Well done my friend, well done. My hood release lever didnt break on my sonata, but the actual lever mechanism was dangling when I tried to open it one day - - bc the bolt that holds the lever to the body of the car was so loose that it came out! Tried putting several new bolts in, but evidently the threads in the body are damaged or worn. One of these days ill get around to re tapping that hole so i can finally re mount my hood release lever... AFTER i fix all the (other) things (2007 sonata) GOTTA LOVE DOZE HYUNDAIS! 😂
It's possible, the cable does have a joint right behind the driver side headlights, but I think it's highly unlikely for it to break.. i would still check the latch first.
