After having a stent placed 10 years ago due to a blocked artery I went completely plant based. I lost a bunch of weight and became very healthy. I recently asked my cardiologist if I can have a CAC test. But he explained to me that it would be a waste of time because he already knows I have coronary heart disease because of the stent placed 10 years ago. But I was thinking I would score well because I've been eating plant based compliantly and taking a statin. Not sure if he is correct or not?

Most elderly people have problems getting up off the floor. As a child you spend a lot of time on the floor, adults do not.
Doing yoga / stretching exercises on the floor can improve balance, mobility, flexibility and the ability to get up and down..
Just getting up and down to the floor in a controlled manner is difficult for many older adults.
Play with your children on the floor. Bend over, get down and pull weeds in your garden. Play with a pet on the floor.
The more effort you make to work on balance and flexibility will pay dividends as you age.

Hi Dr Kahn. Concerning HDL, there seems to be the issue of HDL functionality that may be reduced in some cases, like when there is excess oxidative stress, leading to less ability to perform reverse transport of cholesterol in the plaques. How can we improve the HDL functionality? I've heard some drugs have attempted to raise HDL in the hope that that would reverse atherosclerosis, but that failed. Is it due to the fact that those drugs lower the HDL functionality at the same time? Just wondering.

No good test for function so noone knows. An elevated MPO level predicts HDL dysfunction

Have you encountered patients with the Lean Mass Hyper Responder (LMHR) phenotype who insist on following a low carb diet in your practice, and if so, have you observed deterioration in their condition over time? It seems misguided to me, but I've people I care about who are wedded to this notion. I'm concerned for their health, and I wonder if my apprehensions are misplaced.

I like the video of Dennis Pullock. He helped and helps millions of people to beat Diabetes all over the world. He follows Dr. Bernstein and Dr, Bikman. Dennis looks like he survived The Victorian workhouse to me. Something doesn't add up. He doesn't look healthy to me. He uses his glucose meter before he crosses the street. If his glucose meter doesn't agree, he won't eat that certain food. Glucose meters are very important, that's true. But, I could be wrong about him.

Kahn, when you go on these meat eating bro science channels can you be a bit more aggressive and not agree with nearly every point they make. People who eat plants already have a stigma of being weak, lets not add to it.

I have always felt , keto people and carnivores tend to be generally more aggressive, even hostile in defending their choices. I had noted for a long while, but thought maybe l was just bias. Is it the meat or simply the traits of those choosing a meat-dominant diet?

He can agree all he wants. Basically they are speaking the same language the only difference is one has the focus on veggies and the other on meat. Both work IF you delete processed foods, seed oils and sugars and increase physical activity. But vegans have to supplement far more than carnivores because red meat does contain more necessary ingredients.

    • @Roarmeister2
      @Roarmeister2 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@chanwaileong9880 Vegans don't hesitate to tell you they are vegan even if the conversation has NOTHING to do with it. Most are bat shit crazy and bear it as a religion because of their stance against eating animals. A vegan diet also promotes estrogens in males which affects their testosterone. In women it can interrupt their periods and menopause. Vegan suffer a much higher rate of depression and attempt suicides more than the general public. They are missing a lot of nutrients necessary for a healthy life and 80% eventually go back to eating meat to some degree.

You are what you eat. Your diet impacts your health.
Lower stress, reduce obesity, get enough sleep and more exercise are key to a healthy life.
Obesity in children and adults is rising across the world.
Fast food and sugary drinks including fruit juices are contributing to the problem of poor health and obesity.
Eat a healthy plant based diet and exercise regularly.
Reduce or ELIMINATE cows milk, eggs, cheese and meat. Eat more salad greens, beans, fruit and vegetables. Eliminate fast food, snacks like cookies, cakes, chips, and sugary drinks and juices.
Every adult and child should own a bicycle and ride it regularly.
Regular exercise will help you sleep better. Yoga is a great stress reducer.
Obesity is all too common today. Get off the couch. Get off the phone, ipad or video game.
A variety of stretching and other exercises help with increased mobility.
Ride to work, ride to school, ride for fun.
Every city should be a bicycle city.
Speak up for bicycles in your community

FACT: People ARE eating less meat and eggs for the last 50 years due to the dietary guidelines from 1977, and the lies created by Big Food to eat fake processed food and by Big Pharma who want to fix everything with a pill; obesity and heart disease have still been going up at parabolic rates. Red meat, eggs, and cheese is NOT the problem. FACT: Keto and carnivore diets improve health dramatically not denigrate it. LDL is NOT the problem. Poor metabolic health and insulin resistance IS the problem. Pop a pill philosophy is the problem. Anti-real food is the problem.
