    the fact that a rider of Zack's caliber also cancels his blinkers obsessively, perhaps even more often than I do, makes me feel better.

      They really don't get good mileage at all... The R1 beats it in gas mileage wheelies and all. I personally think the detuning of the engine is to blame for it.
      The bike would absolutely leave you stranded when you leave San Antonio heading west... You'll be empty just shy of the Pecos River. That's the worse stretch of nothing on I-10.

    It's funny with the whole glorification of fancy (complex) electronics on bikes. Cars have had it for decades and Jeremy Clarkson made a great example of the difference between complex electronics and functional electronics. He did a BMW M (cant remember model) review, and he was going on about how the gearbox had 10 different settings and the suspension could be adjusted 5 ways and traction had too many levels etc.. but then he looks down and points at the "M" button and says; "This button is great. It turns all the complex systems into one single setting that just works". This. This is what quality electronics is about. It's not about how infinitely adjustable everything is, it's about having a few key components that just make the bike work really well for common scenarios. People will just be too confused when there are too many settings, and probably never use 70% of it ever. Just have one or two buttons that transform the entire bike into exactly what you need.

    • @officebear4637
      @officebear4637 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Daniel Kemnitz you're making it sound as though bikers can't figure out power, traction, and abs settings... These things aren't difficult to learn...

    • @Real_MisterSir
      @Real_MisterSir 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Roberto Hernandez the real thing is though, that while you are right they need to consider complaints, most modern superbikes and supernakeds have an over abundance of electronics that really aren't needed. 90% of customers would probably be happy with half the tech, as long as it just works well - especially if you have to go into all kinds of sub menus to chance various settings and modes.
      The main reason there is so much tech, is likely because they "need" to be able to say they have as much tech in their bike, as the next manufacturer down the road. If a Kawasaki dealer offers "more tech" on their bike compared to the Suzuki bikes next door, then their bikes will seem more attractive on paper. It has been happening in the car industry for a while, and now manufacturers are starting to tone down some of the tech aspects of cars.

      @justingallagher4864 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It was the E60 M5 that Clarkson reviewed. A V10 monster of a sedan that you can pick up for $20K these days. A complicated car, that one.

    Love your videos zack. FYI I just got home yesterday from riding my 2007 CBR600RR from St Pete, FL to where I live in WI.
    All in all I split my mileage into 2 days. Doing the majority of riding in one day and the last/first 500 miles the other. Yesterday I did 908 miles from ATL Georgia to Brookfield, WI. Yes I am sore... ZERO mechanical issues, no issue with my Michellin Pilot Road 5's which were EXCELLENT and prevented me from getting washed out while in the smokey mountains. Caught in a rain storm while wearing astars atem perf jacket. Sore but was fun! 2900 miles in 54 hours in 4 days.

    Had my MT10 well over two years now. Best bike I've ever owned, plenty of room for a bigger rider like me. Its been perfectly reliable, it's done long tours with some SW Motech panniers and tank bag. At 13,000 miles with no plans to change. Yes it's thirsty but a price worth paying for how it goes in my opinion.

    • @lingenfelterzeeohhsix8154

      Banditmanuk 100% agreed , I've had 14 bikes all supersports R1M , the only Ducati 999r Fila in the US and the MT10 was my favorite hands down and most reliable! Buying another!!!

    My next bike for sure since I went for a test ride a few weeks ago. I actually own a Triumph Street Triple RS. I fell in love with the MT10.
    For those who are complaining about the power (130hp at the wheel) bla bla bla, they do understand nothing! Go and testride it. There is plenty of power, you do not need anything more than that and the torque! Yeah I testrode the Tuono Factory 2018 and yes it feels faster but for me it was too agressive. The Yamaha felt perfect for me and it put a smile on my face like no other bike! Cheers to everyone! Thanks to Motorcyclist mag for the nice video!!!!

      gordon freeman Yes indeed. I read so many complaints of people on MT10 tests that I needed to say it because for Street riding it does not need to have 180hp. Cheers. But yes everyone has to see his own priorities.

    I'm 62 and just got back into bikes buying a second gen mt09 at beginning of covid. Loved it so much I bought a new 3rd gen '21 mt09 last year. Then I found a screaming deal on a blue '18 mt10. I did something odd by flashing ecu while keeping stock exhaust intact. Results were spectacular. I can't keep that beautiful cp4 sound muffled any longer, I have a Yosh Alpha T 3/4 system that's going on it and it will be reflashed again accordingly. Just put EBC DOUBLE-H sintered pads,, best money you can spend.These bikes are just a blast!

    I own the 2017 FZ-10. There is a lot of free travel in the front brakes stock & the power flattens out @ 9500 RPM because the throttle closes to 75% at that speed to pass USA noise emission testing. MZS shortie levers (cheap but good) happened to reduce brake lever free travel to "normal" levels and some EBC HH sintered pads made them plenty aggressive. A flash tune kit takes care of the EPA throttle B/S and allows for tuning and operational changes.

    Hey, Zack! Any interest in the new Honda CB1000R? I have looked and couldn't find to see if you did a commute on this bike. Need some insight on the bike. I'm looking to buy one! Thanks.

    Can you comment on the ground clearance? Must you add rearsets for a trackday if you are in intermediate group?

    These are great, keep up the awesome work...and I really appreciate you covering the rider size topic, I'm a taller rider and have noticed sport bikes shrinking more and more every year.

    @12:40 A CBR250 being used for exactly the same commute - except that it makes about 90 miles/gallon, the guy's not complaining about it and its better at lane splitting in heavy traffic.

    I ended up getting a gen 2 super duke but I was taking a hard look at this and the S1000R.
    Shame I couldn't get a chance to test ride one (and I don't have friends who ride naked's) so I'll never get the chance to compare, don't regret buying an SDR at all though, shame there aren't more performance v twins out there for nakeds.

    Own an MT-10 (living in Europe) with 160hp since it first came out here (May 2016). It pulls to 11000rpm in 5th with ease.
    Riding in 6th from 120kmh it pulls like a tractor (have owned an MT-01). It is flickable and stable in a straight line. l have changed the looks to a single headlight without the front fairing and the taillight (Barracuda). Changed the handlebars to get little more leaned forward position. Great bike. But I am a bit nostalgic at the moment and have been looking at old Kawasakis Z1, Z900,Z1000. So next bike could be a Z900RS.

    Do you guys in the States have a lower powered model? In the UK all the ones that have been dynoed here have 150-152 rwhp. Which is considerably more than a Suzuki gsxs 1000.

    How come Ari never does the MC commute? I do like your reviews Zack! But Ari is closer to my height, and listening to Ari talk about how he fits on the bike is better for me. Just a suggestion and keep up the good work. I also haven't seen on two wheels lately! Why?
