I watch almost all the sailing channels on TH-cam. Yours is becoming my favorite. You guys are interesting, honest and fun. I look forward to your next episode.
Wife would get seasick just thinking of being on the ocean she found taking Bonine a couple of days in advance to get them in your system and allow your body to get accustomed worked. You can't wait until you are sick and expect them to help because if you can't keep them down they are of no use. Good luck
We have been using Meclizine and I think it may be the same active ingredient as bonine? We start taking them the day before and it really does help. Our last sail went off without a hitch, granted, we only saw 1-2 ft waves and then 30 minutes of 6-8 ft waves during a squall, but that will be for a future video 😂
It's always great to see you guys! You did great. You knew when to get help, you managed to re-provisioned and you did what you had to do to make things happen. It was a learning experience and you did what needed to be done. You should all be proud.
Thank you so much for such kind words! It is always though when trying new things, but the sailing community really does look out for each other 🙂 We are very proud of how far we have come in such a short amount of time 🙂 Thanks for watching! ⛵🎉
I enjoy adventures that have a lot of "suck" in them. Stuff like riding a motorcycle on dirt roads across America. You can imagine being hot, cold, stuck, tired, sore, etc. That brings me to the types of fun. Type 1 fun is something like a roller coaster. Throw you hands up, yell "Weeeeee" and it's cool but it's not really character building. If type 1 fun was food it would be sugar. Type 2 fun kind of sucks while you're in it but it's great as you think back about it. That time you ran out of gas in the rain with your friends. You walked in the cold for miles to get a gallon. At the time it was rough but looking back it's a "remember that time" story that you love. This life you've chosen has a lot of type 2 fun. Some of it kind of sucks in the present but looking back you'll be glad you did it.
Exactly! I love Alan Watts who says If you are hot get hotter, if you are cold get colder, because it is the swings that make you feel like you are living. This adventure is so filled with highs and lows, but that is what makes it such a memorable time. Really appreciate you brining some perspective here, thanks for watching! ❤⛵
We will definitely have him read through these comments, He was so amazing through the whole thing, a truly great friend indeed! Thank you for joining us another week! ❤⛵
Try buccal anti emetics for nausea , sea sickness, it’s placed under the tongue and absorbed through the gums, so even if you vomit after it won’t affect its use 👍 Keep on pushing out these videos Medic UK 👏
Will have to check it out! Our sailing medic over at Cutterbove Sailing said the same thing! But I think it actually is not sold over the counter in the states for whatever reason 🙄 Thank you so much for watching! ❤🎉
It took my wife almost 2 full months to get over her bouts of sea sickness. Now, nothing bothers her! Just have to be patient. I promise you, it will get better. We always carry pretzel sticks and Bonine onboard when we have friends and family sail with us. Hope your haul-out an repairs go smoothly so you can continue your journey!
We are sure we will figure out how to overcome it, we are determined! There are so many things that have helped us, we will get there. Thanks for the tips and encouragement! Sure this will just be the first of many haul outs on this adventure, but hopefully none more making this same mistakes! Appreciate you joining us another week
Hello our dear friend! I am glad to hear you are smiling. I am sorry we have not been able to watch your videos as we have been fixing our boat. ⛵ We look forward to watching more of your videos soon. Have a wonderful day! ❤
Oh my goodness how can you be smiling after puking 24hrs? I'll say one thing you 2 are a lot stronger than you may think, No way could I do what you do your determination is amazing. Remember to always take your sea sick meds ahead of time once your sick it's to late. KUDOS to Hunter, your da MAN came n saved the day. As always stay safe and God bless hope everything turns out okay at the marina for you
I think it is easy to smile after because it is finally over 😂 Hunter came in so clutch 🙂 Thank you for spending another week with us ❤ We will find something that works for us for sure ❤
Well I’m impressed, you’ve gained a lot of experience the more you sail the less stress and anxiety it will become the joyful feeling which you both wanted, cheers good luck guys
It can only get better from here, and maybe a little worse at times, and then better once again! We are looking forward to getting through this and gaining our sea legs. The good days far outweigh the bad :) Thank you for watching! ❤⛵
Nice job Hunter... Thanks for helping out Patrick and Michaela, you're a good friend!! Hope Thalia is repaired quickly and back out on the water soon :)
Hunter is a great friend, really keeps Thalia going in more ways than one :) time for a haul out and seeing what life is like in the yard, thank you so much for being here with us ❤️
Hunter GOATed, hope to meet him someday! Crazy how impactful seasickness can be, this was an absolutely INSANE sail, so proud of you guys for sticking with it
Watching since episode one from Australia. We are gonna do this too soon. Loving your videos. And I just wanna say, you look great girl with no makeup! Honestly it’s natural and real and you can pull it off so don’t even worry! It’s inspiring actually but do whatever makes you feel good too! ❤ thanks for sharing the real stuff it’s exciting and terrifying to just do it with no experience but watching you guys were like “let’s do it!” So thankyou
Thank you so much for the kind words and being here with us since day 1! Hopefully we will see you on the water one day! If we can do it from no experience, anyone can learn how 😅😂⛵❤

Attitude really is everything! Even after that sail we were so happy to be doing this, even when it is rough there is always some light on the horizon :) Thanks for being here with us ❤
I’ve sailed with Hunter (not quite like this) and am so glad he was there to help you guys. What a great learning experience for all. He certainly loves a challenge. Loved the video and sorry you were so sick. I laughed about thinking Hunter was dead bc he sleeps so soundly. Looking forward to more of your adventures.
😂😅 hearing some of his stories of challenging sails gave us a lot of confidence that even if things went wrong we would still make it there. And you can tell by the way he was so soundly sleeping that he wasn't worried for a second lol Thank you for checking out our video, it means a lot to us 🙂 🎉❤
Hunter to the rescue!!! I guess we can chalk this up to one of the lowest points so far? I cheers my beer to you guys and getting Thalia back to health in a speedy and hopefully a cheap fix. Heck even grab some extra parts just in case. Till next Sunday, guys! Keep the dream alive... I wonder where you guys will be in a years time. 🤔🤔
Hunter definitely saved the day! I mean it may be a low point but we are in high spirits about it. Will be a nice opportunity to learn more about our boat and how to do repairs :) Nothing in boats is ever cheap, but we saved for things exactly like this. Hopefully next year at this time we will be in the Caribbean! Thanks for always being here with us through the highs and lows Kourt! ❤⛵🎉
Every day we are feeling just that much more familiar with our boat and this lifestyle :) we are certainly learning while doing but we are out here doing it! Thank you for joining us on this adventure and growing with us 🙂❤️⛵️
DO NOT worry about how you appear on camera. Your appeal, speaking personally, is you are not the plastic Instagram crowd. Keep it 'down' and real, great videos thank you.
Thank you so much for the encouragement! We are definitely just some normal people trying to have an extraordinary adventure 🙂 We really appreciate having you with us on this journey, thank you! ⛵🎉
❤ Hunter is the best! Really hard to find friends as good as he is :) And thank you! It was tough but we arrived smiling and that is the part that mattered 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤

It was wild how much we picked up just watching how he operated on Thalia. Shows how valuable it is to share the community knowledge and get out there with others. We really appreciate the kind words Pete, always so glad to see you here with us ❤🎉⛵
Truer words have never been spoken "we made it through it". But what a positive learning experience with Hunter. What a treasure to have. I'm sure the desire and dream of the boat life with supersede the sea sickness. Good luck on the fixing on the hard. Cheers
Exactly! Just another notch in the belt of this adventure :) We honestly picked up on so much just sailing with Hunter the first day, really shows how valuable it is to be out there with the community learning from each other. They say even the best sailors get seasick sometimes, but eventually you find your legs. We have no plans of letting it stop us. Thank you for watching! ❤🎉⛵
Oh bless you both, seasickness is horrible, well done for ‘keeping it real’ and hope it doesn’t put you off, it’s soon forgotten. So, a first tow for you today and a first tow for us too ☹️
We will always try to be as authentic as possible, no time for anything else :) We have heard time and time again that eventually people find their sealegs, and also that even experienced sailors still get seasick once in a while ❤ Everything is happening just the way it should ❤ Thank you so much for spending another week with us!
You guys are very resilient. Also what an amazing friend to help you out like that. I used to practice sailing on and off my mooring and anchor. I got pretty good at it with practice. I can tell you many seasoned sailors would have no clue how to do it. Great job
It is a really good idea to spend some time sailing on and off anchor. Definitely something we are planning on doing when we find a good space for it. Thank you so much for the kind words and support
I'm still not sure if you two are really brave or completely insane but I applaud your courage in continuing. Props to Hunter for being a god, well done. Michaela, fear not, you always look put together ❤
@@patrickandmichaela you've done what my buddy a I have been trying to do for 3 years. But we start from Tampa and due to weather or mechanical issues can't get past the Marathon Key. So this year we moved the Prout through the Okeechobee canal to Melbourne and will try next month for the Bahamas for the 4th time. Congratulations to you!!
Congrats on getting through the mechanical issues! What Prout are you on? Also, are you heading to the Bahamas for hurricane season? I feel like most people are leaving around now.
@@patrickandmichaela It's a 2004 snowgoose elite. Yes - going at the end of the season, next month, just two weeks, as of now hoping for the Berry's, or Abacos. I hope your haul out went well and are pushing to your next voyage.
See if you can get scopolamine patches, they stick behind your ear and helped me with sea sickness. One side effect though is dizziness but sometimes I'd prefer dizziness to the nausea.
The first thing we did when we hit Florida was grab a prescription for them. Will have to see if they help! Thank you for the advice and joining us another week ❤
"Roll out the jib!" Has been playing on repeat in my head. Idk if we will be able to do it without hearing that man 😂😂 Thanks for being with us jb, means the world 🌎❤
Hunter was clearly a godsend for your journey back this week! Well done to him for supporting two seasick sailors! The important thing is that you've made it back to the dock to be able to get hauled out and make important repairs. Are you planning to do a clean and anti-foul as well whilst you're hauled out?
Indeed! Couldn’t have done it without Hunter! Perspective is everything! We made it in one piece without hitting anything, and that is a good sail in my books 🙂 definitely a cleaning and patching the copper coat where needed, but probably another year or two before we redo the whole bottom 🙂 thanks for spending another week with us ❤️ love seeing familiar faces around 🙂❤️
@@patrickandmichaela And let's not forget that every sail is a valuable lesson for you both currently, so even if you couldn't defeat the evil scourge of seasickness on this occasion it doesn't mean that you're forever stuck with it. I've no doubt that you'll figure out your triggers and can put in place measures to prevent it in the future. Great news that you don't need to spend ages with her out of the water. The positive there is it means you can spend longer in the water, learning what makes her tick. Then give her a hoist out in a year or two when you're more maintenance savvy. And happy to be here as always. I love watching you two learn and go through all these experiences. It's great to see you both hold each other up and it shows as you come out the other side the better for it.
You guys are awesome …. Love how you share the good , the bad and the ugly !! Thanks for that’s 👍 Someday when my hubby and I set out , there will be no surprises ?
Thank you so much for the kind words, we just try to show what it can actually be like :) I am not sure there will be no surprises, but hopefully less! Or at least we will give you the confidence that you can get through them
Thank you so much for the kind words, not every adventure will be fun, or even a success, but this one we made it through and somehow were smiling at the end of it :) We appreciate you being here with us
Wow... Hunter hat off to you! But guys, come on, you did something very few do. You are learning quickly and doing awesome! BTW, my wife and I have a survey on a monohull in the BVI on 14th May. Then we start another adventure on a new boat. Hang in there you are doing great!
It is so true! We are out here on a big adventure and that means sometimes things will be bad, and sometimes things will be great. Congrats on finding a boat to survey! That is so exciting! 🎉⛵ Hope things go well and we can see you on the water someday soon! 🎉❤
Adventures are better with friends! Thanks for the kind words, it certainly was tough, but we made it through in one piece! Thanks for being here with us! ❤🎉⛵
So, there is a prescription medication (in the USA) for seasickness. It is called Scopolamine. It is a patch that goes behind the ear and lasts for 3 days. So you don't have to worry about keeping medicine down. Since you are having such a rough go with the seasickness, it may be an option to go to a clinic while you are on the hard and get some prescribed. It may help while you get your sea legs a little more established.
The first thing we did when we arrived back on land was get a prescription for Scopolamine! Hopefully won't need it but definitely will be glad to try it next time we are in the thick of it. Thanks for the advice and spending another week with us! ❤
Exactly! It is important to understand the situation you are in and act accordingly. Thank you for the kind words, we appreciate you joining us on this adventure! ❤⛵
We appreciate the kind words! Hunter honestly was so great throughout the whole thing, an absolutely amazing friend :) Thank you for spending another week with us
Hey my friends. First. Thank you so much for sharing your story. This is a technical note. I am a film maker myself. On your editing. You really don't need to cut out all breaths between cuts. It is disjointed and doesn't feel good as a watcher. Ignore the "you tube professional " and just let the conversions flow in the edit. Like breathing . Give time to breathe in the edits. Other Than that. Just...... keep....... going! I am a fan.
Hey Kyle! We wish it was just breaths 😂 Often filler words, or sentences that are not really needed half thoughts, etc. We are still working on how to better talk to the camera 🙂 Appreciate the comment though, always working on improving! Thanks for watching! ❤🎉
We are feeling good about getting the fix done and back heading north soon enough :) good luck on your boat! This year is definitely the year! Thank you for watching ❤️⛵️
I’m an old salty dog and I’m firm believer that the ocean is not a bikini playground. In the course of human kind no one global feature has killed more humans than the ocean. Not one. At first look at your channel I said to myself uh ohh another young couple out to frolic around the ocean only to be rescued within 6 months by helicopter or worse missing. But I see you two are taking a different approach and are well aware of your own inexperience and limitations. I love that your cautious and willing to make this a learning experience on your timeline not the rushed timeline I see with some others with their narcissistic behavior. If you continue this path I have no doubt that you will make fine experienced sailors and have boring stories to tell instead of the “how we almost killed ourselves” stories other have. Fair winds to you both.
Thank you so much for taking the time comment, we always appreciate people who come at things with a more keen eye for things like safety. We take safety seriously, we know we are new at this, and if we put ourselves in a dangerous spot we are not only putting ourselves in danger, but also anyone who has to come help us. Although we have taken some ambitious sails, we have always checked weather with multiple folks, have a sail plan, check in when we leave and when we arrive, and are always in life jackets whenever on the ocean. We certainly have a lot to learn but have the deepest respect for the ocean and mother nature as a whole. I am sure we will still find ourselves in the thick of things, but hopefully we will be well prepared for them. Thank you for the down to earth conversation here 🙂⛵
Have you ever tried sea bands?...not sure if they work, but I guess anything is worth a try to avoid being sick. Lovin' your videos. My husband and I can't wait to see the next one each and every time. Keep doing what you're doing. ❤ Much love from Nova Scotia, Canada.
We have some and can't find them. We should for sure order some more and give them another try. Appreciate you being with us here every week, it means so much to us! ❤⛵
@@patrickandmichaela I always look forward to you posting your videos. Soon enough it will be me learning all the lessons that you two are living through. I hope to be older and wiser from having lived through it with you.

😊❤😊 Aww thank you so much! Appreciate the offer, but I still think we have a ways to go before we can take on crew 🙂 If you are near the water we looked into a lot of race nights and sailing clubs to get experience with people who know what they are doing! Thank you for joining us another week 🎉❤
Big shout out to Hunter! Thalia will be fixed up and you'll be on the go again in no time 😊 until then, see if you can get some buccal prochlorperazine to help with the seasickness! Or transdermal scopolamine patches 💕
Shout out to Hunter indeed! We will have to try the buccal prochlorperazine. The first thing we did when we landed in Florida was get some scopolamine patches. Will have to see if they help in the moment! Thanks for always being our remote health expert
It was the first thing we did when we landed in Florida! We were able to get a prescription and now have some to try! Hope they can help next time we are in the thick of it! Thanks for the rec and appreciate you being here with us Pete! 🙂❤⛵
Yeah! Its a sailboat. I found that the best way to learn to sail was to have an unreliable engine. If it all went smoothly, you wouldnt have any stories or memories. You're doing great.
Yes! They are both on Instagram! Hunter is truittdontdoit and Bridget is Bridgetthediver! Sorry for the delay, just wanted to make sure they were okay with me sharing before I doxxed them 😂😅
Dont worry about makeup to be on a vid . . . Its not a beauty comp . . Ya dont need it any way . We know what you look like at your worse . . Lol . . 💐💐
No offense , but if you both have trouble with sea sickness. You need to sell your boat and try another adventure. the ocean is rough a more than easy sailing. I have spent thousands of hours on the ocean and never been sea sick. Sea sickness is a measurable feeling and once it sets in, it does not get better. You have obviously purchased this boat to enjoy your life and have the adventures of a life time. but, if you are seasick most of that time.😞
We have talked to so many sailors, some who have been sailing all their lives, and they still get seasick sometimes. Seems very few people don't get it at all, and most say it gets better in time :) No prerequisite of having sea legs before buying a boat, so we will take a seasick day once in a while to cruise 😊⛵
I watch almost all the sailing channels on TH-cam. Yours is becoming my favorite. You guys are interesting, honest and fun. I look forward to your next episode.

Great video, doing it under sail, doing it old school, presently sailing in Brazil, enjoying your adventures.
Can't wait to make it to brazil one day :) Thank you so much for the kind words and joining us another week, means so much to us
Nice job, you made it! It will get better! Kudos to Hunter.
Indeed we did, Hunter made sure of it 😂 thank you for watching ❤️⛵️
Yall crushed it! Before you know it you’ll be the Hunter to someone else. Keep it up :)
That is the dream! Thank you for the kind words
In the the new world sunset
🌎🌅⛵ Thanks for watching! ❤
I'm still not sure if you two are really brave or completely insane but I applaud your courage in continuing. Props to Hunter for being a god, well done. Michaela, fear not, you always look put together ❤
Very fine line between being brave and insane lol Hunter absolutely saved the day, so happy we had him with us
Brilllllliant - thanks for sharing ⛵️ 👍
Thank you for being here with us! 🎉⛵❤
Gr8 job Yall
Thank you!
In discomfort you will grow! Just whatever you do, do not give up!
The cure for pain is in the pain, so that's where you'll find me 😄
I have always wanted to learn how to sail it’s fun watch you guys learn keep up the good work
Thank you so much for being here with us. It is not as hard as it may seem to get started, but definitely something hard to get good at :)
I am watching you since episode 1 with a lot of interest. I am from Israel.
An absolute day 1 fan! Thanks for sticking with us as we are learning through this adventure! ❤🎉⛵
Great job! When you're feeling sick try and think about anything/something else....if that makes sense!
100% Can be a very meditative experience to just focus on breathing and not think about being sick. Thank you for the kind words ❤⛵
"Roll out the jib!" Has been playing on repeat in my head. Idk if we will be able to do it without hearing that man 😂😂 Thanks for being with us jb, means the world 🌎❤
@@patrickandmichaela oh he said roll out the jib? i thought he said roll up a joint! silly me
Hunter was clearly a godsend for your journey back this week!
Way to hang in there.
Thank you :) Not an easy experience but we made it through and are not letting it stop us. Thanks for watching! ❤
It will get better never give up!
It always does, and sometimes worse, but then also better 😂 thanks for watching! ⛵️🎉
🙌 Hunter 🙌🧿⛵️👏
Truly the best! ⛵🎉🍀 Thanks for watching! 🙂
You guys are awesome ….
Love how you share the good , the bad and the ugly !!
Thanks for that’s 👍
Someday when my hubby and I set out , there will be no surprises ?
Thank you so much for the kind words, we just try to show what it can actually be like :) I am not sure there will be no surprises, but hopefully less! Or at least we will give you the confidence that you can get through them
Don’t stress, you look really well put together to me. Well done all of you.
Y’all killed it! Congratulations on adapting and overcoming! And thank goodness for friends. Hunter is the MVP!
Adventures are better with friends! Thanks for the kind words, it certainly was tough, but we made it through in one piece! Thanks for being here with us! ❤🎉⛵
Go hunter!!!!
🎉🎉 Go Hunter Indeed! 🎉🎉 Thanks for watching ❤
@@patrickandmichaela ❤️ I am glad you have heard of it and got some. I hope the repairs go quickly and you are underway again soon! To great ⛵️ahead!
It's too bad you guys are having such a hard time. Hopefully soon you'll be able to enjoy this lifestyle and all the adventures.
Ah even through the struggles we are still enjoying it 🙂 certainly an adventure! Thanks for being here with us ❤️😊
Nice video, I appreciate the plan for the worst and hope for the best , being prepared is the key. Well done.❤
Exactly! It is important to understand the situation you are in and act accordingly. Thank you for the kind words, we appreciate you joining us on this adventure! ❤⛵
Yeah great channel. Good stuff guys!
❤ Thank you so much for being with us another week! 🎉⛵
We just watched this episode and we’re very impressed with how well you both with the help of your friend did. Well done 👏👏
We appreciate the kind words! Hunter honestly was so great throughout the whole thing, an absolutely amazing friend :) Thank you for spending another week with us
@@patrickandmichaela thank you! The pups are doing great 🐶🐶
Hey my friends.
Y’all are doing an amazing job!
Thank you so much for the kind words! We are trying our best 😊❤⛵
I used to work on a boat and get really seasick. I learned that eating carrot sticks was the best for me. Hope it gets better.
Will have to give that a try! Thanks so much for being with us another week, we really appreciate it
Hopefully things turn around soon. I haven't had. My boat in the water in 2 yrs now. So I'm hoping this will be the yr for me
We are feeling good about getting the fix done and back heading north soon enough :) good luck on your boat!
Thanks Hunter.
Thanks Hunter indeed! We appreciate you joining us here another week on another misadventure Mark! ⛵🎉
@@patrickandmichaela I always look forward to you posting your videos. Soon enough it will be me learning all the lessons that you two are living through. I hope to be older and wiser from having lived through it with you.
Hopefully we can save you from having to make some of the silly mistakes we make :)
Girl you are one of those chicks that look beautiful naturally.. probably better naturally! Friends help you feel confident and not alone! Again if you want newbie older crew please we can be the mom dad help that you could teach and make you feel you guys got this shit!
I wish we had a friend to come help us sail to Grenada.
I am sure there are crew out there that could help! Have you checked any of the facebook groups?
Big shout out to Hunter! Thalia will be fixed up and you'll be on the go again in no time 😊 until then, see if you can get some buccal prochlorperazine to help with the seasickness! Or transdermal scopolamine patches 💕
Shout out to Hunter indeed! We will have to try the buccal prochlorperazine. The first thing we did when we landed in Florida was get some scopolamine patches. Will have to see if they help in the moment! Thanks for always being our remote health expert
Please try the seasick patches they work really well. Aussie Pete
Exactly! An adventure has to have ups and downs otherwise it wouldn't be an adventure! Thank you for joining us on this journey

Hello! 👋👋🌊⛵🎉🙂
Hunter looks like your brother 🤓
😂 maybe just the long hair and beards 😂
Do hunter and Bridget have any socials to follow?
Yes! They are both on Instagram! Hunter is truittdontdoit and Bridget is Bridgetthediver! Sorry for the delay, just wanted to make sure they were okay with me sharing before I doxxed them 😂😅
Damn I don’t use Instagram. Maybe in the future I will though
❤
Dont worry about makeup to be on a vid . . . Its not a beauty comp . . Ya dont need it any way . We know what you look like at your worse . . Lol . . 💐💐
😂 Thank you, it is true we often show us at our worst. Hard to look good while being sick :) Thank you for watching! ❤🎉
