      To smutne, że mama i siostra nie mogą patrzeć jak wspaniałą jesteś osobą, jak się rozwijasz. Inspirujące są również wyjazdy. Ja uwielbiam górskie wycieczki.

    Oh, Jackie. So tough, isn't it? I also lost my mom and sys in 2022. Sometimes it's just feel unreal both left at the same year, both with cancer... but many days now I feel they so present in my life, entwined with all my references and with what I made of myself that I can only feel very grateful for having them with me while it's possible. I hope you may feel that way also. Pertaining to hobbies, I was a cross stitcher, than 2020 started watercolor, and now I'm discovering bookbinding. You are an inspiration to many people with your chanel. Thank you a lot 😚

    • @JackieHernandezWatercolor
      @JackieHernandezWatercolor  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes, they are a part of you always ❤️ I feel the same way. It took a while to feel anything but sadness but now I like I am who I am today because of them. Cross-stitch is a wonderful hobby. I’ve only done a little, but my mom was a cross-stitcher and she taught all her kids. Feeling left out, my dad got into it and he turned out to be the best of all of us. He’s 78 and still doing cross-stitch. Thanks for watching!

      @JackieHernandezWatercolor , so sweet your father keeps cross- stitching until now 😍. So lovely to know ❤️ . I have to confess, though, that what attracted me to it was the painting resemblance to a person who believed painting is only for chosen ones. Go figure 😅

    I am so sorry for your loss. You have inspired me tremendously. I am a photographer first and learning to watercolor as my 'second' hobby and enjoy all kinds of other hands on hobbies. Looking forward to more of your videos. 🏵

      Love that! Watercolor will be a great alternate to your photography. I always find taking photos is so much more physically taxing than you’d think. And watercolor is a sit down and relax activity 😊

    I am a sewist. My primary hobby is making bags. From small zip pouches to larger more traditional handbags out of fine materials like leather. But some days I am just not motivated to sew. That is when I pull out a youtube tutorial on watercolor and go for it. I have invested in quality products for this...the good paper and paint...but i am by NO MEANS good at it!! I can't draw a stick so i trace everything. every now and again i will complete a piece that one of my kiddos or my mom ask to have and that makes me feel so great. pivoting to a different hobby definitely gives my brain a break and offers up some mojo for a new adventure. Thanks for sharing your story and keeping it so real. HUGS!

      Love that watercolor is your alternate creative hobby. If you enjoy your time painting, I think that’s the most important thing.

      I have many hobbies. Until recently, I was a quilter. While I still quilt, it is no longer my primary hobby. I would say, right now, my primary hobby would be genealogy followed by photography, sashiko embroidery, dressmaking, watercolour, journaling and like you, learning new things on the computer. My friends all shake their heads at me for the amount of time learning programs like Lightroom and photoshop. Right now I am learning how to use Wordpress for one of my volunteer roles at our local family history society. My aim is for watercolour to become my main hobby. I just need to get past my fear of failure!

    Oh my so very sorry for your loss of your Mom and sister. I too have lost my Mom, Dad, and brother and actually have lived much longer than they have. I also love photography, other crafts besides painting. My biggest challenge is the computer but have learned a lot. I wish you the best. I wish I could just do painting and crafts 24/7, however taking care of my health, spending time with my 4 kids and their families is so important to me too. Also spending time with my husband, oh my God is so good.

    • @JackieHernandezWatercolor
      @JackieHernandezWatercolor  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You’re an inspiration. I don’t think any of us can actually paint and craft 24/7. We need all the other wonderful bits of life too. I think those are the things that make our creations better anyway. And we have our loved ones to share our art with.

    For me it’s music (I’m a violinist), reading nonfiction-a form of lifelong learning, visiting art galleries for inspiration for my own paintings, outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, snorkeling and more and I also exercise daily for longevity. I am fortunate to live in Hawai’i where I can do outdoor activities 365 days, and have constant beauty to inspire me. You are my favorite YT artist (and I follow dozens), your content is so much in alignment with how I approach art and I adore your artistic style and hope to learn more about how you achieve it❤

    I agree that outside creative pursuits can fuel our artmaking in good ways. For me, swimming for both pleasure and fitness is my favorite. But also tending to plants, beautifying my home, cooking, walking, and exploring museums and bookstores.

    I'm so sorry you lost your Mom and your sister when they were still so young. Health is so very important. I'm an older person with health issues, but I still try to keep active and when I can my perferred form of physical activity is swimming. It's much easier on the knees!😂😂 I also enjoy gardening, crafting, cooking, visiting historic places (I live in Italy) and going to museums and art exhibits. I paint with two groups of women twice a week and I think that socializing with like-minded people is very important, esp at my age. I love learning new things and consider myself an eternal student! Thank you for sharing your talent and your knowledge!

    The main one you didn't mention would be travel for me. There's so much inspiration from different places. And sometimes it's easier to paint without the responsibilities and distractions from life at home...as long as you bring supplies. I feel like the queen of hobbies, though. I love so many! Swimming, reading, rock climbing, writing, paddleboarding, and most of the ones you mentioned, too. Thanks for a great video! I subscribed! Looking forward to more. And I cannot imagine losing my sister. 😭💗

    Besides painting, I take lots of inspiring pictures, kayak, walk the dog, sit on my deck looking out at the mountains and lake and watch nature. Ok that’s summertime. I live in a short summer, long frozen winters area. Winter time I live in a black and white world so then I sew and make fiber art pieces and watch the ice fishermen down on the lake. And paint 😍

    Preach, Jackie! I am so very sorry for your losses. I lost my Mum and then two years later I lost my Husband. Those kinds of losses are so hard. I found the best thing I can do for me is to live a life as full of love and good things as I can. I have been an artist for over 60 years primarily in pencil but also in oils and acrylics. Out of necessity, very long story, I have turned to watercolours and as I've mentioned before you are such an inspiration to me. What I'm doing with my watercolours is using photographs that my Husband had taken of some of the leaves and flowers around where we live and turning those into paintings. That's my way of keeping him alive and keeping inspiration alive in me. My extra thing that I do is also learning, but I am a huge history buff and try to get my hands and my brain on anything involving history around the world and in my own area. That also helps with those days when I'm very down. Thank you again for your inspiration and for sharing your talents here.💜📚🎨💜

    I so agree with you on all the points you made Jackie. I took up piano playing 10 years ago. My piano is in my studio. Playing is better than watching paint dry and allows me to think about something else and refocus when I get back to my art. I also bind books (and repair books.) This has helped me so much to make my own art journals exactly the way I want them. I love your channel and your decisive and positive approach to what you do. Watching your videos inspires me so much. Thank you for taking the time to make so many awesome, inspiring videos ❤

    Watercolor has been my new hobby for about a year. I am loving it but definitely am challenged by the intricacies. I began yoga in 2020 and it has become a daily practice. It teaches me patience and allows me to do things I never thought I could at my age.(71) I try to walk 2-3 miles a day outside or on the beach which is so calming and still invigorating. Reading is my lifelong love. Last winter I began tennis lessons. Who knows where that will go but I’m willing to try!

    This is an important reminder to fuel your creativity with other activities to not only boost your art-making sessions but also keep your body and mind on a healthy path. I try to incorporate learning, reading and word games into my spare time. If I'm not painting, I'm collaging and experimenting with different art styles. I have a stationary bike plus I recently got a punching bag not only for exercise but to release some anxiety and frustration! I'm eager for this Florida heat to let up so I can get back outside and enjoy nature.
    So sorry you lost your mother to that evil disease. I lost both parents to dementia and my brother to cancer in his 40s. All the more reason to make the extra effort to care for my health and mental well being. ❤

      @JackieHernandezWatercolor  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ooh, my husband is trying to get me to do pickleball. It looks fun.
      Not sure if it helps, but my favorite types of art now are all ones I didn’t think I would enjoy. I thought I would like acrylic paint or gouache but I didn’t enjoy either. I thought I’d hate college because of glue-mess, but I loved it. Same with watercolor, I didn’t think it was for me until I tried it. Keep trying new things!

I always challenged myself to draw. I love mark making. I took a class this summer to learn collage. I really didn’t like the process until I saw the results. Great video. I am cleaning things up around here that I haven't used in a long time. Your comment about photography got to me, my camera is one thing I was thinking of getting rid of - well you changed my mind. I crochet, sew, embroider, go for rides in the country on beautiful days and simply spend time with my hubby of 43 years. I am new at watercolor, I have done oil and acrylic and have always wanted to do watercolor. I used to doodle a lot as a child, your mark making brought that back to my mind. I am looking forward to your video on that.

I am now retired and started doing some drawing to deal with the stress of caring for my father in law who has dementia. Art does seem to help with stress and I've always liked drawing anyways. Few hobbies I have are cooking and walking in nature. You're absolutely correct it has a positive effect on creativity.

    Scrapbooking/junk journaling is definitely a good hobby to have when I’m not drawing. In my junk journal, I know that nobody will ever see it (unless I show a page or two), it’s so personal. It’s like a diary, photo book ..and I sketch, use stickers, collect things and I don’t feel any pressure to be “good” so that I can show my followers lol I also crochet/knit, read, video gaming and nature walks.

    Hiya Jackie, At the moment my watercolour journey is on temporary hold due to burn out basically, but I will be getting back to it soon when the time is right.
    I love playing music, particularly on my mandolin, and particularly from the countries in Great Britain, I'm English, and Scandinavian and other European traditional folk tunes.
    I also restore old mandolins to give them new life and enable musicians to experience the instruments of the past two centuries, I find this really very enjoyable.
    I love languages and talking to friends face 2 face over the Internet from different countries, and I also combine the two, for instance talking to Brazilian friends about their Choro music played on their bandolims/mandolins, and swapping ideas.
    I really appreciate your honesty too Jackie and I'm also very aware of keeping myself as well as possible as I have certain health issues, but I also make that interesting by trying different recipes, etc.
    Take care, David. XX

    Thank you Jackie! Good advice from someone who knows. I have been WC painting 4 years now and still feel like a newbie! I like to try other methods I see on YT. I have succulents on my patio that I enjoy caring for, and a sweet dog that my husband and I walk (not often enough) As I walk I enjoy seeing other home landscapes and gardens. Great video!! A hobby really can be anything that you like to do that gives you a “Rest Time” from creating your art. Your art/gift is a seed as Mark 4 talks about that will grow, night and day that seed will grow and blossom. But as that seed needs rest time, needs watering & sun time, so does your talent. It is important to rest, take up a hobby like Jackie says. Your talent will blossom!

    I’m so very sorry for your losses. You are such an inspiration and I’m so thankful I discovered your channel and really enjoy your videos. As you started talking about mark making and showing some of the pages in your sketchbook, I was immediately thinking I hope you would do some videos on that. AND……just like that, you said you were going to. I’m very excited. Blessings to you and thank you for sharing your talents. ❤

    Jackie, I just wanted to say I’m so sorry for the losses you have experienced in your life, I totally understand and wish you healing and strength. Funny, art and hobbies have helped me tremendously after losing my mother a year ago. I do lots of crafts, watercolor, reading, photography and gardening. I’m glad I found your channel and wish you all the best. 😊

      Thank you so much. I hope the same for you after the loss of your mom. I agree that art has tremendous healing power. I found it also helped me be with the complicated thoughts and emotions instead of ignoring them. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for your inspiration! I just lost my sister/best friend to Alzheimers, so I'm exploring all experts, foods, activities, etc, to not get it if possible. I too, am interested in all things creative- art, jewelry making, gardening, exploring and learning about nature. So I really appreciate your comments about doing different things, esp when I feel guilty about having so much art supplies that I haven't used yet! Thank you for your encouragements and sharing your expertise ❤

      I’m so sorry for your loss 😢 I know the fear of getting the disease. Watercolor (and these other hobbies) helped me work through a lot of anxiety after my losses. Sounds like you’re being very proactive. So glad you’re continuing to explore new hobbies. You definitely should feel guilty about the supplies you haven’t gotten around to yet. They’ll be there for you when you’re ready 😊

    You always inspire and spark new ideas for me, Jackie. Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us! ❤ Getting outside is a tough one for me (I like painting on the couch!) but I think committing to five minutes a day may be a great place to start.

      Thank you for watching! I don’t paint outside, but I find inspiration outside. I think five minutes is a great goal to start with and you can build up from there.

    Excellent video! I have always had hobbies, primarily needlework as I knit, crochet and cross stitch. I absolutely love watercolor and your channel is so inspiring! I would so benefit from a mark making video as my time is currently limited, and doodling/mark making is stress relief for me which I cannot express how much of that I need today! So happy to have found you!😊

    Thank you so much for sharing so many personal stories. You've inspired me to explore my current hobbies. One hobby I enjoy is participating on current research projects which are listed in Zooniviverse. It is a group which lists current research projects from art, literature, medicine, and science.❤

    Thank you for your ideas. I’m sorry for your loss. I lost a younger brother and my father a year apart and know your pain. I would love to try watercolour. I dabble with paint and drawing but can easily say I’m a beginner at both. My other hobbies are knitting and crochet. I also love to write. I get lost in the writing and find that hours have gone by without realizing it.

    I am interested in the mark making idea. My Mother was a fantastic artist. I try, but I just don’t have the skills. When I lost her almost 7 yrs ago she left me all of her supplies and library of books. Every medium I think there is available. My confidence in myself is not so much there.
    I’m trying to find a hobby that interests me. Do you have a video on mark making?

    Hi Jackie, I just posted this to an art group. Very helpful for beginners or anyone who needs inspiration. I hurt my thumb and can't hold a paintbrush (can barely write), but am going do some of this so my hand doesn't get too stiff. Your videos are very nice as your personality is warm and inviting. :)

    Lamento mucho tus perdidas.
    Pero también agradezco el que pudieras compartir tus experiencias.
    Otro pasatiempo que algunas personas se sienten muy cómodos es la lectura. Pero al final se trata de éso, no perder el interés en las cosas. Y aprender algo cada dia

    Writing is my hobby and my entire life. I never get burned out because I am doing what I love, not to sell anything. You should try it, it's liberating. Then have a cup of tea and sleep a restful night.
