this was the best non loyd webber show that ever saw. i saw it in the bord gais energy theatre in dublin. Fantastic and outstanding. funny, moving and those billy elliot dancers were the best child dancers I have ever saw on stage any where. Electric
This is a brilliant performance, that indeed has a bold script certainly captivates the whole auditorium. I recall, some years back sharing a carriage surrounded with a young family boarding at Victoria, were enthralled with programme and other pictures of their experience, having just coming away from an enjoyable afternoon at the Billy Elliott performance, as I sat quietly my part of their journey. Elliott Hanna, in fact all performed outstanding here in this scene, absorbing themselves in another dimension of what is another world of experience in a mining community, no less than that of the whole performance I have seen of television.
I saw the touring production on its opening night in Dublin and it really was the best modern musical of them all. Funny in places ,biting sharp in places. Moving and the billies were the best child dancers I ever saw.
I don't know if I'm going crazy, but I swear when I saw the show live (years ago back in 2015) the choreography was similar, but also very different. I've been feeling that way with each number of this recording, actually.
It would be perfect if the original creators made a film version of the musical, all shot on location as was the 2001 film; Easington, Seaham Harbour etc.
the movie was literally directed and written by the same peoppe who made the movie since they thought the plot would work as a musical and it's one of the most celebrated musicals of all time
In some aspects the musical is even better than the movie and I'm a great fan of the movie. I respect opinions and tastes but that's my opinion and many other's opinion.
@romanyzta26 I think both are really great but the musical aspect of the musical format really allowed for a plot driven by dance to be taken to the next level and for Billy's emotional plot line to be more artfully and insightfully explored
As 2 seperate creations in completely different forms (live stage and filmed on location over months) by the same people, there is no need for them to compete or be seen as better or worse. I like the film (Easington is not far from here) and know the locations well but the 2014 flm of the musical is incredible.
Elliott Hanna was the best Billy Elliot.
Agreed
❤
God, I love this musical so much and this is such a banger number!
for real!
Elliot was a great Billy
Can't imagine the pressure of being the Billy who's forever on film, Elliot hanna handled it really well
This whole number moves me every time. Choreography so inventive and beautiful and the singing bang on!
Elliott Hanna was amazing in this performance...

They do often slightly change choreography every couple year or when a new choreographer is hired. It just switches it up a little bit
Just love watching this Billy Elliott brilliant ❤
