could do with the AWM/FM Vector Synth SY-35 back in the 90s, i even found a freeware wich allowed me to edit the FM section further, those days of endless possibilitys might never come back.
After I lost my Nord Electro I had my eye on this little beauty but I was put off by two things. Not very many keys, but I could maybe live with that, and no transpose button... couldn't live with that!
This is easily the best video on TH-cam for this keyboard. Thanks so much for sharing.

This is a little BEAST of keyboard, fun and kind of silly but sonically mighty.
love this bro! the narration and visuals feel like I'm watching the monogatari series haha
omg yes the main inspo for those color cards
Got this keyboard a few weeks ago for the killer hammond sounds. Awesome video, keep it up.
I have the CS and CP and they are incredible. I got rid of the dx because it just didn’t move me. Now considering the YC. I really like how your music played throughout the entire video. Appreciate the enthusiasm.
Yamaha needs to make a Reface MkII...!
this! they knocked it out the park with the reface series but there is still potential to take it to the next level
Yes, all 4 in 1 device.
@@hermask815 that's a Montage, dude...
@@venomslair137 I thought that was the CK61
Really sounds great on the base lines.
this was the ONLY reface that mylocal yamaha had and it was really something else! thanks for talking abt it!
This is a phenomenal video, keep making reviews like this and you’ll have tons of followers in no time. Great music, too!
I use my Reface YC in all my bands!! Such a good keyboard
Wow... what an excellent video!!!! You just sold me a YC... LOL!!!! My next purchase.
Good balance between madness and passion 👍
I prefer Yamaha too, either with keys or on wheels. What i miss on all those reface keyboards is the freedom to manipulates the sound in anyway like i could do with the AWM/FM Vector Synth SY-35 back in the 90s, i even found a freeware wich allowed me to edit the FM section further, those days of endless possibilitys might never come back.
Also, its red and looks cool. Great video
Yeah Yamaha are Awesome !!! I use the PSR E 453 USB interface and it sounds crystal clear
Super helpful video. Definitely makes me want one of these!
After I lost my Nord Electro I had my eye on this little beauty but I was put off by two things. Not very many keys, but I could maybe live with that, and no transpose button... couldn't live with that!
Damn that sounds good, and you're right, never heard of these before.
Guessing the second hand prices for this just sky rocketed.
Ps those Persona jams really hit the spot.
