Imma Thai that practiced Muay Thai his knees are so good. It would be great if he can do Muay Thai clinch take down and clinch throw too it will add more diversity to his style.

His takedowns are def the weakest part of his game.

I had seen nor heard Justin speak on Oliveira in the post fight. It's wild to hear such an animal speaks so poetically on experiencing a victorious opponent.
... The champion has a name!

Ye I put a lot on that interview! Justin is kind of a no bullshit guy so to speak highly of the power of Charles, and gaethje has fought some good hitters like alvarez, michael johnson and chandler, that says a lot to me!

Great breakdown, one question though.. would those teeps backfire against a dominant wrestler/grappler like Islam who is actively looking for takedowns

I think the way he throws it is like am awkward snap kick which can be really hard to time and catch but ye definitely has the potential to be caught by someone as good as Islam! Charles doesn't seem to give a shit about anything though 😂 its what I love most about him he doesn't over think anything and just goes. If he ends up on the floor it will be interesting to see how the jiu jitsu matches with the dominant top control of Islam! Great question man and thank you for commenting!

I think he kind of offered the leg to Kevin Lee in order to get the guillotine on the takedown. He hammers his opponents with the snap kick/teep and then he can offer it as bait to wrestlers who are looking for a way to avoid his striking. If you watch R3 with Kevin Lee, it's essentially Oliveira offering an easy takedown to a battered Lee and capitalising on his eagerness to take it. He's a smart guy and his striking is superb.
Great videos Pro Striking. Your breakdown of the Gaethje fight was spot on. Think I watched it 20 times. So much action in 4 minutes. Oliveira is P4P #1 IMO

To pull off a lean back right hand is pretty slick, especially at the highest level of the sport. The counter left hooks on a lean. Tasty. To turn a scissor knee, into a snap down guillotine attempt, into a measured right hand; damn son. Don't get any slicker. The knees in the clinch, the fluidity moving through correct techniques into the different ranges...I recommend viewing half speed to see and appreciate. The man can strike.
