    Hi captain Pedro
I just bought a used garmin reactor 40 SBW for Volvo penta with joystick/stern drives
    .
After install I can’t get threw the first step in the dockside wizard.
Every time I try and hit the button on my GHC 20 left or right to steer the outdrives I get a message on my ghc 20-“autopilot controller lost” .
If I turn my steering wheel manually left or right on the same setup page I see the little diamond icon move as I’m turning the wheel.
Also in my EVC D system/display in settings under “installed steering component” it now shows up that autopilot is there.
The instruction diagram doesn’t show anything about connecting the Volvo penta autopilot gateway so I didn’t install that.
    Is there something I’m missing?
Should I just skip dockside and go to sea trail?
I hope you can help I’m totally stumped.
    Thanks

Unfortunately I don’t know anything about it with an inboard. If you are located here in Miami, you can try to reach out to Langer Krell. They are the leaders in marine electronics for sales and service and they can have a tech go out to meet you.
My set up is with outboards.

Man , you make it look so simple. I have tried several times and can’t get mine set. My vessel on my gps pops up sideways. Any suggestions ??? I have a Pursuit 2870cc with twin Suzuki’s 300’s.

If the boat icon is sideways, that means the heading sensor is not reading your actual heading correctly.
I have a video where I show you the steps to check your magnetic interference on your heading sensor. It could be that you will need to relocate it or that the heading sensor might be bad.

Hi, when the Garmin auto pilot on my boat, when it sepose to do the zig zag test , it just go in circle. I tried many times it still does the same thing. Please help, thanks

Ok so we had the same issue with ours and we spend months with techs trying to figure out the issue and they couldn’t figure it out. We replaced the pump and it still did the same thing and after spending hours with Garmin on the phone I was able to get a tech that knew what the issue was.
This is caused by a bad heading sensor. They showed me a way to check the magnetic interference with my sensor and it’s super easy for you to check it.
You might have too much interference where the heading sensor is mounted. This was the issue we had and it slowly was degrading the heading sensor. We were lucky that with just relocating it to another location in the console and recalibrating it, we didn’t have to replace it.
If the heading sensor is too far gone, you might have to replace it but I would recommend to check the magnetic interference first. You might be able to save a bunch of money just be relocating it.
If you look at the Garmin playlist on our page, we have a video that shows you exactly how to check this on your unit. If your score is low, try relocating the heading sensor in the console as far away from batteries and metal objects. Then check the magnetic interference again to see if your score improved. If the score improved, take the boat out and recalibrate it following the steps on this video.
You want the percentage to be as close to 100% as possible. Keep in mind that you will never get to 100% though because it will always have interference due to the metal objects on the boat and within the console.
Hopefully this simple fix will correct your issues. That simple fix corrected everything for us. Hope this helps!

Great video, but do you know why my Reactor 40 + GHC 20 loses calibration after a while and asks me to do all the autopilot calibration again?

      @pescatarianfishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Sorry for the delayed response. I was out of the country on a fishing trip.
I was having that issue with my auto pilot where it would lose calibration. Not sure if the issue will be the same as yours but I ultimately had to relocate my heading sensor. I had my sensor in an area where it was getting too much magnetic interference. After I relocated it in my console, the unit worked perfectly.
We have a video in our Garmin playlist that walks you through how to check the magnetic interference via a diagnostic check on your unit.
Hopefully that is your issue and not that the heading sensor is bad.

To add a little more clarity, the magnetic interference is caused by metal items and batteries. This causes your heading sensor to have a change in direction. On my boat, over the corse of 4 years, that interference was just enough to make my screens go crazy and then when I calibrated it, it worked fine for a day then it would go back.
