This is cool! One suggestion, though: I don't want some arbitrary score. I want the score to be a reflection of how much money my ads have earned for #TeamSeas. It's all well and good to know that "playing this game earned some money for TeamSeas" but I have no way of knowing if it's like 10 cents or a hundred dollars. Quantifying that would give people a much greater sense of accomplishment and motivation to play. Taking the idea further, your $earned value could then be linked to other upgrades, such as cooler looking boats or advancing in rank from "deck swab" all the way up to "fleet admiral" or something.
@@mlguy8376 I don't know, but why would it be? You provide a space for Google to display different ads to different people, and then at the end they work out how much to pay you based on a bunch of different metrics. Not only that, but I wouldn't be surprised if a threshold needs to be met before they even pay out anything. So, whilst it may be totally possible to get all this information in a breakdown at some point. It seems unlikely in real-time... But that's just an educated guess. I build till software for a retail company.
@@YouReyKarr its also possible that its against google policies to display income as well. I dont know if thats the case, but I know they have some touchy policies about sharing income information on like youtube and stuff.
Took me about 3 hours to max everything. I put the ad-rate to medium, needed some breaks to rest my fingers in between. ;) Great game, and first time in my life I wasn't irritated by the ads. ;)
Love the idea! And pretty entertaining for a clicker game from the few minutes I've played so far. Usually, I'll get annoyed by the ad breaks, but knowing its all going to actually clean up trash in the ocean is awesome! These subpar ads can at least be put to good use.
In 10 minutes my phone got so hot it wouldn't charge. Looks like the collisions are the biggest problem. I think you should simplify the colliders (static cube or sphere) or disable collisions between the trash completely. When not clicking GPU quickly gets up to 100% as well so there's that too
Aesthetics and synchronization! The one thing this game felt it was missing, when you upgrade your ship, you should see small but noticeable changes to the design of your ship.
TeamSeas goal is to remove 30M pounds of trash from the ocean by the end of the year. By estimations, about 50-60M pounds of trash are added to the ocean... per day.
Rigidbodies are pretty expensive, you'd probably be able to squeeze more performance by only storing a random initial angular velocity, and a float speed, then using transform.Translate(toCenter * speed * Time.fixedDeltaTime) and transform.Rotate(angularVel * Time.fixedDeltaTime). DOTS may also help but I haven't used it before.
Love the Gran Turismo arcade music there. Took me back for a second. xD Idea: Build a solar/wind--powered RCFPV unsinkable [ha i know] mini-ship that could via some mechanism collect trash. Would need its own "port" to unload its cargo.
I was about to download this and support the seas, but then you go ahead and dump on my boy pizza pineapple. So now I'm headed to the beach with a bag of bottles in need of release into the wild.
Prior to trying pineapple pizza for the first time (a couple of days ago), I always gave in to the idea that people should respect others' tastes in food because everybody's preferences are different. Having tried it now, I think pineapple on pizza should be launched into the sun along with anyone who thinks that it tastes pleasant. Thank you.
I know this comment is 11 months old but I have to know. Was there also ham on the pizza? Because that is the only scenario were pineapple should be considered as a pizza topping.
Maybe we should have a clean the code to clean the sea version... that the better we rewrite sections of the code... the faster the boat collects the garbage and the more cyber money we make from those who approve our code... that way... the game can keep improving as by many of us in a voting sort of way.
Awesome Tutorial. I have been live streaming for about 6 months and this is the first time I've seen you. You really opened the doors to lots of new elements I was not aware of. Thank you!
Jabrial nice to meet you after long time. I used to watch your content when I was in high school. Now i am working as professional, I just remembered those nice days.
I'd like a game where you could control a physical submarine drone in real life via your device or pc app where you need to servo-navigate manually to help pick up and clean trash. At night time when you are sleeping it can be set to autopilot mode so it cleans trash as you sleep. Compete with others to pick up as much trash as you can. Bring the trash back to shore and earn points which could be converted to cash. Top 10 on the leaderboard gets a trophy or something (or I dunno).
What the frick is wrong with TH-cam. I'm subbed to you with the bell on, still I didn't get any notif for this and this is only showing up in my recommendation 3 days later..... Wtf yo
You NEED to spread the word on this! I already sent to some friends, but that wont be enough. Make TikToks about it, make a Twitter acount over it, make a fucking discord server that recruits vollunteers who want to help spread the message to other people. This is THE BEST WAY to earn money to TeamSeas without forcing an audience to pay. You are doing an amazing thing for the World and everyone should know about this!!!
Change the auto radius for little boats that you can hire that collect a certain amount of trash. You can increase the number of boats, amount of trash (weight?) and speed they can travel
I've watched a bunch of videos about team seas. But I still have a question, where does the trash removed from the ocean go? How can we be sure that it wont just go back into the ocean?
Bro your channel is one of the best coding channels to make people more interested in approaching their projects in a fun way. Presentation style is also the best 💯
I think this could be fun, but it runs sooooo sluggish on my oldish phone, so it's unfortunately unplayable for me. I think that game Idea would have been perfectly fine as a little 2D game (top down) maybe even written in JS. There would be far less performance problems that way.
Would be nice to have a setting for where the money/score should be shown. I'm lefthanded and cant see the score when I rapidly pressing the screen, my hand is covering that part. So a setting to move the score to the right side of the screen would be nice. ;)

Jo, I love the idea, but i think you underestimate how important the looks of a game is. That's something I noticed with a lot of your projects. I know everyone is always saying graphics don't matter and I agree with that people keep playing a game, if the gameplay is fun. But in order to get people to play the game, basically the most important thing is that it looks nice. And Im not talking about realism. You just need a decent art style and be consistent with it. Look at that boat. The whole game is centered around it and it honestly looks like shit. It doesn't even match the water. Just model a low poly boat in blender in 30 minutes. It's not a lot of effort and will make the game look 100x more attractive. Other than that, nice Video! Keep up the good work!
I love this idea. Accumulation games are so addicting, and now it's time to put that addiction to good use!

make a game that is about planting trees and for every hundred trees planted in the game one tree gets planted in real life.
suggestion: the cost of the upgrades should increase after every purchase
It does but way too slowly
suggestion 2: make the upgrade menu always visible either on one of the sides, or at the top/bottom of the screen.

tried the game out, seems like it'd be pretty fun if it can get to a point where it runs smooth
yup, I'm glad he optimized it my phone can barely handle it.
Yep, runs at 4-5 fps for me and trash doesn't float towards my boat when I click it.
