Hi Maria, usually the head circumference for men is about 22 to 23 inches. If you are using an acrylic yarn with a bit of stretch, then you can use the same pattern for men also. Initially it might be a bit tight but it will ease up after the first use. Now if you are making for XL size that is above 23 inches, then add an extra increase round. Make round 11 as [inc, 1dc in next 33 stitches, inc, 1dc in next 33 sts]. The total will be 70 sts. Then from round 11 to 18 make 1 dc in every st with 70 sts as the st count.
