    This one's been a long time coming. Over a year ago now Racewerk reached out and asked if we'd be keen to review their new S1 Pro Hydraulic Sim Racing Pedals. In the time since they've been tweaking and perfecting the design and we finally have a set here in the Boosted Media Studio. SO time to see how they perform!

    UPDATE: Unfortunately since making this video a second pedal has ceased up. Racewerk contacted me before this occurred and let me know they had found another issue with the design and that it would probably happen.
    The replacement pedal they sent me which I talked about in the video also started leaking fluid from the front of the salve cylinder.
    I will do an updated video once the issues are fully resolved.

    Awesome setup!
    I have Fanatec CSL Elites (loadcell brake) in a 2 pedal setup myself (I swapped the clutch for the throttle pedal as this has a slightly higher resistance which I prefer). I really like them but was thinking about one day upgrading to maybe HE Sprints. There seems to be some debate around whether a hydraulic brake is genuinely superior when used in a sim scenario.
    I'd be interested to hear a more detailed comparison with the HE Ultimates, as these are around the same price point. I'd only be interested in a 2 pedal setup myself (I just don't find sim clutches or H shifters that realistic and they kind of detract from the immersion for me personally - I just use an HE sequential and no clutch for all manual cars)
    It would also be worth comparing the HPP JVB's and the Pro-Sim Evo Pedals (although these are a lot more expensive) I've seen the Pro-Sim Evo's mounted to a few racing drivers rigs. One thing they say on their website is that they use a gas spring (with 3 different levels of force) on their throttle pedal. Do you know what kind of spring the Racewerk throttle is using? Could be an area for them to improve on? I always feel the poor old throttle pedal never gets the attention it deserves with these high end sim pedals!

    I'm really torn between these pedals and the Simtrecs Propedal GT... Load cell with hydraulic damper vs full hydraulic and pressure sensor. Which would be more realistic to my 991 track car? I've found that my current pedals (load cell) are too spongy and last time I went and did a track day, I was not making full utilization of the brakes, and I'm thinking it could have been due to this learned muscle memory from the sim...

    What’s the advantage in having a hydraulic system that pulls the rubber elastomers over having the pedal compress them directly? Like the fanatec CSL design for example. (Not comparing quality of construction I’m just curious about the design advantage)

    • @boostedmedia
      @boostedmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s discussed in this review, and more extensively in our recent Asetek Forte review where we compared more directly. Basically there’s not a massive difference but it adds a bit more of an authentic feel in most cases.

    • @tilus75
      @tilus75 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As a designer, i keep looking for that bite point in terms of feel in real cars including competition cars.
      It is simply not there. What you feel is motion. Will using a linear pedal and having motion will feel very very comfortable with this, because it is actually how it feels in a real car.

    • @-racingfan2014
      @-racingfan2014 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tilus75 i dont see why ffb and vibration would not be possible to simulate clutch bitepoint when moving the clutch pedal axis. Depending on where you travel on the axis give it more resistance and after bitepoint and up no resistance and when moving up too fast have a vibration or feel a vibration when going slow up from bitepoint without giving enough throttle input or provide ffb shaking the axis.

    All looks well but any light oil would work for this set up with out using such a harsh fluid like brake fluid, the fluid will never see the temperatures fluid in a normal car sees, there would be no viscosity change, and condensation forming in the fluid and then being boiled off would never happen, a nice 0 weight synthetic oil would be a far better choice
