I have been finding myself scratching that grass might be greener itch lately too.... I listened to a Landstar, and I listened to another persons gig, only to conclude I have a really good gig where I am, and I'm just gonna have to to settle for averaging $2 a mile right now... There are several other aspects to the gig that make it so easy, and with my paid for truck, I can make money at $2 a mile. What I can do is work more, and improve my fuel mileage to lower expenses. Rates will go up someday.
@@khabrahasunny1947 This video is 5 months old... my contract gets renegotiated every six weeks... we have been able to increase rates a bit... its inching up. But yeah, I'm getting sick of working so hard for so little. There are 47 other staes you can work other than Cali... My old pre-emmission truck isn't even allowed in Cali... F-em as far as I am concerned. Plenty of work, and much cheaper fuel elsewhere, not to mention the jack booted thugs at Cali weight stations. If you are really struggling, you might need to specialize away from van freight into better paying segments like Pinoy has with his step deck.
I haul 45k lbs back and forth daily. My trucks spend 10k year max on maintenance. If that truck is reliable it’s reliable. It’s guys grossing 120k daily but have really good trucks they just spend a lot on trailer tires.
Yea you can haul oversized and and crazy heavy wind turbines and make bank, but the headache that comes with it...idk. what about refrigerated? It's a step up from dry van, no strapping and tarps either
It’s mounted on a tv mounting bracket. I have the old rode mid bracket they have a newer one but I don’t know how that one mounts. I’ll try to remember to add it on a video on how it’s mounted.
What if u do loads to canada like bison? Pinoy trucker and Lakay trucker did USA loads there in diff states. Gentry n sons does yacht and livestock loads too.
Their are no tiers at landstar this is complete bs they pay 65% period they use their load board and a set of brokers everyone had the same chance period this shows you and your friend have very little trucking experience as a owner operator quit giving people advice with limited experience
Sounds like you need to do some more research yourself. I drove for ATS and they have the system in place. Maybe you have not been exposed to open deck division or specialized but I have no doubt that my friend is telling me the truth.
@@pinoytrucking yeah I've only been doing this 20 years I guess I don't know the system glad you worked at ats though even though it has zero to do with landstar I got a wild idea call landstar yourself and see who is right
Yeah I already called. Information is verified and legit. I wanted to make sure my friend wasn’t lying. I’m not here to prove you wrong. I just want to put out the correct information. I did speak to a landstar recruiter today and asked them about it. She did confirm that the Heavy Haul division does have a tier system. The funny thing about the trucking industry. First thing people talk about is how many year they have in the industry. Trucking is so vast that you will need to add another 100yrs on top of that to know all the intricate of it. Like I said I’m not here to bash you but you should really check for yourself. Maybe speak to other heavy haulers? I have no doubt what im saying is 100% legit even with Landstar. Just like ATS they apply the same concept.
@@pinoytrucking I was leased to landstar for years your talking about flat beds and step deck they don't require anything other than a securement class if you have no verified experience then you haul loads to go bigger multi axle but that's not what you were talking about you were talking about a step deck anyway good luck with whatever you do

Looking into reefer as well. I’m mainly trying to focus on freight that will get me closer to the house more often.
You're stealing my thunder, LOL. I was just about to make this same vid. I was at Landstar and Mercer. I grow my own grass now.
@steadytrucker Hahaha I’m reading your mind sir
How do you have your mic stand connected to

I know flatbed is real good in my area the south east region
Yeah I see that when I was down that way.

I looked into Canadian loads. I still don’t know how I feel about. On the other hand. I hear those boats 🛥️ loads pay good.
