Saw this today. At first I thought it was going to be "heavy" with all those guys protesting etc. But then it got better and better and suddenly I was empathizing and loving the teacher, Billy and feeling so bad for the father etc. These performers were perfection.

Try to catch him doing "Expressing Yourself." His tap dancing is phenomenal. Not for the footwork but for the way he dances with his whole body including facial expressions.

August watched this last night (Sunday) on PBS....what an absolute joy to watch!!! Elliot is a exceptional performer..I truly loved seeing him as Billy Elliot, what a talented young man. It's very rare to make me cry when watching things but I have genuine tears rolling down my face, I just had to stop for a minute to blow my nose. Now I know it's not sad but it was actually just an incredible performance and to see him when everyone is applauding him, it's so sweet to see, it just touched my heart.

The whole cast - children and adults - was very balanced for the best result. Since then that filmed show is used to train all future Billy Elliot anywhere in the world.

Billy Elliot is one of my favourite musicals, and Elliott’s performance is incredibly awesome! It’s definitely a huge regret that cannot watch this at West End any more......
Also, I always thought it was kinda odd how he started the role so young (started performing the role at 10) and then leaving just before his 12th birthday (when most Billys do the role at that age). A lot of Billys even do it until they're 14. I then watched Elliott's performances as a 13 year old and omg I understand why he left early. Puberty hit him like a truck. He was literally stretched out and looked like he was a 16 year old, and his voice got so much deeper in such a short amount of time. I don't think he would have been convincing as Billy at that age anymore. So, I guess it was wise he left earlier than most.
@KingofMeereen Exactly, he grew too fast physically. But the length of time he played the role was about the average as the life span of a Billy is about 18 - 24 months. He left early because he was able to start early, meaning that at age 10 he was already tall enough to pass as an 11/12 year old. The other boys who started at age 12/13 couldn’t have started at 10 as they would have looked way too young for the role. I think I saw the video you mentioned from when he was 13. It’s shocking how grown up he looked just a year after he left Billy.

In angry dance he has to do a long tap solo then sing after then carry on dancing u can tell he’s so tired after. It’s the end of the first act though so he gets a break.
today went to see the musical at Bradford and it was a wonderful show. all of us said how brilliant the cast were and a most enjoyable afternoon.
