  • Explore the picturesque Isles of Scilly with me in this captivating 5.5-mile walk around the islands of St Agnes and Gugh! Located 25 miles west from Land's End in Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly are a hidden gem with a rich history and stunning landscapes.
In this video, I take you on a journey through the charming island of St Agnes, highlighting key points of interest such as shipwrecks, labyrinths, standing stones, and holy wells. Learn about the unique geography and geology of the Isles of Scilly, including the absence of traditional rivers and the clear seas surrounding the islands due to their granite composition.
As we walk along the quay in Porth Conger, passing through historical sites like the old lifeboat house and parish church, I share fascinating stories of shipwrecks, such as the Charlotte Dunbar and the HMS Firebrand lost in the Scilly Naval Disaster. Discover the Troytown Maze, Castle Vean, and other remarkable landmarks that make St Agnes and Gugh truly special.
Crossing over to Gugh at low tide via The Bar, we explore the smaller island's intriguing features, The video also touches on the island's efforts to maintain a rat-free status for bird protection and showcases the breathtaking views and diverse flora.
Whether you're a history enthusiast, nature lover, or simply looking for a virtual island adventure, this video has something for everyone. Join me on this immersive exploration of the Isles of Scilly and don't forget to like, subscribe, and share the video if you enjoy the journey! #IslesOfScilly #StAgnes #Gugh #ExploreNature #Shipwrecks #HistoricalWalk

Another great video, many thanks. I will be back in September and will, no doubt, cover almost all the same paths and tracks as you did.

Hi Rob, I so enjoyed this video. You got absolutely beautiful shots and gave us just enough pertinent information without, as some do, going over the top. My dad has a map/chart on the wall of his bathroom showing the location of all the known wrecks around the Isles.

Thank you for such a lovely comment, I might have the same map! It's such a lovely place with so much history. Have you been to the islands?

@@WalkingDevon I went as a child in the 1960s from Falmouth. We’re visiting by way of a round Britain cruise in August and September and very much looking forward to seeing the Scilly Isles again. Also Orkney and Shetland. Even though I’ve lived in Scotland for many years I’ve never visited those two archipelagos.

Of course, sorry I remember now, I'm working on the St Mary's video this week, it's going to come in two parts!
