Thank you! I have been anxiously awaiting this video. Ill be ordering the kit and I do hope you will do some additional videos to do some mark making with you. Your voice and teaching style are very relaxing and it’s always helpful to watch a tutorial. This is such a great idea! ❤
Thank you! I do a lot of sketchbook ink drawing and mark making and also find it very relaxing and gratifying. This video gave me some new perspectives on approach, such as settng up a pencil grid or using my compass (which I use in my collage work but never thought to use for sketchbook mark making). What a great idea.
I just had a stroke, complete out of the blue. But I’m basically back to 100% & as an artist, mark-making is one of my favorites. But, think I’m gonna try your approach with my non dominant hand, the one I lost with the stroke, as my own art therapy. Love it!!!
So inspiring! Lovely patterns. I especially love combining patterns with watercolor subjects (like those bottles!) and collage papers using book pages.
No way. You can do this. It’s the repetition that makes it look so neat, but I promise none of my marks are perfect. Also, the mandala-style design is one of the trace-ables in The Mark Making Starter Kit. So I had the lines to follow 😊
I just ordered mine and have downloaded all the parts. Sometimes I’m too blocked to know what marks to make and I’m hoping this will free me up to give me ideas on what I want to do. Thank you for creating this!
I just stumbled upon this video by chance after I started drawing various shapes and patterns with black pens (often mixed with watercolors) a few weeks ago. Even though I’m a total perfectionist and not particularly good at drawing or painting, it has absolutely captivated me and helped prevent me from reaching full burnout! So far, I was only familiar with doodling and Zentangle, which I enjoyed but didn’t feel fully connected to. Now, I’ve come across your video and heard about mark making for the first time, and it really resonates with my style and taste! Your video was super helpful, and I was able to take away some great insights! Thanks so much for that! PS: Since you mention your kids, I’m curious-how do you involve them in your practice? Do they sit with you while you’re drawing or being creative? My kids are 3 and 5, and I’m still trying to figure out how to integrate my “drawing meditation” into our daily routine.
So glad you found this video and discovered mark making. I was never drawn to Zentangle either. I prefer not connecting all my shapes and lines. I think you're going to love my new video where i combine watercolor and mark making: th-cam.com/video/Rwhxrqpy5fg/w-d-xo.html My kids are teenagers now so they're not interested in making art with mom anymore. And I didn't make a lot of art when they were younger, but I was into crafting and sewing. I usually set them up with their own project at the same table as me and we worked in parallel. Of course, I expected to get interrupted a lot, so I chose my projects accordingly.
This is great; I can’t wait to start! I too would love some doodle-along videos with you. Do you know where you got your little ruler or the brand name? I can’t seem to find it online. Thanks, Sarah
I just looked at the Markmakig Kit. There are two different prices. Would you explain what the difference is please? Thank you. I am interested, but want to make sure of what I am actually geting.
I don’t. The watercolor sketchbook paper doesn’t bleed through at all. The smaller sketchbook doesn’t bleed through but you can see the marks faintly on the other side…not enough to prevent me from using both sides. On thinner paper, I just make marks on one side of the paper.

I’m so glad it was helpful. I love using guidelines. I hope you give it a try. Mark making would make amazing fodder for your collages.

Jackie have you tried fountain pens? I find they work really well and they come in a myriad of color cartridges
I have not, but I’m researching 😁 I love my dip pen, so I’m sure I’ll love fountain pens too. Do you have a one you love or recommend?
Hi Jackie, Just curious, did you make the design on the wall ? It looks like your examples in the books you’re sharing
No, I didn't. It's wallpaper from Hygge & West. It definitely inspires me though 😊
I was wondering the same thing.

Great idea! The ruler is by Dritz. I bought it at a Michael’s or Joann’s. I couldn’t find it online either.
@@JackieHernandezWatercolor thanks! I love your channel! Sarah

I apologize. There was a typo at the bottom of the page. There is only one price.
@@JackieHernandezWatercolor Thank you. I love your teaching style and want to continue to learn. Have a blessed day.
