The iPad works amazingly the box came a little dirty, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA no plastic wrap, but the box was sealed and had everything else in the box along with the wrapping, the iPad itself is gorgeous, I got the yellow 64g game storage is good for me along with Socials and school stuff. No scratches or marks came with the charger and box fast speed, and if you are buying a pen get the 1st gen don’t make the mistake I did !!

Great post. I've owned 5 generations of iPad over the last 12 years and it took me til now, (having 2 kids and needing to get stuff done) that a Surface Pro was the all in one device I needed. I've been using a work issue Surface Pro 6 for the last 3 years and to this day it covers what I need to do the most efficient with little to no compromise...

Similar experience here. I bought the iPad Pro 12.9” M1 2TB two years ago and upgraded to the M2 when it came out.
I was pretty blown away with how responsive the iPad Pro is…but that wore off pretty quickly with the realisation of just how restrictive the iPad is. I was pretty shocked to find that I couldn’t really access the underlying file system and really disappointed with the lack of desktop type software for the iPad Pro, despite it having 16GB RAM… I realised that the iPad is just a toy unless you’re a “digital content creator” 🙄 and even then, after trying out the surface pro, it blows the iPad away.
I really don’t think Apple has a right to call any ipad “pro” because they’re just expensive toys for watching movies or sketching.

Finally, the SP9 is an excellent device, and MS has refined this to the point of peak evolution, and I would recommend it for Windows fans even if they do not use the tablet part. Please wait until the price drops, as they are a bit expensive. I got an SP8 for a family member for £600 about 4 months after the launch, and as we already had the keyboard and pen, it was a bit of a bargain. No point in upgrading from SP8 to SP9, obviously!

    • @sloppynyuszi
      @sloppynyuszi ปีที่แล้ว +4

I would say the SP 9 is a bit of a downgrade. No headphone Jack :D a better processor is always better, but if the performance is fine now then it’s not worth upgrading, and a discounted SP8 might still be the better get.

If you want a device to complement your existing desktop or laptop computer then the IPad Pro M2 is probably overkill and overpriced. An IPad Air or 10 gen would probably be a far better choice. I don’t know for who the IPad Pro is made for. It is a seriously limited device compared to a computer and it costs the same or even more.

An iPad (Pro) user for over 10 years since day 1. Finally had ENOUGH of iPadOS/iOS restrictive and limited wall garden. Power doesn't mean squat if you can't use it.
Got a Surface Pro 9 5G, BUT Microsoft still has a long ways to work on those Translation/Emulation layers, refine the touch/gesture interface and widen the portrait aspect ratio.
Qualcom and Dimensity's part needs to improve their chips because I really believe Windows and Linux on Arm will be the future the majority of people.

Yeah dude. It really depends on how people use them and what they need them for. I got an iPad mini, and it was my little companion buddy for like a month. And then I realized it just acts like a phone. It is just a slightly bigger phone. When I actually need to create something or work, I go to my desktop. My iPad mini is basically collecting dust right now. I can't get over the "oversized phone" concept, from everything to the lack of customization to your home screen to the lack of windowed applications. I like it, it is well build and smooth as butter, but it doesn't really fix what I needed fixed. I should have saved and purchased a new Surface Pro. 🤷‍♂️

My world is investing and the investment app I use on the iPad Pro is about 100 times better than any other platform. Including desktop class applications. There is no such app on the Surface Pro. Why is that you ask? Surface Pro sells very few units compared to the 45 million yearly iPad units sold by Apple. So it behooves developers to do an iPad version long before considering the much lower volume Surface Pro. I'm sure this is true of many other areas of the world of apps. iPad has Surface beat by a mile in terms of variety and quality.

Nobody is talking about it, but the charger you need for surface is bigger, similar to the MacBook, it needs 65w. Where as iPad Pro can be charged with your iPhone charger (change the cable to usb c). Small, handy and cheap. All in all, of course, surface is a better device for all office work. For ex, try to compare folder and file contents of two folders, good luck w that on an iPad and count how many clicks and switches you need for this simple task

    • @72PMChambers

You can use a PD 65W+ USB C chargers via USB C so this is no different to the iPhone charger except iPad requires PD 20W charger so they're a touch cheaper if not buying OEM. The 65W+ charger often have multiple USB outlets USB A & C. So can charge multiple devices, but, to get 65W can only use one outlet.
The benefit of the iPad charging is that at max PD20w you can use cheap battery bricks. I have not found a battery unit that meets 65W cheaply. A 20,000mAh battery is quiet a lot of power in a small brick.

Intel 12 gen is significant jump in performance than 10 or 11, making pro now a joy to use. iPad Pro doesn't make sense anymore to me...Drawing and writing digitally are imperative for my use case and Microsoft Journal and Rebelle 5 alone offer impressive experience. Drag and drop, clipboard, multitasking snap frames, always on top etc are some standard features I just can't work without. IPadOS can't even do that for similar price. Of course Apple products are way overpriced and overrated courtesy die-hard fan base always on media stroking their self-esteem to justify their spend. My loyalty is only towards innovation and better value and I haven't seen either from Apple for quite some time now. After 2018 iPad Pro, all my upgrades didn't really feel like any better experience... Doesn't matter how powerful the hardware maybe iPad OS won't let us make the most of it... You buy a ferrari but can't take it outside the parking... So just go with other cheaper ipads because they offer better value and same OS.

Similar but very different. The Surface Pro 9 is superior because it has a fully functioning O/S. I only have Apple products but I will never get the iPad Pro because of the inferior O/S. On the flip-side, the iPad Pro has the better hardware - superior battery life and superior screen. Mate MacOS with the iPad Pro and I will buy it.

Dude, the screen isn't that much better than you think. As far as battery life, the IPAD will last longer, but the Surface will get you a full day of usage. Though depending on what you are actually doing will determine that. Besides that, trying to compare a limited Mobile OS to a full-blown Desktop OS is a little ridiculous and we all know which is far superior.

    Happy Holidays!
I could not have said it better. However, I often wonder why there are so many iPad comparisons between Microsoft’s Surface Pro. One can certainly compare them, but I ask why you would. One product is a mobile operating system that does an excellent job of being a tablet. By adding a keyboard and touchpad goes a long way to make it more productive and laptop like. But at the end of the day, it’s a mobile operating system tablet, though a very powerful one.
When I think of a laptop computer, I certainly would include Apple MacBook products. But when I think of tablets to compare, I would consider the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. I certainly can compare the Samsung Galaxy S8 Ultra to my laptop computer, but again why?
I can understand if you are someone who does not need a computer and your smartphone and tablet meet all your needs, well then you are all set. You have your Apple iPhone and iPad and that is all that is needed. And I can see the same for a Samsung Galaxy S smartphone and Galaxy Tab S tablet user. But once you determine you need a computer laptop, then a mobile operating system tablet just will not do.
I see nothing wrong with having all three form factors, a smartphone, tablet and laptop. That said, Windows PCs offer a design and form factor that Apple products do not and that is the integration of the tablet design in their laptops along with 2 in1 convertible form factors. Apple has no offering, which is unfortunate. Apple should consider adding a MacBook 2 in 1 convertible form factor for a premium price and let their customers decide if that is of value to them. I hear that is not the direction Apple is willing to go, due to the potential impact to iPad sales. I understand, but I can only imagine how Apple would design their convertible laptop. I hope Apple will consider this sometime in the future. Only time will tell.

Just further underscores how Apple needs to make a tablet Mac. iPadOS is really nifty but sorely lacking in both the OS and available software. Linux, macOS, and Windows all let you accomplish anything you can think of. iPadOS lets you accomplish "most" things one team at Apple deem you worthy of accomplishing.
I've got an M1 iPad Pro and a 2018 MacBook pro. While the iPad is twice as "powerful" as the laptop it's only 1/10 as capable and as John alluded to it's really just an expensive portable television.

You need to get out more! There are loads of pro apps; from DaVinci (in beta) to Procreate and many others that are very good. With Stage Manager in beta 16.2 looking much better, you are a bit too negative about the iPad, and I suspect for many people it could easily be their only device. My parents, for example, have ditched their laptops and gone with iPad Pro. For them, it is far better than Windows which has been a mess for many years, though finally, W11 is trying to repair that. Even for me, 95% of my work is on an iPad and just need a Mac for 5% (using a 6-y-o MB Pro 15).

I've gone for a mac book air pro 2. Tablet wise I'm more than happy with my ipad mini, having moved from a larger ipad.
I've had several android tablets, and whilst Samsung products the best for android, these days it's easy to work between us and android seamlessly (I use an LG v60). And I've been disappointed with Google's approach to tablets whereas Apple has gone from strength to strength with updates being provided for several years.
I've had a Microsoft Surface of one sort or another over the past several years and enjoy those to.
For creativity, mind mapping, reading, content creation and content consumption, the ipad is my first choice. For MS Office, corporate apps... The surface. The surface has a great kick stand but windows just isn't designed from the ground up for touch based interaction. And that's as someone who enjoyed windows phone UI and metro interface which still lives on to some extent with windows.
What is great is the choice and the competition that prevents companies from settling on their laurels.

Everyone always says that the Surface pro software is better because it has Windows. True, you can run full apps on the surface but the real question is: do you really want to? Most apps run like crap on the surface because its cooling sucks and has no where near enough power to run apps effectively. The end result is a sluggish experience with frequent crashes and insane battery drain plus overheating/throttling. This heat will destroy your battery, leading surface devices to have much poorer longevity than ipads. Also, you will have way more software bugs and glitches on a surface than an ipad simply due to windows compatibility issues. Sure you get windows, but you also get all the bugs and crashes associated with windows.
