Mason jar omlets are amazing. I have a bunch in my pantry. Used 1/2 pint jars and four tablespoons of fd eggs with all the stuff …cheese, sausage, peppers, onions, mushrooms, whatever … then to mix with everything in the jar fill it with water, shake and let rehydrate two or three minutes. Perfect for one person.

Oh my word...I am just rolling. I love watching this channel and I love your mom. It is wonderful watching the two of you together. My mom is no longer with me and I miss her so much. That lady taught us a lot about the old ways. She was an herbalist However then then there was not a label for it. People were always calling or coming to her. My sister and I began to go back to the old ways several years ago based on what we remembered of her preserving foods. I began studying herbalism earlier this year and I am so thrilled to be able to help my family and others. The Honeystead channel has been a blessing to me in so many ways. Our tiny homestead thanks you and please keep sharing.💞

How to vacuum seal with freeze dryer:
Take out the tray carriage and the trays.

Turn on vacuum pump from menu

There are some brands of those rice noodles that come in single serving sizes that are already wrapped up in a rounded shape that would fit perfectly in the jar. I bought a pack because sometimes I want just a little especially if I’m frying them to puff up and it’s really hard to tear the big bunches apart. They can be labeled as nests. This is a great idea that I will be doing for myself because we are ramen lovers but most ramen has gluten and MSG both of which I can’t have so I need these for myself.

Looking on the site for the Harvestrite Freeze Dryer…I read the reviews. One or two stood out majorly….the fact that customer service would not help by repairing or replacing their broken freezers. A few were so unhappy as they really didn’t have the money for repairs even if they could’ve found someone…after spending the huge amount to buy one. One fellow only had his 4 mos. when the motor quit, customer service would not answer.
I’ve been researching for awhile but will go with an American made company with good customer service!

As far as the candy thing I've only done some skittles which are fine if you like skittles. My favorite desert candy thing though is cheese cake. Freeze it and then slice it when it is frozen in to 1/4 inch or so slices. Helps if you freeze the trays first so you don't have to work at lightning speed. Even better than ice cream.

I love my freeze drier, I bought a small in June of 2021 and another in May 2022. I can use one for processing and the other for quick freezing trays because my freezers are usually full. Then there are times I process onions, peppers and kale in one, fruits in the other (aromas don't contaminate) Costco rotisserie chicken processes great, have even done smoked turkey that I bought on closeout after Thanksgiving. I've powdered a lot of vegetables to make soup seasoning blends.

I love watching how much fun you have together because it reminds me of my mother and I. I purchased a freeze dryer and few months ago for food and now it’s a fun project my mom and I do together. Thanks to you ladies we’re now learning the medicinal side as well and growing what we can. I have done a few things I’ve been pretty happy with. Omelets are delicious. I made tzatziki for gyros and freeze dried the extra sauce for future dinners. We made cold start yogurt in the instant pot then freeze dried it plain for recipes. Also freeze dried different berries and fruit then powdered in the blender to divide into yogurt for different flavors. Apple sauce bites are also delicious. So many possibilities with it.

Get some kitchen scissors used to cut chicken to cut those noodles. That is what I use. Be sure to also cover over the topof it with a sheet of plastic wrap and weight it down before you cut. Or if you have someone working with you have them hold the plastic wrap down over the noodkeswhile you are cutting it.

Oh my gosh… you guys crack me up. It made me laugh too because as soon as I saw you grab the noodles, I knew there was going to be a struggle… I’ve had my own experience 🤣
This is a great idea though. I also have a teenager who LOVES ramen. I don’t have a freeze dryer, but I dehydrated some veggies for her to add, and it’s like pulling teeth getting her to add ANY nutrition 🤦🏻‍♀️

For vacuum sealing mason jars, or even doing your own jars that have the pops up when opened, you can use a pressure canning setup and a vacuum pump....the vacuum saver type attachments cant pull as much vacuum. And you can set multiple jars in the chamber

You could do mug cakes, brownies using canning jars. Again freeze dry milk, butter, use coco powder, sugar/sugar substitute, baking powder etc. I have a harvest right love to get creative.

I have Frank's red hot sauce that has been freeze dried so suracha should freeze dry just fine. And will probably be fabulously flavorful
