The room looks really nice with the fireplace on that wall, especially in the evening with the fire going. I think a plain coloured tablecloth that picks up the colours in your rug would look better. Also, think the clock is making the room look ‘unbalanced’ in that location.
Since you asked, and it's just my opinion, but I also believe the clock needs to be removed. Looks like it's just waiting to grab anybody that walks through the door.
Feng Shui is lacking in this room. The sofa needs to be against the wall opposite of where it currently is positioned now to open up the pathway directly to the kitchen door, avoiding a maze~like feel around the room. This furniture arrangement will allow for an open pathway in the area to encourage positive energy in your home. Adding a bit more artwork on the wall will activate energy in your environment also and declutter your home to allow positive energy flow. Transforming the energy in a room can enhance your well being, creating a healthier alignment of your internal energy which can lead to a fresh perspective on life. Hope this helps! :)
Hi Sean Love the fireplace where it is. Could you put one leaf of your table down and put that side up against the wall give you a bit more space for the chair. 👵
I thought the same thing , and was also curious if the spot you have the click is the only available place or is there room in the right of the the fireplace? I think the other side would look less crowded? My opinion of course! Pay no mind ☺️
Totally agree -my thoughts entirely- if needed table could always be bought out again and drop leaf side put up - this is the idea behind a drop leaf table -new layout much better 😉 👍 so cosy
Maybe moving the grandfather clock to the area near the camera. Just don’t know if that’s a wall. Also, paint a darker background behind the electric stove and pull the rug from under the mantle and stove so it’s in front of the stove not under it. A rug under the table defines that space as well.
Must move clock. It s too much there. Also perhaps a few table runners to change things up. Look around your home to find pictures to group above fireplace. I'm sure you have beautiful pictures you've taken. Good start
Looks lovely … glad everyone is back together in the cosy family home. Sorry I couldn’t help with the lifting, I was holding a cup of tea in both hands!
That arrangement looks much better and the cat ornaments really set off the fireplace well. Topsy looks thoroughly traumatised! The clock is much too close to the doorway - it looks bizarre and will impede flow.
Loving the new layout personally I think your table cloth looks busy so perhaps dropping a leaf on the table and getting a wine coloured table cloth would definitely warm that end of the room x
Looks Cosy, but can you move the clock to the other side of the fireplace? To me, that wall is too cluttered. But I love the fireplace placement, and a nice large mirror or painting would look lovely.
Hi Sean I like what you’ve done with the fireplace and mantelpiece I think the fire surround and mantelpiece need painting but also maybe stand the electric burner on a couple of narrow pieces of slate rather than the carpet now it’s in a fireplace. Welsh slate of course !
Black mantel would look fabulous! My 2 cents: make it a LARGE work of art over the mantel, placed not too high, to fill that negative space, and get a tablecloth which picks up some of the colors in your Persian rug, to balance everything (or chuck the cloth and replace with a runner, placemats or a thick clear plastic protector film, cut to tabletop size, to show off the table) Lastly, add extra artwork to the wall over the table, again to balance and fill that space - make it a wee bit Victorian eh? It will look great between your clock and secretary. Cheers from Montreal 😉❤
I think the couch is too big,but if you need that one put it on the other wall. You then have a clear run into the room. Give the clock away unless you have it for sentimental reasons. A mirror over the couch could look right, widen the room.
It’s good to move things around sometimes :) Haven’t read all the comments but I was told years ago that a grandfather clock shouldn’t go on a wall with a door due to the vibration. No idea where it would go instead though 😂
I like the new arrangement a lot. A colourful picture above the fire would be so nice. I agree with others about dropping a leaf on the table and changing the table cloth. I like the surround the colour that it is with the two kitties on the top.
I love moving furniture around. I move my furniture around clockwise every six months. I didn't mean to remove the clock, but I would say move the clock away from the door switch the fireplace and the sofa if you have the space. might make nice open flow. And if you're like, me, you can spin it all again in six months. What the heck. It all just fun.
I really love the fireplace there with the cat ornaments and I do agree that a nice colourful picture on the wall would be a nice touch to the room. I'm glad Topsey is okay after her ordeal outside. She looks so adorable ❤
I like the room like you have just made it and the picture on the wall above the fireplace just finishes the room off nicely. I would though put one side down on the table so it doesn't look so cluttered on the table wall.
Hi Sean -Yes absolutely better now 💯 percent!!. You might want to Drop a leaf or two of the table.just an idea .and a plain runner or table cloth.. also consider moving the clock. Fireplace looks great!. Xx
Not criticising but I think there is too much going on down one end of the room perhaps moving the clock if it's possible but really like the fireplace and fire on that wall 😊
Why do you Crowd your doorway? All you need there is those hanging curtains in it. Great show. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences with us.
I love the room ! I prefer to face the fireplace in my home, as well. And you can enjoy your seasonal decorations on the mantel. The lighting is so nice and cozy. For Christmas, you might want to try tiny rice lights. I have sets that stay steady mixed with lights that blink. And I add candles for scent and old world feel.
I have a tiny dining room come craft room come everything a polite suggestion as somebody else said drop one leaf put the flat side to the wall and change the green tablecloth to maroon or cream to coordinate with your cushions, the green one may be of use In your summerhouse the room looks absolutely lovely and cosy definitely keep it that way i have a fire just like yours and the mantel really makes a difference its all perfect for the cottage best wishes
Like others have said a mirror or large picture above the fireplace and some fairy lights across the top of the fire surround would look nice, it’s a definite improvement but I’d try and find a new place for the clock and maybe a smaller table or drop the leaves.
Sean room looks better, but you need to centralise fire surround and fire maybe think about a hearth, also a large old mirror above fireplace, change table cloth for a plain colour, don’t paint the back of the fire black as your fire will blend in and vanish, I think a nice burgundy table cloth n cushions will make the room very rich looking 👍🏻👍🏻
Good morning Sean, I love the new layout to your room, it looks proper cosy an cuddly, glad Topsy is back indoors an snug under her blanket. Also pleased you got your shed an updated to summer house. It be grand having Virtual visits with you when All your plants are blooming. Thanks for visit to Cardiff. Take care an granny Hugs from Southport! 🥰
I think a big picture above the fireplace, or a big mirror with a lovely frame would look dandy. Keep your sofa away a bit more from your radiators to let the heat out. We have not seen what the room looks like from the kitchen looking through, as maybe there is a different place you could put your sofa? xxx
Liking the new layout. I'd fasten the fireplace to the wall just incase it gets knocked if the girls are having a mad half hour, don't want any ornaments smashing x. If you want a bit of space on the backwall try dropping the sides of the table when your not using it. Mum use to do that with our table at home surprising what difference it made. Instead of cutting the skirting take abit off the bottom of the fire surround. The light really sets it off. Glad Topsey came in. My 2 boys don't like the flea stuff either. I only have to touch the brown paper bag they come in and Milo the tabby scarpers 😂😼
I prefer the new layout, it looks more cosy too. If the fire surround is wood, maybe strip it back to the wood & stain it.🤔 I know what you mean, about it all looking too white & wanting it to stand out, maybe a wood effect, to match your other furniture, would look good. You could always drop the back leaf of the table down. Like you said, live with it for a few days, but I think you're on to a winner there. A nice big picture on the wall......you had some that needed framing, maybe they could be put up🤔🤷♀️
Fire is better in that position. Lovely. Could you not move grandfather clock, and just have table and bureau in corner. A large canvas, or large clock would look great above fireplace. ❤ light on fireplace looks cosy.
Love the new fireplace. Definitely makes a nice focul point for the room and adds to the cosiness of it. I'm sure you won't like this but you did ask what we thought :). If you have room I'd move the grandfather clock to the hallway. As you said yourself, that wall is a bit busy. You need the table, chair and cupboard so if the clock wasn't there you'd be able to space them out a bit more. I also agree with a the viewers who have said that a different table cloth would be nice. That's a big bold pattern you've got there and, in my view, ii's too much - particularly as you have a bold rug by the fire. I'd definitely tone it down a bit. If you like green - and why not - a soft pale green with a small pattern would be better, I think. I hadn't noticed the lack of pendant light shade but yes, a shade would definitely be good. Something neutral. I also think the grey of the sofa (which is dominant) is fighting with the brown furniture. You can easily change this by buying a couple of cheap throws from Ikea perhaps - again a dusky pink or a off-white. I have several from Ikea and I wouldn't be without them. So versatile. You can snuggle underneath them in the evening too. Anyway, another great video Sean. Thank you!
I’d vote for the table by the window, fire stays where it is now, and grandfather clock moved along to middle of wall in the space vacated by the table.
I agree with that but Sean said something in a previous video about not wanting the table near the window because of filming which is such a shame as like you said the table would be better over by the window where Sean could eat and look out enjoying the day and planning plus it would be lovely and bright to sit over that side of the room.
I LOVE your new living room arrangement but agree with all the other comments that the tall case clock needs to be relocated somewhere else, it unbalances the room and makes the entrance into the room seem "tight". An nice big travel poster of Wales would look lovely above the fireplace mantel. LOVE the black cat figurines!
I love the new layout 😊👍 I know you said you wouldn't but if it was my room I'd relocate the clock to give you more room around the table. I will shut up now 😄
It looks really homely and cosy . The only thing is the beautiful clock seems in the way and out of place but otherwise it looks homely . And what you said about the electric cable I didn't realise you have to have a different one because mine has been plugged into an extension lead for many years .
You did ask. The Fire Surround looks ok in that position. I was thinking painting it a dark colour will make the room feel smaller. Shave the wood of the back of the surround rather than the skirting boards. So you can clean and move the rug, don't put the surround on top. That is if you did attach it to the wall.
Kitty is upset….hope she doesn’t hold a grudge for too long. Love how you have the room set up, very cosy. A plaid table cloth might look nice for fall and Xmas as well ( I change mine out for every season and occasion….lol). Can’t wait to see it set up for Xmas❤🇨🇦
This is crazy. I don't know what I'm doing watching some guy live out his life on you tube but I have to confess, I do enjoy it. Sean, you do such a good job.
Good morning, Yes, I love the mantelpiece in its new position. Fasten it to the wall each side with some brackets near the top. That's what I've done with mine, to stop it falling forwards. You don't want to lose any ornaments ❤
Love the fire where it is now and that lamp on it is spot on, I was wondering to give you slightly more space whether it might be a good idea that once you have got rid of the flooring for your shed and bike etc out of the opposite room down stairs, would it be a good idea to put the table and chair and the bureau in there instead and put the grand father clock where the bureau was as that would make more space for when your walking back and forth of your kitchen, then you would have room maybe to put your little coffee table at the end of your sofa. Anyway it's just an idea that's all. But fair play you have Done your little Welsh cottage up a treat since you moved in. Love from Gwent, South Wales. 🐈⬛🐈⬛💐
Talking about cleaners, people like us, clean before the cleaner comes, just so that the neighbours don't think we are dirty, ( my mum had a cleaner for her grand mother )what we really need help with is with the higher things , windows, high cabinets in the kitchen etc❤❤❤
Wow thats better, the fire was bugging me in the wrong place and now with the fire surround its perfect and cosy and gives you spaces to display the nice things you have bought and been given. Just drop a leaf on that table you dont need all that space everyday and can put it up when you need to. I wish you had somewhere else for the grandfather clock where you can see it when you sit down to relax. Much better Sean more traditional just as yiou loke and look great at christmas. Nice one.
Love the new layout in your sitting room Sean. Only comment would be. Will your cats jump up onto the fireplace mantel! I would definitely secure the fireplace surround to the wall.
Good morning Sean, some good moves there. The understairs arrangement and lounge all makes for more space and comfort. A winter layout sitting with fireflame warming yourself and relaxing into the evening.with a cuppa tea, can't beat it can you . Hugs 💚🌹
+ Put the sofa where the fireplace is currently and the table where the sofa is, it will be easier to place food and tea on it without turning too much. and put the fireplace back where it use to be.
If you're going to leave the fire in its new position, I'd paint the wall behind it. I might go so far as to get pressed tin ceiling tiles and make a backing board that fits into the frame of the fireplace surround. They come in different finishes so you could get some that look like copper or bronze, or you could get plain ones and paint them your preferred colour. The advantage of a backing board is that you could easily move it around if you find this layout isn't working for you.
American designer here. The sofa should be where the fire and mantle are currently. I would drop both table leaves and turn it perpendicular to the wall and remove the cloth. The wood will help to warm up your room.
You may be right, but it is Sean's home to do as he pleases. Surely, the charm of Sean's cottage is partially due to the fact that it is so un- American. Though I have lived in the US for many years I still love the warmth of the traditions I gew up with. Leat the lad alone.
We’ve got similar issues arranging what we need and want in our small house, and those needs and wants have shifted many times over the last 29 years. Our current solution has our table under the front window in the living room for the light and view.
I've always thought the grandfather clock was too near the door, personally I would move the clock to where the picture is... make it a statement piece. But you do what you want, it's your home. I love the hearth where it is, but now it does look a bit busy where the table is. We've never seen the other side of the room, is there any room there for the table?
Looks lovely and cosy. You can try it for the winter and change again in the summer. Maybe a square table would be worth looking into ( never one to shy away from a retail opportunity!) what is going on behind the camera? Is there another alcove? On a previous video you mentioned that you didn’t like mirrors so a piece of artwork over the fireplace would look nice, but remember, despite what they tell us - size does matter! and I would go BIG !! Great job anyway Sean
Love the layout of the living room. Definately need to make the fireplace a feature with big mirror (don't know how that affects filming) or picture. Lovely relaxing vlog x
That’s much better! I would tile the wall inside the mantle opening and paint the surround dark grey to go with your sofa and carpet. You could put a hearth down (stone/slate/granite/tiles etc) for the fire and mantle to the stand on and cut out the back of the mantle where it butts up to the skirting board so you don’t have to damage the skirting. The mantle can be screwed to the wall with flat picture brackets. x
Painting the fire surround grey is a great idea and the tiling and hearth. Then the carpet could be moved into the middle of the room looking a lot better.
Fire in that position makes room look more cosy and the firemantle really sets it off. I would leave it the colour it is. A nice colourful picture on wall would be lovely or a nice mirror x
The room looks really nice with the fireplace on that wall, especially in the evening with the fire going. I think a plain coloured tablecloth that picks up the colours in your rug would look better. Also, think the clock is making the room look ‘unbalanced’ in that location.
Much nicer layout Sean, nice and homely. If I'm honest I think the clock needs to go! 😊
Since you asked, and it's just my opinion, but I also believe the clock needs to be removed. Looks like it's just waiting to grab anybody that walks through the door.
Agreed. It looks bizarre there and impedes the flow through the doorway.
The clock needs to be somewhere else .❤xx
It’s much better but the clocks needs to go somewhere else. A nice mirror over the fireplace .x
😂
Feng Shui is lacking in this room. Hi Sean
Love the fireplace where it is. Could you put one leaf of your table down and put that side up against the wall give you a bit more space for the chair. 👵
Good idea
I thought the same thing , and was also curious if the spot you have the click is the only available place or is there room in the right of the the fireplace? I think the other side would look less crowded? My opinion of course! Pay no mind ☺️
Yes, that would be more spacious on that wall.
But do not put the dropped leaf against the wall because you have got to move the table every time you need to put the leaf back up
Totally agree -my thoughts entirely- if needed table could always be bought out again and drop leaf side put up - this is the idea behind a drop leaf table -new layout much better 😉 👍 so cosy
Think the room looks so much better with the fire place in the new position, very cosy. A nice focal point when you're sitting on the couch.
Maybe moving the grandfather clock to the area near the camera. Just don’t know if that’s a wall. Also, paint a darker background behind the electric stove and pull the rug from under the mantle and stove so it’s in front of the stove not under it.
A rug under the table defines that space as well.
I think you room looks lovely like that 😊
So do I. Looks so much better. You are doing so well Sean.
😂😂
Hi Sean, room looks much better but the clock needs a new place to call home as it looks out of place stuck on the end there.
Yes...maybe a table runner instead of a full table cloth.
Great idea.
I was ginna say exactly the same 👌
Yup, tablecloth does not go.
Yes a nice runner wine tablecloth and drop a leaf on the table. It would warm the room up .
Moving the couch towards the camera a foot or so would relieve the congestion at the kitchen door. Theclock needs to bevrelocated also.
Looks Cosy, but can you move the clock to the other side of the fireplace? To me, that wall is too cluttered. But I love the fireplace placement, and a nice large mirror or painting would look lovely.
Hi Sean
I like what you’ve done with the fireplace and mantelpiece I think the fire surround and mantelpiece need painting but also maybe stand the electric burner on a couple of narrow pieces of slate rather than the carpet now it’s in a fireplace. Welsh slate of course !
You beat me to it. I was just going to say something similar.😊
Slate hearth defo
Black mantel would look fabulous!
My 2 cents: make it a LARGE work of art over the mantel, placed not too high, to fill that negative space, and get a tablecloth which picks up some of the colors in your Persian rug, to balance everything (or chuck the cloth and replace with a runner, placemats or a thick clear plastic protector film, cut to tabletop size, to show off the table) Lastly, add extra artwork to the wall over the table, again to balance and fill that space - make it a wee bit Victorian eh? It will look great between your clock and secretary.
Cheers from Montreal 😉❤

It’s good to move things around sometimes :) Haven’t read all the comments but I was told years ago that a grandfather clock shouldn’t go on a wall with a door due to the vibration. No idea where it would go instead though 😂
Better layout shaun what about moving the clock perhaps
I like the new arrangement a lot. A colourful picture above the fire would be so nice. I agree with others about dropping a leaf on the table and changing the table cloth. I like the surround the colour that it is with the two kitties on the top.

That's the attitude to have, jpaulrice!
Xx
Your new arrangement feels very cozy. The light just makes it...you got a winner upgrade there.
Sorry, you don't want to hear this, but your clock is in the wrong place next to the door. I would place it in the alcove & move the bureau.
It's possible that he put it there so as not to disturb his neighbours by putting it on one of the 'shared' walls.
I love the new layout. Could you move your clock to the other side of the table and move the table closer to the door? Probably not enough room.
You need a burgundy coloured table cloth and a couple things on the wall and a cozy table lamp, that should do it
Lovely and cosy , I would try the cabinet on the wall . The clock on a slant in corner of the alcove . Wine tablecloth .
Like others have said a mirror or large picture above the fireplace and some fairy lights across the top of the fire surround would look nice, it’s a definite improvement but I’d try and find a new place for the clock and maybe a smaller table or drop the leaves.
Lovely. Put the clock in a different room. Do you have a hall?

Veterinary secrets channel, Dr Andrew Jones shows you how to do a natural flea repellent. 😊
I prefer the new layout, it looks more cosy too. Great idea
I love the fireplace where you've got it now. I bought a black slate hearth from Amazon for mine and it makes a huge difference to the look.
Fire is better in that position. Lovely. Could you not move grandfather clock, and just have table and bureau in corner. A large canvas, or large clock would look great above fireplace. ❤ light on fireplace looks cosy.
The clock has to move
Looks a lot better, I would fold a leaf of the table down and put the flat edge agains the wall 😊
Looks a lot more homely
Ohh that looks nice, what a lovely cosy room, would be nice with some new over stuffed cushions on the settee in a nice red to match the rug. Enjoy.x
I think it looks much cosier and balanced with the fireplace as a good focal point. The clock where it is is a bit overpowering though.
The tablecloth spoils the room, they are out of date now.
@@valiantval6539 🤣
Love the new fireplace. Definitely makes a nice focul point for the room and adds to the cosiness of it. I'm sure you won't like this but you did ask what we thought :). Looks so homely love this arrangement well done.
The new layout is very cozy. Perhaps changed the tablecloth to a plain one (no pattern) and see if you think it looks less busy at the one end.

I love the new layout 😊👍
I know you said you wouldn't but if it was my room I'd relocate the clock to give you more room around the table.
I will shut up now 😄
I like it Sean, and has already been mentioned maybe put the table at a right-angle to the wall with a leaf down so it's flush.
Yes I like the new layout. I think it looks more cosy for winter.
It looks really homely and cosy . The only thing is the beautiful clock seems in the way and out of place but otherwise it looks homely . And what you said about the electric cable I didn't realise you have to have a different one because mine has been plugged into an extension lead for many years .

Now you need a 70 inch television to go over the fireplace. 😂
Yes drop down one leaf of table and a solid color tablecloth. Love the new look sooo cozy.
The room looks so cosy and warm now and the fire surround sets of your fire beautiful
Liking the new layout it looks much better x
Looks lovely Sean and I agree with the light, it gives a very nice focal point to the room.
I think the room looks so much better! Bootiful!
I love the new layout, the mantel with the cats and fireplace is very pretty.
Love the new layout, it looks a lot more homely. At the end of the day as long as you feel comfortable that’s all that matters 😊
The clock is the problem. You cannot move it on your own. Pls put it in entrance x
This is crazy. I don't know what I'm doing watching some guy live out his life on you tube but I have to confess, I do enjoy it. Sean, you do such a good job.

Much better way u organised room also either a mirror or bigger picture over fireplace would finish it off nicely
Nice one.
The room seems to have a better flow this way, I like it.
Maybe it would be even better if the table was a wee bit smaller.
Yes!!
Been wanting you to change your room round for ages
Looks great
I do like a change every 6 months.
Yes i agree it looks better but tabke is busy with the cloth
Love the new layout in your sitting room Sean. Only comment would be. Will your cats jump up onto the fireplace mantel! I would definitely secure the fireplace surround to the wall.
love the new layout looks alot better .
Good morning Sean, some good moves there. The understairs arrangement and lounge all makes for more space and comfort. A winter layout sitting with fireflame warming yourself and relaxing into the evening.with a cuppa tea, can't beat it can you . Hugs 💚🌹
“ ..you do just like to stand there and not give a hand!!!”
🤣🤣🤣Love it !!
Looks good 😊 very cosy ☺️🙏🥰 a nice wee lamp 🪔 to give extra warmth
Room looks so much more cosy Shaun and come Christmas that hearth will look amazing with the holly and tinsel on ❤

Put the sofa where the fireplace is currently and the table where the sofa is, it will be easier to place food and tea on it without turning too much. and put the fireplace back where it use to be.
@@sjordan7085 Sean asked for everyone’s opinion on the room. He wanted ideas so it’s not people being critical of him at all.
The sofa is where it is because of where the television is and ariel point.
Very homely Sean , good job. That fire , lovely as it is , would cost a fortune to
run here in NZ! . Our electricity is expensive.

We’ve got similar issues arranging what we need and want in our small house, and those needs and wants have shifted many times over the last 29 years. Our current solution has our table under the front window in the living room for the light and view.
Fireplace looks so much better now you moved it very cosy ..your room is so nice a big well done ❤
It looks lovely with the fire on that wall. Good move.
The electric fire on the mantlepiece makes more sense, beautiful, but now too much furniture on the back wall.
Yes a mirror that's a good idea, I really like the fireplace it makes it look really homely and cosy 😊
I've always thought the grandfather clock was too near the door, personally I would move the clock to where the picture is... make it a statement piece. But you do what you want, it's your home. I love the hearth where it is, but now it does look a bit busy where the table is. We've never seen the other side of the room, is there any room there for the table?
It looks much better and a nice picture above the fire of the Welsh valleys would look great
The fire place and surrounded look lovely 😊
@@tinamcloughlin2710 Thanks! 😃
Looks much better than before ,I would use the other room as a dinning room then you would have room for a comfortable armchair
Fire in that position makes room look more cosy and the firemantle really sets it off. I would leave it the colour it is. A nice colourful picture on wall would be lovely or a nice mirror x
I really like the new layout Sean, very cosy and warming, all set for the Winter x
Hi Sean, try a dark charcoal grey for the fireplace surround and black behind the electric fire. Your knick knacks look great.
Aaaah that looks great Sean. But if you could manage to drop one leaf on the table it would give you more space. It looks so much better though. 😊
