I would disagree with your closing statement of this video being "not the most educational". It not only shows what ingredients I could think about adding to my diet, but also how I would be able to do that. You provide all this beautiful information about singular ingredients and I tend to struggle to connect them into something I can eat routinely. Giving insight in how you yourself go about it with some of these ingredients helps me a lot with that.

It’s been a great addition to my diet since it’s relatively cheap and nutritious. A few comments. Almonds, the oxalates are mostly on the skin. You can remove it or Blanche them to reduce it. You can also take calcium at a different time to bind it for removal.
Broccoli, for sulfirafane benefits you should combine it with ground mustard seed.
Butter for cooking. Butter has a low smoke point as does olive oil. Try coconut oil, its high smoke point combined with the medium chain triglycerides and lower long chain triglycerides makes it a winner. Add butter after you cook food to benifit from small chain triglycerides.

Great video as always Talon. I definitely prefer your more educational style videos, but it's definitely refreshing to get to know your personal habits a bit better
Before you completely give up on green tea, may I suggest (if you haven't done so already) that you try brewing it between 70-75 C (158-167 F). Usually this means putting the kettle on, pouring your mug as soon as the kettle's done, then waiting about 5 min before adding your teabag. A lot of people don't know that brewing your tea at an excessively hot temp (>80C) will make it bitter...this is why homemade green teas, or those purchased at cafes, will be very bitter but the ones served at asian restaurants are generally mild and pleasant.
Also, surprised that butter made the list. I understand it given the caveat that you pair it with lean animal proteins and only have maybe 5-10g at a time, but I definitely didn't expect it to make a "top 10"-style video given the vast amounts of research into the links between saturated fats, LDL cholesterol, and cardiovascular disease risk. Proof that moderation is key!

Frying eggs in coconut oil is also really good👌
Also if you've had bad experiences with green tea that for a few reasons. 1) you probably used tea bags(these use very low quality tea) 2) you probably used too high temperature(higher temps on green tea bring out more butter compounds, these bitter compounds are pretty healthy so take that how you want) 3) you probably steeped it for too long(similar to number 2, the longer you steep the more bitter it gets and the worse it gets). If you want good green tea(or just good tea's in general) get into loose leaf or gong fu style of tea brewing. I just got into it and it's changed my life already! If you still wanna use tea bags I've found pukka supreme matcha green tea is really good. You can steep at basically boiling water and it doesn't get overly bitter like most green teas will. So it's a good option when you just need tea not he go!

I started eating zucchini. I have a hard time eating vegetables but tried incorporating more and found the zucchini to be so versatile. Before I only had it once as zoodles and hated it. But it works so well in scrambled eggs with cottage or feta cheese and bell pepper, also pairs very well with tomatoes of any kind and tastes very good in potato soup and also in stir-fries. Now it‘s one of my kitchen rotation staples!
I also added Greek yogurt. It‘s a fast and easy breakfast paired with almond butter, flaxseed oil, granola or chia seeds and berries or banana.
My next step would be healthy dinners as I struggle with those

There are plenty of soup, fresh salad bar + hot bar choices and you can make the weirdest combinations because you pay per weight. Just having shrimp and mushrooms for lunch for instance is possible but having four different hot vegetable dishes combined too. I rarely snack in the evening now.

A couple of things I spotted in this video:
    1. Allicin is a bit tricky to obtain, it depends how you prepare the garlic.
    2. You are mixing up cashew with the cashew seed (which a lot of people think it is a nut). Cashew is an edible fruit.

Hey talon, if green tea is disgusting to you, you are probably using too high of temperature for it. Green tea should be steeped at around 85 degrees celsius. Brewing it at black tea temperatures will cause it to be astringent and bitter.
Personally I find the tea used in tea bags to be really low quality, so if you want some good green tea i recommend loose leaf like sencha or longjing. Brew them at 85C and enjoy :)

I started eating many other things too, but this has got to be the biggest change.

I swapped cooking my eggs in butter to ghee, and it was amazing. I can keep it simple with a bit of heavy cream, salt, pepper, and ghee, or doll it up with some added turmeric, paprika, and celery salt over regular salt. I've started using ghee in my ramen noodles with garlic and onion powder and maybe a bit of chicken bouillon for extra flavor and broth; I've found that I enjoy them more because it's so satisfying and fulfilling to me. Going into 2024, I'm looking forward to eating more of the foods listed here, especially mushrooms, as well as a few others in your ranked videos...that I'll now be binging, lol. Thanks for this!! 💙

I started cooking a lot with Avocado oil. It can take high heat unlike Olive oil, and it’s high in Monounsaturated fats for hormone production.
It’s also got a lot of Oleic acid and it’s a very good neutral oil, which means it doesn’t mess with the flavor of whatever you cook in it. You can basically use it for anything and it’s pretty healthy.

I loved the video and couldn't agree more with your additions this year, well done. I however will say that those garlic numbers need work, most nights I use a half bulb of Music Garlic and love every minute of it. On onions you should join the cult of the Pickled Red Onion especially if you are doing tacos often.
As for my own addition this year, though somewhat controversial, just plain Whole Milk. I was looking for a low cost alternative to Protein bars, as eating more than one a day gets expensive, and realized that 12oz of Whole Milk has almost the exact same stats as the bars I was eating. Now I routinely pour myself a glass of milk for a quick 12g of protein, or more frequently ferment it into Kiefer or yogurt of which I have both daily. I just picked up a Ninja Creami and will likely transition to Protein Ice cream for my nightly sweet treat so 2023 has been the year of the cow for me.

    I started eating vidalia onions in late 2023. I can’t eat other onions raw they must be cooked. or it gives me sensory issues. But my husband loves all onions - and often wants them both raw & cooked depending on what we’re eating. I learned from him I can eat vidalia onions raw and it tastes wonderful;
I shouldn’t have been so stubborn and tried it sooner like he kept suggesting. I still eat other onions cooked but now about half the time when I eat cooked onions I reach for the Vidalias. They made me eat onion more often since now I have an onion I can eat raw.
I also recommend trying out ghee if you love butter!
