I bought one of these today for some solid reasons imo:
1. Affordable
2. Sony is premium quality imo.
3. Everything about it's build and gadgets it comes with make it well worth it.
The CarPlay seems laggy in the video is it slow ?
Is this better bang for the buck or Boss be9acp with floating screen? Both are similarly priced at $299, the be9acp has 9 inch floating screen.
The boss unit is not half bad for the money and you get a much larger screen.
Boss doesn't have screen mirroring
JVC/Kenwood both have. 6.8 for $199
Are these new Sonys faster than the previous model XAV-1000? I like the USB port on front of the radio and a knob. Just thinking it might be outdated versus this model you reviewed.
I've had both the xav1000, xav3000 & xav3200.
Only reason I like the 1000 is because of the volume knob (very handy)
Aside from that, 3000&3200 wins every other day with carplay for apple AND android. Looks a lot cleaner in the console too

@@prem18rs-59 using my phone as hotspot. 😉 and also Real Guage is my Favorite! But you need a Bluetooth OBD to read engine real time.

Not sure if this unit has Wi-Fi. You might need to do a little shopping but they are out there. I got mine on Amazon. They are called android stereo headunits. Basically a tablet for your car. Hope this helps

It’s not wireless. You need to have your phone connected.
Thank you for this great review summary! I just bought a 3250 model at BB. Was looking for a 1000, but they had an “open box” 3250 on the shelf, so I grabbed it for a little less. I’m still on my old school stock radio, so I appreciate your review very much as I venture into the 20th century (somewhat).
I’m planning to get it from BB. What’s your experience with 3250 so far ? Anything you don’t like ?
@@A.L.T.A.F unfortunately, I haven’t been able to install it. After a couple of attempts, I’ve concluded I need to take it back to BB in a couple of weeks (free install on as part of the purchase).
Just bought the 3250 from BB and had it installed in my Jeep this afternoon. The free installation is a big plus! So far LOVE this unit. It replaced my Boss GPS Nav head unit. Love the Sony and CarPlay GPS nav so much better!!! It’s smooth, responsive, and darn fast! Haven’t even touched all of the features yet. But definitely a huge upgrade!

Responsive as in it has good touch input detection
How would you compare this radio to the Sony XAV-AX5600?
I have the 5600 and I think the main difference is 2 USB ports and a hdmi port also and capacitive touch screen so it's like glass...Other than that, they look identical
I'm having issues using a regular USB. After 3 seconds into a song the unit buzzes really loud and cuts off. Also, apple play and GPS is spotty...goes in and out.

Are the same radios besides Sirius and the warranty?
I believe also the mirror link on the 3200 which the 150 does not have. As well as the av input, so to be able to watch videos on your head unit via phone display.
The constant beginner screen was driving me crazy, and I couldn't find the SETTINGS icon - you showed both of those in about 4 seconds - when I stop laughing, I will go out in the garage and finish setting this thing up. Thanks for the help - video was great!

It’s the same unit just different line of Distribution so they give it a different model number.

What is responsive screen? Its either resistive or capacitive. Capacitive is glass and whats on cellphones.

Yeah the first batch was $299 and then Sony raised the price to $349…..
I picked one up luckly from Crutchfield, but for $348. Even Sony's website right now they say it is $349.99. Good luck to you.

I recently got a steal on a really nice 2006 M.Y. vehicle for a daily. I don't at all mind rolling around in an old car except I really like having modern infotainment and sound. I think I've narrowed my search down to this unit to replace the stock radio. I didn't want to spend a ton since the vehicle is just a daily workhorse, but I also didn't want junk that may glitch out on me in short order. This, plus a compact hide-a-way sub (considering the JBL Micro one) and debating replacing the stock door speakers (I may have to take off the door panels anyway to diagnose a door ajar sensor issue) and I think I'll be golden.
I'm in the same boat actually with my 2007 Ridgeline. It already HAS a stereo upgrade (pioneer DVD unit circa 2010 naturally) but I want Android auto, and two of the upgraded speakers are blown anyways.
My big conundrum is do I go with this cheaper unit since it's an older vehicle - or spring for the wireless android auto version instead? I love the idea of wireless but it may push my stereo budget too high for an older vehicle. I may go with this cheaper unit. I can always add wireless Android auto via a dingle later anyways.
I bought the XAV-5000 a year ago and I have constant problems. My Apple car play and android auto no longer work and the system freezes on startup from time to time.
Update the software.

Just saw this!! Capacitive touchscreen and dual usb on the 5000 and resistive and single usb on the 3500… I think that’s it … the 5000 was designed years ago 2018 I believe and the 3200 is recent.

So this is the one I got and I added the SiriusXM tuner option, but I’m trying to figure out where the radio ID is to get SiriusXM because it’s SiriusXM ready and the tuner is install but only the commercial channel works and then when I try to call into SiriusXM, they ask for the radio ID and then when I give it to them, they said the invalid radio ID so I don’t understand

Im not getting the import or plus icon when i plug in usb for adding a new wall paper ..they are jpeg format and under the size requirements....anybodys help would appreciated
If you're model is US/CA that is not an available feature. I just purchased this unit and found out the hard way. It is only avail on the EU version to add the wallpaper

Thank you for a great review. Only issue I do not like is that my steering wheel controls do not work for the phone so I have to use the interface instead
You have to buy a swc (steering wheel control) adapter I have a VW Jetta with steering wheel control and it works great but for my vehicle that was another 50-60 dollars 🤷🏾♂️

The 3250 is literally the exact same radio just the version from Europe. And actually I think it has less features cause I don’t think it has back up camera. Might be wrong on that tho.

Great question I believe it’s 2 volts although it doesn’t really state it. So most standard radios are 2 volt or slightly less

@@MatchaLeaves you can just buy a rca signal booster I got one from audiopipe and all my amps sounds great and hit hard
@@MatchaLeaves you don't need more than 2v. high voltage rca out doesn't give you an real benefit on most amps. there are a few amps that absolutely require more input voltage to achieve proper power due to how the amp was design aka poorly designed. I have tested this myself. I had a JVC headunit with 5v RCA and then my Pioneer with 2v RCA and the measured output at the speakers using voltmeter (measuring amps) was exactly the same. BOTH times I re-tuned the entire system in order to properly match the amp to the headunit to ensure no clipping output. The difference is using less gain on a 5v RCA system and using more gain on a 2v RCA system.... either way your final output will be exactly the same. Anyone saying otherwise doesn't know shit about car audio or power in general. Its as bad as these companies running speaker wire to the doors when you can literally use the factory harness. I run 150w through a 2015 mitsubishi mirage which has super tiny factory wiring and measuring amp's at the amp output vs at the speaker termination is very close to being exactly the same. it was like .08 difference which isn't audible to the human ear. amps times volts equals watts. a .08 difference is insignificant. yet most installers will try to sell you 12 or 14 awg wire runs to each door because the "install fee" gives them higher profits for basically easy work. but for consumers, its a waste of money, you can spend that extra install fee on better speakers or a better amp.
I just installed it and the anti glare screen is driving me nuts. It makes the screen hard to see in the sun light and the screen looks washed up. Anyone know how to remove the anti glare crap. I really dont want to return it

They have to keep the cost down so if you want capacitive go with the. AX-AV5500…. But it’s $150 more…….

Nice video, but I'm a little confused. You said this was a "responsive" touch screen, not a "resistive" touchscreen. Does responsive mean capacitive? If responsive = capacitive, then it is not cheaper but more expensive. Am I missing something?

I’ve been searching and searching and searching for a car stereo like this but with a volume knob. And I just can’t seem to find one at this price point. I don’t know if I should just give up and buy one without it.
Not a lot out there with Carplay and android auto with a knob… does your car have steering wheel buttons and if so do you use them for volume…??
@@BreakersStereo actually it does, but I usually reach for the head unit. My other vehicle is a truck with the knob so my instinct is to always reach for it. I just love how fast it is to lower the volume. Guess I could check out the steering wheel control and see how fast it goes up and down. There’s a the Sony 6.2 with the knob but it doesn’t have android that I’m thinking of getting at best cry ( lol that’s what my hubby calls it) for 299

I head there is a wire that connects to the handbrake or park brake.. Which enables video playback... You can simply ground this wire to allow playback in motion....
