Hello and good day. Thanks for the great videos. Would you know how I can play a YC88 Organ voice from an external keyboard (Kurzweil K2000S) while playing a piano voice on the YC88? With Thanks Dave in BC
I don't own one, but I've heard the CK88's octave width is 1/8" narrower than the full size keys of an acoustic piano. That's problematic for me. Otherwise, I would probably be pulling the trigger on getting one eventually. It's a classic synth-keyboard width though, so I dunno... maybe I should become more versatile. Afterall, my SY77's keys are just as narrow too.
Ok - so many great keyboards- which keyboard is actually your favourite for live performance? I’ve recently bought an Akai MPC key 61 - I’m going to have to sell it . I’m very happy with the sounds but the shorter black notes in conjunction with the close pivot point is a deal breaker for me . Complex chords which involve black and white notes are a nightmare . Half of my harmony’s are not triggered. I’ve tried to compensate but to no avail. I’m now looking at the Korg in this video or a Korg Krome ex - what do you think ? Many thanks . …Caveat- it needs to be a 61 key because I travel a lot .
The Nord Stage 4 is hands down my favorite for live performance...granted I am not doing electronic music, so I don't care about drums, loops, etc. My staple sounds are piano, EP, organ, and synth sounds, all of which the Nord is the best IMHO. No 61 key though...the 73 Compact is the closest you'll get....still pretty portable though.
How much shorter are the black keys? I've noticed that my old SY77's octave width AND black key length are both 1/8-inch less than those of my Clavinova 860 and CP33. I assume the latter instruments have full size keys: 6.5" and 3.75" respectively.
It’s more about the black key pivot point - triggering the black keys at the back of the key is difficult- takes more than a natural amount of effort. When trying to play lightly the keys often do not sound at all . I’ve sold it now and bought a Yamaha YC 61 - which I’m extremely happy with.
@@haywoodjazzpiano3108 Thanks for the reply. I was wrong about the CK88. I went back to the store after getting some well-earned pushback on another video. Its octaves are standard 6.5". I don't know what got into me. I'm probably going to get a CK88.
i guess there’s no way to make a shimmer effect on The YC the only Way to make shimmer effect is to get the bigsky reverb pedal to connect the output jack
Yes Soundmondo is where you can obtain new and different voices to upload
as a new owner of a YC88 myself I've been loving these videos! keep them coming!
Would love to see an in-ear mix of you playing on a Sunday with the YC! :)
Great video! In how many parts it is possible split the YC73?

just curious if you have any thoughts on the Yamaha CK88 Stage piano? Watered down version of the YC and CP stage pianos. Great video by the way!
