- Early June 2024 took a reluctant trip up to the St. Lucie river. Crabbing has been not good in this area for about six months so it was really not expecting much but I wanted to try out a little bit different spot than I normally go to.
Wow! Did it pay off!!! Great trip, awesome catch, nice sized crabs and lots of them. I hope you enjoy the video. This was on a two day soak with men. Hayden used his bait on the St. Lucie river Northfork.

Nice haul!!!!
Thanks Ian!
BRO YOU NAILED IT!!!!!!
Thanks dude!
Nice catch. I’m in Maryland. Are you guys able to use trotlines in Florida?
Yup but i dont see many people doing it
Agreed, trotline is just not as effective down here. The crabs tend to jump, I think it’s the heat. They feel the temperature rising and let go. There is a guy that was trying it out a few months ago, he seemed to get discouraged after only catching a few crabs each time he went out. Otherwise, I have never crossed paths with someone actually doing it. I’d like to give it a try on the kayak one day though
@@How_I_Caught_Crabs I am in Maryland and love running one. It feels more like hunting to me because you have a chance of missing the crab. Pots you just set and leave. Sure it's great to crabs but no where near as fun.
That was awesome, great video
Thanks for checking out the video!
Damn Brad…nice run! I bet your heart got pumping with that first pot. Been a while since you filled a bucket. Looks like lower salinity was the ticket. Curious to see how you do the next trip. Good luck!
Hello,
That’s a nice haul of blue crabs!
Do you build your own traps?
I am trying to decide if I want to go with hex mesh or square mesh traps for recreational crabbing.
Thanks for checking out the video! Yes I do make my own. I like the square mesh because they last longer and are more rigid but the hex mesh tend to catch better. Hit me up if you need some jimmiesandsooks @gmail
Nice haul
Thanks Jerry!!
Sup Jimmy, wow ,nice catch buddy
What’s up James! Seen you got close to a bushel the other day. Great job! Thanks for watching
