I have been gardening, quilting, soaping and canning for most of my life. I believe there might be some value to documenting some of the skills I have learned over the years. Hi Toni - it’s always nice to get home after a trip. I’m not finished with garden harvesting yet - still lots to do. Only half way finished digging up potatoes, still have carrots and beets and some grape tomatoes still producing. Still having lots of cucumbers, Swiss chard, kale and celery. Haven’t quite finished picking all the eggplant from the greenhouse. All the habanero’s haven’t ripened yet. Been very busy canning and freeze drying. Just going out to harvest onions, garlic and herbs. Those were some lovely items at thrift stores. Looking forward to your next cooking video
yes this is the busy season if you have a good harvest, I have to purchase some things and do some more canning and freeze drying too!
It's nice to get away, especially this time of year. There is a lot of work catching up when home again.

Debie, Yes! Thank you! even the inside of the wardrobe was in good shape, but I have no room for it and shipping it home would have cost a small fortune!

Thank You! yes I seriously considered buying that cast iron piece, and there was another large cauldron type that was a good price that could have been used as a planter or to hold firewood...but !!!!! yes difficult to walk away!
Thank God for Canada! Our tech industry is losing ground for employment numbers climbing. People are losing their vehicles weekly. Home mortgages are also losing ground. People can barely afford groceries. It’s great having you back Toni and I’m sorry your vacation suffered a blip, but 2024 there appears to be many unexplained horrors and blips. As for our gardens here in WNC, this was the worst year I’ve experienced in 32 years. We finally have been getting rain, but it’s a little too late for much more than greens. That they will come up is anyone’s guess?
Yes it's the worse garden season that I remember as well!
I prefer plain yogurt too. I put fresh or canned fruit, granola and little maple syrup or honey on it.
yup, my preferences as well, I have taken to liking granola now, but I use to add my own homemade jams for variation when I didn't have fresh fruit in the house.
Good morning Toni. So happy you and Mark made it home safely. Besides the worldly events...I was worried about the two of you because the weather in the area you were visiting. Even though you had car issues, both of you kept your appetite 😉 (medical humor) and continue your journey. Fingers cross that your current leader will be kicked to the curb.

yup, sadly..I purchased lots of Tupperware eons ago....I still own one piece...a small yellow colander
I put my tomatoes in a ziplock and freeze them.
Then later I will pull them out and cook the tomato sauce & then Canned the tomato sauce.
yes freezing tomatoes is definitely a time saver during the busy harvest season!
Hoping Canada gets the political change it needs. Sounds like you were on vacation. Good for you. You're right, it can be tedious doing the same thing day after day. I'm feeling like I'd like a getaway too, but can find a feasible way to do it justice now. Oh well, I'll try to find new ways to enjoy the home the Lord has already provided!
we hope so too, it will happen, just a matter of time...yup, we were trying to get away since the spring but to many things got in the way!
