I just like how Trench Crusade is to 40k as Fear & Hunger is to Darkest Dungeon - some scary Finnish bloke going "this is a bit fucking lightweight" and going all in.
40k's always gonna have a spot in my heart but this game is just so visceral. My Christan friend doesn't like it because of that, my other friend doesn't like it because he thinks it's a disservice to god. To each their own. No game has used Christianity and warped it in such a way, into something so bloody and violent in a way that's accurate in some ways to history. No other game dares take Islam and its "end times story" like Trench Crusade does. The legions of Hell are bloody and evil, the Black Grail is so cool (Though still the weakest faction looks wise). The game is like Mörk Borg. It's a trench club to the face. It doesn't care about "facts" or "logic". It's cool and metal through-and-through

This game is just an Hall of fame of the golden era of GW: Tuomas Pirinen, John Blanche, Mike Francina, Des hanley, Dave Gallagher, Paul Bonner... What a time to be alive

I mean, sure, not all old stuff is perfect, there's a reason why we upgrade or change things, but in 40k case, the rule change removed a lot of deep from the gameplay in order to appeal the competitive side, is the game easier? It is but with less options and players have re-adapt their strategies because GW loves metachasers.
Knowing a little bit about trench crusade I wouldn't be surprised if Dante's inferno isn't just poem but a actual event that takes place in this alternate timeline.
@@AevasHouse Both and yes I know visceral studios took creative liberties when making the game. I would expect this version for this fictional timeline to not be 1:1 to either book or game.

@@halosas9854 Not only that, but also Africa (Ethiopia is a confirmed Christian stronghold in-lore), the Slavic nations, and Asia (the revelation of Hell wouldn't damage their religions as much as you'd think since most of them already have an interpretation of one or more "Hell Realms")
I still think it would’ve made more sense lore wise if the demon invasion happened during the Second Crusade. The Templars barely had any members during the first. It would make more sense if they did the ritual that unleashed the demons during Saladin’s besieging of Jerusalem.
Yeah and the whole gate of hell thing really isn't very realistic either, I mean come on really? We all know that didn't really happen. Cool artwork but not realistic.

As a Christian of ancient Orthodox faith. There's little in Trench Crusade that can be said to be "accurate" I suppose what you could say is many things are sufficiently "horrible" enough to describe as evil. Especially the "Christian" side of things. Which describes enough heresy and wrong teaching to make the Catholic Church and all it's Protestant spawn blush.
Make a mobile game free in the Balkans and East Europe (make it 40 in Hungary) and make it be like a simple an fun rpg where I can mow things that resemble my brother and upgrade my man so I can take 3 TRENCHES INSTEAD OF 2
