I’m picking the Sony just because it has an actual knob, keeping it old school
Probably main reason it’s a great seller. Plus looks almost oem and not cheap like the other
I am Going with the Sony unit. The front knob and front USB jack are winners for my driving style and needs. Thanks for the nice video.
Sony seems very easy to use and I love the knob because it’s a hassle to touch over and over again on touchscreen. Super simple and looks a lot better in my opinion.
it will be nice if the videos is a little bit darker... I still see the radios a little

Nice review. Being a newbie on Multimedia Car Radio I have some questions...
1) You didn't speak about Phone Calls. Can I use CarPlay to speak with somebody on both? Do they both have an integrated mic and/or cable for external mic? Do these have sound attenuation?
2) What if I am using the USB with audio/video and I get a phone call? If CarPlay is not working will I be able to answer the phone through the car radio?
3) No tests on video playback. Quality? Formats supported?
4) How does CarPlay go along with the rest... For example, I put my rear gear and the rear camera goes on... Will it stop music playing or my phone all on CarPlay? Or is it completely transparent? is the switch to/from fast?
5) No test on the Pioneer DVD/CD. Is it good? Can I use DVD to record other video formats as Mp4, Divx, etc... or audio in MP£ etc...? I mean.. can I use the DVD instead of the USB to play multimedia content (not just standard CDs or DVDs) so I don't need to unplug the USB (possibly with my iPhone) every time?
6) In an answer down here you speak about MIRRORING. Isn't mirroring BETTER than CarPlay? I mean.. If the screen becomes exactly (does it) like my phone I can do much more things correct? I can go on the web, view videos, etc... Can you suggest a similar radio that has mirroring?

Let’s take a look at some of these questions,
1) if not using CarPlay, phone calls and made an received via bluetooth. If on CarPlay the calls are transferred through that. In both cases, the supplied external microphone will be used to pick up your voice.
2) Yes. If not on CarPlay, doesn’t matter what you’re doing, bluetooth will take over and screen will show you who is calling, you can decide to answer or reject the call.
3) these are just basic LCD screens, the resolution isn’t fantastic but the video quality is good. Playback files are most common ones (MPEG4, XVID, AVC, WMV, MKV etc). No point recording video playback as the camera we were using wasn’t the best (you can see the quality here) our new camera is much better and moving forward we can look at things like that.
4) that’s a setting. You can choose how this works - mute on reverse or not.
The reverse image (when wired correctly) will take over the screen regardless of what you’re using, to show the rear image.
5) yes. As stated before, the playback files are compatible with USB and DVD playback.
6) mirroring is better in the sense that you can use more features as you stated. IPhone mirroring needs to be controlled from the device itself, so you’re eliminating the “hands free” experience. CarPlay is smooth and the apps are designed to work on a third party screen, in my opinion that is better.
Mirroring is great but for iPhone it’s dangerous and hard to use.
SOME mirroring units that work with android, allow the screen to control the phone. You can still have a hands free experience with mirroring in this case. You need an android device and a mirroring unit.

Great review on both stereos. Can you play videos from the TH-cam app on the Sony?
Kid Wikid No unfortunately TH-cam and Netflix are not available with CarPlay - not supported.
You’ll need a unit that can do Mirroring - or a unit with a HDMI input.
Then you can mirror your device and use any app you would like.
If your iPhone is jail broken then you can download CarBridge for like $5 and play TH-cam on your unit. Pretty much let’s you use any app on your phone on the unit. Just be safe and pay attention to the road.
If you put a video wire to hdmi you can mirror your screen onto backup camera and run audio through the Bluetooth and your all set to mirror with audio

Hi I have recently bought this Sony xav 1000 can I play video in this touch screen and when iam connecting the with usb to one plus Nord it is showing as usb Device is not supported
I had Sony replacing my old TEAC unit yesterday and I am quite pleased with it speed and features overall, except for its radio and RDS (RBDS) functions, or I should say the lack thereof. The radio displays the frequency larger than the station name and memorizes the stations by their frequencies but does not display the station names, and traffic announcements cannot be turned on/off and no separate announcement volume. One last issue, it doesn't track the frequencies of the station I am listening to as I drive on the highway. Since I paid double for the Sony compared to the Teac and the latter even has DVD, this is a huge disappointment!
PS. The sounds from the Sony is impressive, by the way.
