This is very silly indeed. Only people who would truly care people who are industry experts and know it alls. IE: 1st person: Hey nice GPU, how much memory does it have? 2nd person: Do you mean cache memory or the V-Ram memory on the graphics card? (Insert troll face)
Easiest thing here,. A GPU or Graphics Processing Unit is much like a CPU (central processing unit), but more fixed for tasks that are more about literally processing graphics or workloads switched on to do GPGPU or General Purpose GPU processing (this is a term that came up with the rise of things like Nvidia's CUDA and OpenCL). A GPU can be included on the motherboard itself as an embedded solution (much like they are on laptops) or you can even see something like an integrated GPU built into a CPU as a separate "core" of sorts. A graphics card on the other hand is a card that interfaces with the current "bus" standard that is being used for display (in this case PCI-Express 3.0/4.0 are where we are at). This card is made up of that interface on a PCB (printed circuit board) along with your display outs on the back where a GPU, memory, capacitors, and everything else it needs sits on as well as the cooling solution be it passive (no fans, but a heatsink on it and relying on the chassis fans or natural airflow into the case to cool), or a more active solution where you see fans on a shroud over top of the heatsink plus the stuff to power it. The two terms have become sort of synonymous because people are more interested in the GPU than the actual card itself as the card itself is basically your interface to plug in your display, power it all, have it interface with your computer, and get your cooling solution or factory overclocking in. You become interested in the 3090 GPU and then shop for what cooling solution, what overclocked version, etc best fits your needs.
Thank you so much. So I have one question though. Does the same GPU, let's say GTX 1050, have same performance in a laptop compared to the GTX 1050 gpu in a graphic card on a PC desktop?
@@yoyoyo7083 Not particularly no. This has to do with several factors including thermal design and the like. The gap has closed more in recent years, but overall it is slightly slower l.
This explanation is pretty good for ordinary users, but not exactly correct. In the past, not all chips on a video card were considered GPUs. In fact, the term GPU is relatively recent. The first ever chip to use the term GPU was the GeForce 256 from 1999. No graphics chip that came before it had been marketed as a GPU.
This video is wrong ,for the longest time integrated graphics was on the motherboard not the CPU. You can swap motherboards and have different gpus and the same cpu .not all CPUs have GPU on die. An Apu is a cpu with on die GPU(graphics)

yes

Hmm... AI isn't handled by CPU, esp. nowadays when we've moved away from Decision trees and such.

For Bitcoin mining what would you recommend a GPU or Graphics card?
Bit of a nitpick, but GPU is merely an initialism and not an acronym.

do u need both gpu and graphics cards in a pc or is just a graphics card fine
