Thank you for this tutorial! I am a beginner and was able to do this hat with no problems. Everything about this tutorial is spot on - clear explanations, lighting, camara angle, close-ups, and pacing. I'm starting on my second slouchy immediately.😊😊
Omgoodness. This is the BEST and EASIEST tutorial on a slouchy beanie. I can't thank you enough. The others were just so complicated. Great colors, lighting, voice and speed. I'm going to start NOW. Thanks Jennifer ❤️
I have found doing a foundation double crochet 56 times worked just as well as the Ch 56/DC on top. With the Foundation DOuble crochet it makes it extra stretchy too!
Using a 6.5 mm hook and size 4 yarn I needed 66 stitches for about 23 in circumference. I also recommend doing a row of single crochet after the initial chain. I found it made the brim sit flatter and look better (IMHO). Love this pattern though.
This is perfect!!! I found some brand new wool yarn that is cream at Goodwill of all places and scooped it up for .99 and I made this is an afternoon. This is going to keep me so warm on my walks with my pup. Thanks for your time
I just made this! It is much shorter because I used the yarn I had left over from creating the Island Lace Scarf (I made it into an infinity scarf using the pattern). I absolutely love it!! It is so cute even at a shorter length!! Now I have a matching scarf and hat using two of your fabulous patterns!! Thank you so much for these tutorials!!
64 stickers is perfect for 23 inch noggin lol I did 70 and I was sliding off my head. 23 is just perfect with a little stretch. Took my 3 attempts to get my size right. I also added 5 rows for the head band since I have a larger forehead. I like thicker bands. It does gain stitches when you start doing the the V stitched but since you go into the v stiches to make a mesh look it doesn’t matter.
I'm making this to go with an infinity scarf that is also V stitches to wear with my winter coat. It's so nice to have the video to refer to. My inherited yarn isn't marked and is a finer gauge so took 76 chains to get to 20 inches for my small head. The pattern is so easily adjustable.
Mine ended up way too stretchy at 70 stiches kept falling off I had to factor in stretch so it stays on and I did 64 stiches for 23 inches. Is yours loose?
I just finished making one of these for my partner and he absolutely loves it! Super easy pattern and the first slouchy beanie I’ve made that’s had just the perfect amount of slouch to it. Fantastic pattern!
Yarn Weight 4, 246 yards, crochet hook size J or one size larger than recommended on the yarn label so you get a nice drape. Pattern worked on an even number of stitches.
Love this slouchy beanie, but want to know if you do something just like this, but for males. Perhaps this is a bit too lacy for a boy/man. Alternatively could I change the 'V' to some other stitch that won't change the size etc. Thank you
The 56 chain is a bit too small n I have a small head lol 23"inch/59 cm around.... so I'd make it like an even 60 chain if ur head is the same size as mine also factor in hair volume as well too, but you can also steam the hat with a small steamer to also get the right fit...I hope this comment helps y'all 😊 have a wonderful safe day. Also to make it slouchy enough do at least 26 rounds like she did I had to count them myself because she didn't say but yeah no less than 15 depending on head size if ur head is small then 15 rounds to maybe 17 would be good for you. Good luck yall and also thank you for this video it's awesome I'm going to make a lot of these lol
Try using a smaller-size crochet hook, or try starting with a shorter starting chain. Everyone crochets differently, so what works for me might not work for you. You might even need a different yarn, but just don't give up!!
Hello, thank you for sharing your video. My question is, if you're using a super fine very thin yarn, is the pattern the same Or would adjustments have to be made? (Using a 1.5/2.25 size crcht hook)
I would go to her original pattern mentioned in the video as she used chunky yarn for it. Probably used different hook size and chains for the chunky yarn.
I'm not quite sure what happened, but using the same sized hook and yarn has resulted in a weirdly huge beanie. The tutorial is super easy to follow, but the end result looks nothing like yours unfortunately. The slouch is VERY slouchy in mine. It goes below my shoulders and looks ridiculous to me even though it measures at 13.5 inches tall. It was feeling a little long as I was making it, but the picture looked like just what I was going for in a beanie so I trusted the process. Oh well, not every project works out. But thanks for creating this tutorial and pattern!
Hi I did the chain of 56 but it’s to small it doesn’t mesure the 22 circumference do I know I have to make my chain bigger but do I have to make sure it ends on even number please help me my chain only go to 18 inches
I made sure my chain row was straight and not twisted , but after completed the first row, the chain was backwards and the circle had one twist , can anyone lmk what I did wrong? How do I avoid the fresh yarn coming through the circle?? I did everything as the video???
I just chained an even stitch. To my size. Used a measuring tape to measured my head. So for 23 inch es I used 70 stiches Her sizing is for a small wayyy small lol
I also have a small head and found that 56 chains with 6mm was the perfect fit for me. I'm making one for my mom's friend now and chained 60. So it's just really trying it on yourself before moving on to round 3. Hope this helps
I don't understand how all rows after and including row 5 have straight sides firming a tube, when essentially a v stitch increases the number of stitches. It would have been helpful if u gave a stitch count at the end of row 5 to help keep us on track 😔

Gonna make mine in raspberry while listening to Prince! ❤️
If it was warm, she wouldn't wear much more.
😂😂😂😂😢
@@lola2uNice one!
Oh brother 😂
This is not a beret...Prince would Not approve 😂.

This is the easiest pattern I found to be able to follow! Your narration is wonderful; not too fast, not too slow, clear and articulate. Thank you!
I love instructor's who teach at a comfortable pace. Not too fast, not too slow. She is perfect.🧶🍰

Ty because that was the exact hook and size yarn I wanted to use ❤
@@AuraCrowell You're welcome :). I wish you well on your hat!

Thank you for the clear instructions. Love this slouchy beanie❤❤
I've made three slouchy's this fall/winter and this is the first slouchy I've made that actually looks like the photo says!
Thanks for this tutorial, I'd never successfully crocheted a hat before and it turned out great :)

I found that using the medium weight 4 yarn with a 6mm hook that 74 chains for the base equalled 23 inches circumference
Mine ended up way too stretchy at 70 stiches kept falling off I had to factor in stretch so it stays on and I did 64 stiches for 23 inches.
Is yours loose?
Thank you, for taking your time I was able to keep up, and I will post as soon as I'm finished today
It's very cool and modern. Thanks Jennifer 💚

My favorite style beanie ❤
Thank you!!!
Love thid easy pattern! The way you explain everything is great too! Thank you!
I achieved a really nice result. It's a great base. I'm currently making a pea 🫛 hat.
Thank you Jen.
Love this slouchy! Thank you for posting. Great, easy to follow. :)
Thank you so easy. You did a great job for the instructions. God bless!
Will be making this lovely simple patteran in a bright colour to match my winter coat
I love this hat so much that I made one for a friend and he loves it too
great explanation. Thanks for sharing 😃

I need a hat like this in my life!!!!!
Very nice Jennifer! Love the design. Thanks for sharing!💞
Oh my goodness. I ❤ this pattern and your instructions.
This might be my new favorite slouch hat
Loved watching...learned a few new things and cant wait to make! Just in time for winter!
Very easy pattern. Love the color.😊
Cool beanie. Pretty color
Just in time, I'm excited to start making this. Thank you for sharing. 😊 Have a great weekend 😀

That is a beautiful slouchy hat
Oh it's gorgeous 😍
Beautiful thanks for this tutorial ❤️
Very easy to follow thanks for video tutorial
It looks so easy...many thanks...will definitely try it❤
This was a great tutorial! I will be making one of these…maybe more!
Love this slouchy beanie, but want to know if you do something just like this, but for males. Perhaps this is a bit too lacy for a boy/man.

Very good instructions!
Thank you sooo much ❤
How am I supposed to get any work done with all these fantastic videos??? LOL😍
Just made it. Thanks for the so easy pattern
Awesome ❤👌👍
Beautiful hat thank you ❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for sharing 😊
Beautiful, just love it
How are you coming up with 22 in circumference from chaining 56?
Hi Jennifer. This looks easy and fun. Thanks you. Deszie (Deszies Crochet Cubby)
Thank you so so cute❤❤
Very pretty hat.
I am waiting for this! ❤❤❤thank you ❤❤❤
Came out great
Thank so much 🤗💕👍🏾
love it!!! thank you!!
Cute hat! Love this yarn, I use it a lot😊
Love it❣️👍👍
This is lovely! I am wondering if the foundation chain could be worked in the back loops or would that change the effect?
I like how u explain and point. Be following u
I managed to follow this pattern, great tutorial, but changed to a 5m hook as it was getting too wide.
Did it stretch? I did 62 lol for 23 inches
Switched to 64 my head is big lol
Mine is too small for my head. I definitely need to start with a longer beginning chain
Just wondering if i can just add more stitched to make the brim bigger or does it have to be in multiples of something?
This is what I need to know as well. 56 just isn’t cutting it for my noggin 😂
Anybody else’s hat coming out wide af, and not like a narrow tube?? I tried 4x with different kinds of yarn. Like….I am so confused.
I am having the same problem. I'm starting over for the third time! Did you ever figure out why this is happening?
@@lisapresley7279 never figured it out. Makes nooo sense. Just keeps coming out ginormous. I gave up.
Yes!! I ripped it out 3 times and finally ended up weaving in some round elastic on the band. Could be cute but too many increases.
You ssy this is so easy. NOT! I AM A BEGINNER.
Try using a smaller-size crochet hook, or try starting with a shorter starting chain. Everyone crochets differently, so what works for me might not work for you. You might even need a different yarn, but just don't give up!!
So the building chain3 doesn’t create a v at the end correct? It just acts as the seam?
Could you start this out with foundation double crochet? Instead of the chain @fiberflux
Lovely simple patteran will be making this for winter kn a lovely bright olour to match my win
Hello, thank you for sharing your video. My question is, if you're using a super fine very thin yarn, is the pattern the same Or would adjustments have to be made? (Using a 1.5/2.25 size crcht hook)
Ive chained 56 and it doesnt even look like it would fit a babies head, what am i doing wrong? Ive used size 6 hook and chunky wool
I'm having the same issue. I've even gone loose on the stitches and it's still pretty small.
I would go to her original pattern mentioned in the video as she used chunky yarn for it. Probably used different hook size and chains for the chunky yarn.
I’ve tried following two other You Tubers videos to no avail. PLEASE PRAY FOR ME!!! 😆😆😆😆
I want to make this for my 5 year old granddaughter. How many chains should i start off with? My first beanie is turning out beautifully! Almost done!
Measure your daughter’s head along her hairline and then start a chain that’s about same length then continue the pattern from there.
I don't know what I am doing wrong but when I join rows after doing my FPDC it is messy looking. Do you have any advice for me? I love your tutorials.
My beanie is getting wider with every row. It isn't straight like the one in the video. Can someone please tell me what Im doing wrong?
What level of crocheter is this for? I'm a bit rusty and when I did crochet all I did was make granny square blankets.
This definitely a beginner friendly project! In the video I walk you through the whole thing stitch by stitch so it’s nice and easy! 😊
thank you so much @@fiberflux
Is a 3 weight yarn too small for this hat?? TYIA!!😊
Im asking as a beginner,, then when shall we measure around our head?? the chain at beginning is for what size?
How many stitches would i start with for a toddler, 18.5 head circumference?
I'm not quite sure what happened, but using the same sized hook and yarn has resulted in a weirdly huge beanie. Will 6.5 size needle work for this
How can I make rhe hat bigger? By how many chains should I increase?
I just chained an even stitch. To my size. Used a measuring tape to measured my head. So for 23 inch es I used 70 stiches
Her sizing is for a small wayyy small lol
Can this be done with 24/7 cotton?
Isn’t this the same as the Estelle?
My brim ended up to tight. The body did not make a tube. Kept flaring out
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I seem to have far too many stitches after the first row of v's and no idea why😮😢
What is causing the bottom to curl up?
I have a small head so can i use a 5 mm hook h hook?
I also have a small head and found that 56 chains with 6mm was the perfect fit for me. I'm making one for my mom's friend now and chained 60. So it's just really trying it on yourself before moving on to round 3. Hope this helps
why does mine look all wavy like a flower? beginner here
Mine does not look like a tube?
Hi what size is this for
How do I adjust this for a Q hook?? 😂
Did she say "meoou"in the beginning of the video
Is this video easy for beginners?
So u did 26 rounds??
Does anybody know how to increase size?
Got it, thanks!!!
I don't understand how all rows after and including row 5 have straight sides firming a tube, when essentially a v stitch increases the number of stitches. It would have been helpful if u gave a stitch count at the end of row 5 to help keep us on track 😔
