- Season 8 of Bachelor in Paradise was the longest one ever. 16 episodes to give us a fully fleshed out season with drama and romance. But did it deliver? Not quite. Here's my problem with Bachelor in Paradise season 8 in this latest season review.

I think the most disappointing part is that they skipped over so many people in the reunion. Even Andrew got nothing

Omgggg yes!!! There was a lot of drama they didn’t talk about!
Well I think because the producers want to save money and they don't want Brandon, Victoria, Serena, and Johnny to have an hour show for them to get up in the morning, dating, picking out rings, dressing in nice clothes and propose. Fear that white audience will not want to watch that. So the producers just squeeze everything with the Tell All show.... And the Host probably avoided asking Andrew some questions, because he's a dark skin black man. Afraid that he might offend Andrew, causing him to lose his job....
this season they focused on ALL of the wrong couples. and even when they gave us tiny glimpses of the healthy couples they’re clips were cut short :(
Unfortunately, it hasn't really been about love for a while. Yes, occasionally there is a wonderful love story, but it's the drama that people are tuning in for. I've been watching since the very beginning of the whole franchise. They definitely focus more on the drama.
@@jenniferhansen3622 This - plus everything Fantake said - is why I haven’t watched any Bachelor franchise show in more than a year. BIP 5 was great: we got to know people somewhat, we watched their relationships develop…. Now it’s all just manufactured drama after random rules change after whatever other bizarre elements they think of to pour gasoline on the dumpster fire.
I’ll keep tuning in for @Bachelor Fantake recaps, though. They never disappoint ❤❤
The contestants wore boring the dream comes from them its not from the host
also rose ceremonies held almost no weight this season because of the amount of people that left before the rose ceremony actually happened
I personally found the hosts for last season’s bachelor in paradise to be WAY more entertaining than Jesse. I understand that it’s cheaper to have one person on salary that hosts all your shows, but bringing on actually funny hosts like David Spade that don’t take the show that seriously really helped BIP lean into being a funny, self aware trashy drama. Jesse made BIP feel much more like the typical over-dramatic bachelor and bachelorette shows, with more drama and less fun
I'd love for David Spade to come be co-host/co-bartender (I will not tolerate BiP without Wells)/ commentator next season.
I LOVE Jesse but last year's hosts were AMAZING and such a wonderful addition to the show!

Jesse is the best. My wife loves Jesse! Plus he’s Canadian 🇨🇦! I get your point that he was too stiff this year - I agree with that. He can lighten up next summer to make it a little more fun! (Loosen-up Jesse).
My wife and I feel that last year’s random hosts was a sh$t-show! It reeked of desperation! We want a consistent host. You just have to get used to him.
Just had to put in my two cents if producers are reading this. I definitely request not to bring back David Spade. Too annoying.
When i saw Sally at AFTR I was excited to have them ask her some things since her part was so edited i wanted to hear her thoughts. But literally they just introduced her and then forgot she existed.

She was cast late as a fake blasphemous character with no chance from the start. Diabolical production team have zero care for contestants. Bizarro.
It really does feel like all three shows within the franchise are just getting worse over time. It’s hard for any franchise to last two decades, to be fair, but I think the writing is on the wall at this point.
I think it’s gotten a lot worse since contestants have realized the show’s potential to blow you up on socials and many just go on the show for that boost. I started seeing it around Colton’s season, but I think it became a major issue since Peter’s season. It’s apparent more than half of the contestants are there for a blue check mark. I really don’t know how the bachelor franchise can fix this though. I guess maybe the producers could try to play more into the romance and less drama. But, from what I’ve seen, I think they think that the drama will bring in more views. But it all seems super inauthentic.
As much as Brandon and Serene were the final pick we barely got to see any screen time from them and learning about them as individuals and as a couple. I think I’m terms of editing the could’ve gave them more screen time since the were the final couple to make it to the end but they were the couple we saw the least

We don’t need so much recapping! We have TH-cam for that, plus a lot of us watch it through Hulu right? I just think it’s unnecessary when they cut out all the potential material they could have aired on the reunion special. I basically agree with everything fantake says.
LITERALLY OMG in the finale and the episode before the finale they did two season recaps that were pretty detailed and it literally was so unnecessary because if I wanted a million recaps I wouldn't be watching for the past 2 months lmao.
It really feels like production has started getting more and more in the way the last few seasons. I think it started sometime around Peters season, the franchise had just experienced some big moments with Colten’s fence jump and Hannah’s podium moving and I feel like the producers felt the need to capture that energy again. The whole drama surrounding Peters final 3, including a rekindling of him and Madi that felt completely production controlled really irked me. Since then we’ve seen more forced drama than ever before, more “adult content” (stripping nude on Claire’s season, multiple vibrator jokes), more defamation of contestants, and really awkward forced interactions (Kendall crashing Joe’s proposal, Logan being allowed to jump between leads, Lace being allowed to show up at the end of Rodney’s date, etc). All that needs to stop for the show to feel natural again. The best thing the producers could do is trust their casting to find interesting characters and just let them experience the bachelor.
There is a very good reason for that: Elan Gale. He was the Executive Producer until 2019, his last bachelor was Colton. He left the show to do other things (including FBoy Island which you HAVE to watch if you haven’t) and since then the producers have run wild. From what I’ve read there is a lot of issues within the structure of the company, and it’s led to a lot of competition between producers to make the biggest splash.

Several changes that need to be made to the show immediately…1. Enough with reminding the audience at the beginning of every episode who’s coupled up, WE HAVEN’T forgotten. 2. When someone is eliminated, they STAY eliminated. and 3. Keep Aaron the f*ck off our screens! He generates nothing but go away heat and he’s death TV every time. I would fight that guy just because lol

Thanks for the informative review. I was wondering why AFR seemed to ignore the Andrew / Teddi relationship and set up Wells on stage to only make one comment about Romeo's face. I think your criticisms of the season were spot on. I will never understand why I had to sit through so much of Ashley & Jared joking about flatulence, urination, and premature ejaculation. I also had no interest in Salley's alleged suitcase. Being cringe-worthy is not necessarily entertaining.
Thank you Bachelor Fantake. Because of you, I never have to watch the show and just see you're humorous updates. Who has 4 hours a week to devote to this with commercials hitting every 10 minutes. I swear the 2 hours is like 45 minutes of show and 115 mins of commercials. Even when I had DVR it was difficult.
No more Ashley and Jared, (she stalked him until he gave in, ok! Not a love story). No more Aaron, (or James), no more Michael A, no more Sally's suitcase! Bring back Rodney, The Twins (they surprised me) and Johnny next year!!
Johnny needs to work on himself first and his self esteem. He said he hates even looking himself on the mirror so how does he expect someone else to come and love him yet he doesn't love himself at all???
It's a sad day when Fantake doesn't even enjoy Paradise 😭

I could not believe Victoria’s actions. Not only did she cheat on Johnny; she rubbed it in his face on national TV with her new boyfriend…. And had no remorse! Poor Greg. He’s next.

I wonder if they cut Andrew because they knew that despite their spin on it, it still reflects badly on them that Teddi won’t even respond to their calls.
I hate that I’m addicted to the Bachelor shows. The bachelor and bachelorette use to be so good when they had contestants that were there for love and a long term commitment, not fame. So sick of all the drama the producers focus on, they really have ruined the show.
I'm addicted too. Have you been here since the beginning? I've seen every episode of every one of these shows since the very first one. I feel like I can't turn away now. But it's very different than it used to be. There was always some drama, but not the way it is now.

Omg with the amount I’ve heard about BTS the music group, they’re the only thing I think of when I see those letters! You mean ‘by the sounds’ (of it) right? Because yeah it seems like they were extremely hard on them probably so they’d end up fighting with each other. Except for the Mike & Brandon. I’d be shocked if Michael even slept on a crappy bunk like the rest of the guys.

I agree 100000%. too produced, too staged, too many people closed off in making connections "hoping" their person comes in, too much focus on the drama and not enough in character development. It was bleh

I have never been disappointed by a season of BIP until now. And you know what's weird? All season long, I felt that dragging you talked about. But I interpreted it as there being FEWER episodes than past seasons. When you said there were 17 or 18 or whatever it was, my jaw dropped! I would have SWORN they filmed this season in like, HALF the time as past years. It felt like this year we had three or four rose ceremonies, and in the past it's felt like 10. I don't understand. And yet even while feeling like they had rushed the FILMING, they were editing the episodes so that they just absolutely dragged on and on. Bizarre. And split week sucked. These folks are bonkers enough as it is, they don't need help being dramatic. No one wants to watch Jill cry with her crystals in a hotel room, because we probably would have seen her cry with her crystals on the beach ANYWAY!

Something else i really hated about this season was the separation when the girls went to the hotel, it all felt so unnecessary and ended up being depressing to watch! These couples are like 1-2 weeks in, let them explore and develop their feelings for each other instead of testing their “loyalty” for shock factor!! It felt like I was watching a different show
Yes, that and other bad moves by the producers, makes me feel like they are at the very least extremely immature, and at the most cynical and sadistic. People keep saying that this kind of stuff is done for ratings but I don’t think there are any of us out here who like seeing this. Who is thinking, I can’t wait to tune in to see how horrible of a train wreck this will be, and how much pain I’m gonna have to go through tonight. 😢
My toxic trait is I skip through the happy couples to get to the mess. I’m part of the problem 💀

I agree with the points made in this video. On a semi-unrelated note. I feel like when it comes to picking leads for Bachelor and Bachelorette, they always play it safe. A prime example of this is them picking Zach for the upcoming season (Not joking I just had to look up his name just now to write that). They always have so many options, but routinely pick the most boring person possible.
I feel like it's because they always pick the people that they know they can influence the most or who will play into a narrative the producers already decided on. Which usually aren't the people the audience falls in love with on the seasons to begin w :/
I thought Gabby, Tayshia and Jojo are fun. But they do pick some clunkers
And what sucks is that he might have an awesome personality but you only discover the people’s true selves (for the most part) on social media and interviews sometimes when the shows airing but mostly after.

Felt like production had obvious favorites (aka “Golden Boy” Michael) and people just to dump on (aka Jill) and those camps just got played through the whole time. I ranted multiple times out load to my screen over it.

Let's not forget they also did Casa Amor in the literal most toxic way ever which destroyed the concept on the girl's side of things. The beach ended up so toxic because of production that they clung to relationships that should have ended

Tbh Even Brandon and Serene didn't get a lot of screentime. The only reason we rooted for them was cause we loved Brandon in Michelle's season, and the short times we did see them they seemed great. I don't know why we needed to spend so much time on Logan and literally anyone. Not to mention we barely got to know Johnny. Had they edited out that one scene where he was really vulnerable with Victoria on the beach, her cheating probably wouldn't have even mattered
I also felt that they gave Michael too much air time. We didn’t need him to narrate everything. I would have preferred that that time be split amongst a couple of other contestants instead of giving all the time to him. For awhile there I thought it was the Michael show.
They SO BADLY want to prove that the Jesse-era is better than the Chris Harrison-era that they completely trash it. The split-week thing was just toxic in every way. That to me was close to torture. They had them constantly on edge, constantly with their guard up. That's not ok and it won't lead to good relationships. They put everything in a pressure cooker and then shot the pressure cooker to space just for the heck of it.

WAY over produced/controlled environment. I would’ve liked the longer season had they kept it somewhat real but nope. They filled it with NONSENSE and cut out great stuff we do want to know/see-so much left on the floor it’s just bad decisions all around. Sigh.

Sigh was a good summary lol. This was so dragged out and you don't get to know much about the individuals and the couples, especially the strong ones like Serene and Brandon. The whole Ashley and Jared and the fart in the boom boom room also summarizes this season.
I truly do not understand what these bach producers are thinking. They consistently go against what the audience DOESNT want.

Would love to see you do a forensic analysis of the tape to see if there is any evidence that the 'Michael A having a separate house away from the beach' conspiracy is true. The main thing that pushes me to believe it is that we were never shown any video calls between him and his son which absolutely would have had to happen.
Hopefully he can just stay in his actual house in Ohio, with his kid "that he misses soo much"...and never be on my screen again.
I’d believe that 100% even if he didn’t have a kid. The treatment he got compared to everyone was even palpable on his face. Like it was a fun great vacation with great service.

@@tyra6012 most seasons they have shown couples going to the boom boom room. They would never show actual footage of them having sex. I mean last season BIP Riley and Maurissa went several times and talked about it.
Honestly think they stopped airing “boom boom room” footage because of the amount of harassment towards contestants… hard to believe no couples even cuddled or something in there to be in the AC & bed together

I'm glad you brought up Love Island. I just watched the new season on Netflix and what a contrast! Still trash TV but so refreshing after this season of BIP. I think the Bachelor franchise could learn something here.
It was truly the worst, they could not get even three couples to the finals - out of so many! The split week was nothing but unpleasant and awkward and it felt like it sucked a lot of the fun out of it - there were barely any fun sexy dates, no boom boom room visits... didn't enjoy them bullying Sally, also possibly Teddi .... just felt like a a long draining day.

The editing for this season was just awful. Wayyyy too much of the things nobody wanted and wayyyy too little of the things we did. Why did we have full episodes where it felt like nothing happened but watching a married couple rip ass on each other, yet we get barely any screen time with Brandon and Serene? Why did we have to watch a half hour worth of recap videos at the ATFR, yet they cut out 11 hours worth of people talking, a good amount of which we definitely needed to see as so many plotlines were just left completely unresolved for the viewers such as Andrew and everything with him and Teddi and Jessenia and Ency.
I have enjoyed your videos and now look forward to them. See you for the next go-round.

I agree with all of this. Also I feel like with so many episodes they really could have focused on the romance mode. Especially with Brandon and Serene. I love them together but also I would have really liked to see more intimate conversations with them. I feel like every time we saw them it was like “wow I love you so much you’re my person I can’t wait to marry you”. Which is great but also, towards the end I was like okay what conversations have they had that led them to this point because we haven’t seen any of that!! Like those deep convos that Victoria and Jonny had im SURE Serene and Brandon had also but we didn’t get to see any of them. It was just like “oh they are they jade and tanner of this season they are going to live happily ever after duh”. So yeah I just wish we would have been able to see more into their relationship.
All I will say is Love Island is really slow and boring. They have such long episodes for hardly anything happening. I still prefer the bachelor franchise but I agreed they made lots of stupid editing choices. It was a little difficult to watch some time. (Also that scene from Parks and Rec is exactly what I thought of too)
Thank you for another informative review fantake I agree with everything you said last season was far more entertaining than this one I was glued to screen every week I think the ratings would been improved if they'd gotten more controversial people like Greg, tino - ,other cast from last season to cause more drama ,and bringing in more viewer's.

The beach is so crusty too. Like nothing looks luxurious like a fantasy vacation. The living and party areas kind of look gross like no one cleans.

Yeah, I don't really see the hype around BiP. At least in Bachelorette/Bachelor the leads and contestants meet for the first time right then and there (not always though).
I realized I start watching each season but then stopping after the 4th or 5t episode. Its just not the same anymore

I agree with you on all points made. It was just horrible even though I watched each week. I don’t know if I was hoping that it would get better. Maybe it was just that wreck that you can’t stop watching.

Yep. The over production and manufacturing of drama is completely ruining the show. It’s even come to the point where producers know paradise has a reputation of being the silly show of the three and they’re now over producing silliness to the point where it’s not even funny (example: well’s recap of salley). But ya there were so many occurrences of manufactured drama that ruined the show.. basically everything relating to salley, both kira and justin coming back despite them being sent home, Danielle magically coming down for Michael, etc. It’s just not fun to watch. I miss the old paradise when couples would genuinely form on the beach (and not beforehand) and then drama would naturally spawn from that. Now it’s like everything’s pre-planned. Bachelor nation is constantly talking to eachother so these couples are already pre-established. No one comes in w an open mind.. they’re just here to date whoever they’ve been dm’ing. Correct me if I’m wrong but Eliza got send home night 1? I don’t remember Eliza making it far yet she was at the top of both Rodney and justin’s want list? Like how? I don’t think she got a lot of screentime. This has been an issue since Blake H’s season of paradise and i really don’t know how they can fix it. It’s annoying though. There were so many other issues too. Obviously the Ashley and Jared was so so bad. We watch the show to see new couples form. There was no reason why they deserved that much screentime. They didn’t get together on paradise and if I’m being honest, I don’t like either of them. I could not care less about Ashley and Jared. They took away time from the couples on the beach. Which may I add, there was only 1 likable couple on the beach: Brandon and serene and they barely got screentime. I feel like the only time we saw them was during their one on one’s. It was super hard to root for any of the couples since it seems like we saw ZERO time spent together for any of them. The couples were either unlikable like Michael and Danielle due to him sorta using sierra, toxic like Aaron and Genevieve/Logan and Kate, weak like both the twins’ relationship, or we knew the ending like w Johnny and Victoria. Tyler and Britney were likable but like you mentioned, they got no screen time. Most of the screentime was filled w over produced drama. And the casa amor twist was a fail. I’d say it was a fail slightly due to the girls not being open at all to the new men, but at the same time it’s understandable why they’re upset about being torn from their partner. That also took away from couples actually developing since they were separated for a week. This season was just bad. My last and final complaint is about Shanae. I dont care if it’s been almost a year since clayton’s season, I still cannot move past her blatant ableism towards Elizabeth. She wasn’t just a bully or a villain you love to hate. She was legitimately toxic and causing harm w the way she treated Elizabeth. Not a single person involved (production, shanae, Clayton) gave a sincere, public apology where they take accountability for what happened. In fact, they completely breezed over it and acted like it never happened. Shanae straight up talked about pushing Genevieve off Niagara Falls (murder) and they made it seem like her biggest scandal was throwing a trophy. Instead of cleaning up their mess and making things right, they invite shanae back and give her a golden edit? Like I don’t care if she and Genevieve patched things up and stayed relatively calm on paradise. She showed her true colors on Clayton’s season and everything since has just been a fake attempt to redeem her image. It’s so frustrating to watch the show when it gives a platform to people like her (and Hayden for that matter). She even showed her true colors again during the salley situation and when Kate originally stole Logan. She’s not a good person. I know this is alot of typing but honestly after nearly 8 weeks (i think) of sitting through this painful season, I needed some outlet to express my frustrations. I really really hope production could listen to the fans and dial back on the drama. We don’t want the most dramatic season ever if it means production is going to meddle and manipulate the cast members into causing drama. The drama is only enjoyable when it comes naturally. What they really need is another season like tayshia’s that focuses on romance and actually getting to know and love the cast members. If they keep going in the direction they’re heading to, I wouldn’t be surprised if they lost a bunch of viewers. Bachelor nation is exhausted.

I watched the first few episodes, but couldn't take it anymore. They were too boring and stretched out. So I just watched your weekly recaps to stay in the know. Thanks for your videos! They are flawless and just the right amount of drama! They should hire you to produce the Bachelor. Those episodes would be 1000% more entertaining than the crap they've been throwing together.
I love me some Bach in Paradise but the production of this show has gotten worse and worse. You can tell they try to be like other (more successful) reality tv shows and they can't even copy them correctly. It's tooo overly produced and it takes the "natural"-ness out of reality tv. Bach Nation is pretty vocal yet they never listen to us, but wonder why their ratings get lower each episode. Whatever...maybe they know something we don't but this season was cool but....needed some severe tweaking.
i didnt like that they brought ashley and jared in, didnt like gabby and rachel coming in for drama, could have done without all of the sally drama, well's story times were too much, and i didnt like them taking people off the beach and replacing them for a week or two then letting shit hit the fan. i much preferred last season that had different hosts and people actually there to give advice and not petty drama.

I just can’t feel bad for the contestants who get bad edits or manipulated. They are all grown adults and the editing on the show is wildly known. The contestants choose to go on the show for social media clout and the doors it can open and that’s okay, but it’s not fair for them to bastardize important mental health concepts and blame the show , when they knew what could/would happen.
Omg The old couple coming back and taking lots of time away, and all the fabricated story times, and recaps, producers meddling… The producers are ruining the show

Crazy how when he was being so blatantly manipulative and awful to a woman (Katie) it's not only silence but women actively defending him, thirsting after him, going after Katie, etc., but then the second a man (Johnny) gets hurt as a result of Greg, the whole BN explodes in anger. I smell strong misogyny
Idk. I've been in abusive relationships and I didn't get nearly as bent out of shape about Greg. Katie did nearly the exact same thing to him, so I call it a wash.

I feel like they only 2-3 villains per season, not an entire beach full of them. It is still nice seeing people couple up and meet somewhat normal people. I'll take a thousand boring Michael's over 1 obnoxious Aaron.

what I hate is the highly sexual dates between couples who are just meeting and don't even know each other. Sex is not the most important part of a real and lasting relationship, and you don't even have to try out the merchandise on Fantasy Suite night to decide you will have a great relationship. So tired of all that!
