Best shotblocking guard in history. Some will say Wade, but had Jordan played in the zone era and could just hang around the lane like Wade used to, he’d be at 1.4+ bpg annually. His timing and instincts and the distance he could cover were on a different level.

    • @nancy9891
      @nancy9891 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Wade grew up in Chicago watching Jordan inspire guards to play defense. Wade, Bryant, and good defenders didn’t believe in standing there and let balls not become turnovers that he returned for more buckets. So exciting to watch them play not just run and shoot a basket.

@@davidschmidt1793facts, because there isn’t one. The two sweeps in ‘86 and ‘87 against that legendary Celtics team with 5 HOFers, he was still out of this world w/o a single All Star on his team. Here’s his averages in those 2 sweeps:
      ‘86: 44/6/6/2/1
      ‘87: 36/7/6/2/2
And he broke and still holds the NBA Playoff record for pts in a game in Game 2 of the ‘86 series with 63 pts. He was named player of the game in 2/3 losses in that 1986 sweep, that’s insane.

But I can admit that Jordan is the GOAT and Magic still my favorite. Jordan was the first to have 200 steals and 100 blocks in a season. And did it mutiple times while aveaging over 30 pounts. He is the only player to be scoring champion, Defensive player of the year and MVP in the same season. You have to have actually watched Jordan to see why his steals and blocks avgs were so high. He had great length as he's seeing in this video, but great instincts, understanding of where the offensive player was going with the ball, great reflexes and huge hands. Just an incredible defender. I'd take him as a defender over Pippen if he wasn't shouldering the offensive load as much as he did.

Dropping on the floor, when someone looks at your direction, complaining at your teammates while pretending to be a statue, sitting out games continuously with a supposedly ankle injury playing the next game like nothing's wrong etc etc.

Mic drop ! Still don't know why pundits keep trying to convince sane people that Lebron James is a better all around player than Mike . Truth is , there's literally nothing Lebron is better at than Jordan ! Nothing ! Except committing offensive fouls . It's easy to get chase down blocks when you're 6'8" and the guy doesn't know you're coming ! But to consistently get the kind of blocks Jordan was getting , particularly when the offensive player clearly knows Jordan is guarding him straight up , requires maximum effort , Supreme athleticism , hand eye coordination , instincts , desire , etc . . Lack of maximum effort & unteachable innate instincts alone disqualify Lebron from being compared to the guy . I mean you can do it , but as the young man admitted , after a few short seconds of watching the video it became clear immediately that Lebron James in no way measures up . We don't even have to address the lie that Lebron is more athletic than Jordan ... do we ? Okay just in case , Jordan's vertical was higher 48 " to Lebron's 44 " ( 4 whole inches less ... hmmm ) . Mike's 40 yd dash time was 4.3 to Lebron's 4.6 ( slow as hell in comparison ) . Your eyes clearly tell you that in no way is Lebron quicker than Jordan . So appealing to your common sense , in what universe is Lebron James a better all around and more athletic player than Jordan ? I'll wait for answer .... exactly , CRICKETS !Take note that I didn't mention anything about offensive ability . The good Lord & Stevie Wonder ( Stevie is blind for those that are unaware ) knows Lebron stands zero chance in that comparison ! I hear fanboys revving up for a hailmary ... well before someone tries to desperately suggest that Lebron is a better passer than Jordan , wrong again ! Documentation and video footage is available for . Refer to the season where Jordan was asked to play point guard for 24 games ( 1989 ) .... 30.4 points , 9.2 rebounds , 10.7 assists and 2.5 steals per game . While shooting 49 % from the floor . During that period , he had 10 game stretch averaging a triple double ! Ah damn , looks like he's even a better rebounder than Lebron ! Damn Bron ! It'll be okay . Just be you and be satisfied ... stop trying to fool yourself & others into believing that you compare to Jordan . Sir you absolutely , unequivocally , sure as death DO NOT !!!💯

Jordan's wingspan was almost 7ft at 6'6, he still had the highest vert in nba history at 48 inches he ran a 4.3 - 40yd dash & had some of the biggest hands in nba history. He was just dominate at both ends of the floor. He is the best shot blocking & rebounding guard in history there was no real weakness in his game when he avg almost 12 ast during 91 finals he was a great passer & he could shoot the 3 when needed.

And the thing is MJ would do it every game! Play offense and defense his whole career, giving it all whenever he played, and no load management. Even his last year, as a Wizard, he played all 82 games, averaging 1.5 steals and 0.5 blocks that year, at age 40. During his Chicago years, you knew you'd see MJ play if you watched the game, and you'd see him giving his all out on the court. And that's why most people know he's the GOAT. Ever since then, whenever I watched I've seen no one being close to such competitive drive, except for Kobe. And watching the games today, I see nothing even remotely close to MJ's package. If you have time, try to watch full games with MJ playing and you'll notice it's there every game. =)

Sorry youngblood, but I was around during Wilt. Those "Plumbers" would kick your ass. Wilt MADE them look like plumbers. Ther was NOTHING they could do with him. Even with more black players in the late 60s, they could do nothing. Wilt played against MORE HOF CENTERS than any other center. Russell, Unsell, Bellamy, Gilmore, Kareem, Thurmond, etc. None of them could do a thing with Wilt. This is one of those instances in which you "had to be there" to understand. Also, the game was more physical than highlight videos would indicate. Again, you had to actually be there to know.
Kids today worry too much about getting "Shook", so they play timidly. You have to be willing to take some "L's". That is how you learn.

Jordan's "magic" on defense was his ability to bait the opposing players into making the moves he already knew they were going to make. Sometimes he would defend a pair, letting his team defend 4 on 3. This made the ball handler think there was an easy pass to the "open" teammate, but Jordan was there waiting.

no. jordan is the goat because there is no comparison to any other player until now. The closest to Jordan was Kobe, and it was a close one. The rest, do not matter in this comparison. Cut the crap with this Lebron shit. Lebron is not better than Kobe. And he will never be.

My favorite defensive play by MJ is not even on this video. It’s when he chased down Reggie Theus and dug out the steal, then took it to the other end and drove on two people to score. “He wouldn’t leave him alone!” said the announcer.

Jordan was the first player in NBA history to have 200 steals and 100 blocks in a season. In 86-87 he had 236 steals and 125 blocks, then turned around in 87-88 had 259 steals and 131 blocks. Only 3 players in NBA History have had a 200 and 100 season. Jordan (Twice), Olajuwon, and Pippen.

8:22 The idea that Jordan had “some” competition is bizarre. The rules were different. They had less leeway than they do today. It isn’t that he had less competition it’s that they had harder more rigorous rules. Today they SEEM more athletic because of the freedom they now have.

There are 3 players in NBA history to ever have 200 steals, and 100 blocks of a season. Jordan is the only one who did it twice. He is also tied for the most seasons with 200+ steals. He was top 5 in DPOY voting 7 time in the era of big men.

btw, NOT 'one of ...', NAW, Michael Jordan -I-S- [overall] THE BEST 'two-way' player OF ALL TIME. and btw, WHAT IS 'two-way' ?!? 'back in the day', the term, 2way, didnt even exist CAUSE IF U DIDNT PLAY DEFENSE , U WERENT considered a great player [if u only played defense and not offense, u werent considered a great player] back in the day , u HAD TO be good at offense AND defense to be considered 'great' .... 2way is a term that was 'created' FOR 'todays' players cause MOST, if not 99% of todays players DONT GIVE EVEN 'half' the 'effort' ON DEFENSE that they do ON OFFENSE!

Your question of "Most Blocks for a Guard"... Dwyane Wade is slightly ahead of Jordan in second place.... but only because of number of games played. Wade averaged 0.8 blocks per game while Jordan averaged 0.9. In fact... He had more blocks than #3 through #7 in less games than them. G.O.A.T.

Lol. No disrespect to Bron, but it's not even close my guy. It really isn't. For the last 10 years it's been soft as charmin, that's the only reason it seems close. But it's comically distant - even the "plumbers" from back then could catch wreck in this pace and space era. I'm not denying the talent of this era, but crowd them....get in their grill and shit isn''s as nice. Jordan is that guy, it's not even close. Peace to the God's, Earth's and 85er's.
