I have been known to get a headache due to going long distance with loud pipes and music so I keep ear plugs. Also I have a compact chair, and mosquito spray. I think the best thing I purchased recently was a waterproof duffle bag that I strap to the passenger seat. I can get a weeks worth of clothes inside so I can save my tour pak space for valuables and stuff I need to get to quickly.
Rain gear RainX Soft side cooler (gas station water is expensive) Advil Extra clothes, socks Batteries Phone chargers Headset chargers Soft cloths for cleaning Rode side assistance Extra gloves Protein bars Flashlights
Honorable mentions that you need to carry: 1)Cleaning rags - nothing worse than spilling gas on your tank. 2) shammy - for cleaning water off after rain 3) COVID mask - yes, there are still some places out there that won't let you in their establishment without one. 4) head mounted flashlight - breakdowns don't just happen during the day, and you need your hands free to use tools
I keep a tire patch kit, air pump, tools, riding jacket, spare pair of gloves, a bottle of water and arm sleeves and a neck gaiter. Haven’t done any long trips but have one coming up next month and will put my tour pack on for that.
Just came back from Daytona, and it was raining from middle of Georgia to Atlanta. But because i listen to the words of the wise and purchased the rain suit you suggest, my wife and i stayed dry and warm and enjoy our journey back home. Thank you for these videos. Looking forward to more of your content and inspiration. 100
Video was fire, hope you have a meet and greet for us newbies one day. Maybe a few sandwiches and ice tea or few beers at one of the parks or something………..
Excellent video and advice . My friends and I took a 4 day road trip last wk from SC to WV. And, when we got into VA the skies opened up on us. It was pouring buckets . We had rain gear on but it was raining so hard and our rain gear was black in color with reflective striping we could not see each other in our staggered formation on the highway. So we stopped at a rest area on the highway to let the rain slow down. We determined if we couldn't see each other, then cars or trucks could not see us either. So we stopped at the closest Lowe's and bought some high reflective construction vest and it worked perfectly. We could see each other for some distance. For $20 it was worth the investment. Instead of buying all new rain gear.
Good tips👊 couple humble suggestions for long riders: lubricating eye drops, liquid IV packets, a gator you can get wet and wear as a cooler around your neck, ear plugs for really long rides as the constant noise causes fatigue and fatigue causes mistakes … see ya on the trail👊
I keep a tool kit, rain gear , zip ties , jb weld , a portable charger with solar power on it , Chem lights. I’m a little limited on space due to riding a sporty everywhere but these are the things I carry every time. On long distance , I’ll carry a quart of oil and a gas jug
New subscriber, really enjoy your videos. I also keep a small flashlight, a couple of spare bulbs for the tail light, and a small soft cooler ( six pack size) for cold water. Another good thing to have is a pack of baby wipes. Good for freshening up at a stop, and other uses as well. Safe travels. 👍👍
I always say the headlight is 1 of the 1st things to go on any bike. The stock bulbs just don't have the brightness we need out here on these mountain backroads.
Along with the air pump, you should have a tire repair kit. You could plug up your own flat in the middle of nowhere and ride it to the next shop instead of waiting hours for a tow.
This is great advise but I also keep sunscreen, travel size toilet paper, self wipes, Clorox wipes "because the bathroom can be pretty gross" , water , phone charger cables and blocks, oil with paper travel funnel, oil rag. See you on the road!
I'm ready. So ready, well. No, if I was really ready I would have time and money for the trip. Always had plenty of ways, it's the means I lack. I'm working hard to get there. Getting close. Lord willing I will get my time on the road. 🛣️.
I carry a 1.5 liter fuel bottle in my saddle bag. I don't do super long hauls yet since I'm still on my Honda Shadow (don't hate me...lol...I'm looking at a Triumph Thunderbird Commander 1700 right now) and I don't have a fuel gauge. I know I can comfortably do about 200 miles, but just in case I can't find gas...or a fellow rider runs out on the side of the road, I have enough spare gas to help get me or somebody else home. Great tips, and rain gear is no joke. I got absolutely soaked a couple weeks ago trying to skirt around a pop up shower...and didn't make it...lol.
I made that mistake with Frog Togg's. That was a huge mess. Best thing I've learned to carry is a roll of large trashbags. Easy water resistant and people leave trash everywhere across the USA. Multiple pairs of gloves is a good idea, as well. Having sunburnt hands is a pain, so having thin, thick, and waterproof gloves is a huge game changer. Extra straps or bungee's is a good idea as well. Tools and service manual shouldn't stay home. And a physical road map. Preferably laminated. Phones lose service or battery, but a map is always available.
Prepping for my iron butt on the sportster with no bags. Planning on packing a sissybar bag with my rain gear, toolkit, tire patch kit, oil/primary fluid, emergancy gas can, first aid kit, flares, and snacks.
@@JustGKue Thank you. I will. I have a few routes planned out and plan to do the simplest route in a car first to spy the road and traffic conditions. Might try to convince a friend to do it with me for added safety. We shall see. Looking to get my own camera before so I can share the experience. ;-)
I'm late! But a couple different sets of gloves and glove covers- like a rain suit for your hands. 'Waterproof' leather gloves still soak up the rain and take forever to dry out. My experience anyway. Peace to all
So true. Great video. One thing you didnt mention but you do have one your bike is a back rest. I have been using one for the last 5 years or so and man o man it is a game changer. Really helps with fatigue. Keep on rollin keep safe ✌️
Good tips and suggestions for loan distance riding in my brother Especially the weather app I just downloaded on my phone I use it when I'm riding in my truck until I get my Harley Davidson Road Glide Peace
Have you ever been to Laughlin River Run. . In Laughlin Nevada. . I used to live across the river from it. . Every April they have tons of bikes and folks show up. . I loved going to it. . Lasts a week or 6 days. . It's the spot that had that huge brawl at Harrah's casino. . I like your videos . . Good stuff. .
I learned a valuable lesson on one of my first long trips that it is highly beneficial to carry with you an extra shifter set! The heal/toe shifter along with the rod.
I ride all year around even up here in northeast Ohio, warm gear is definitely a plus. A few things I always keep in my pack is sun block, IB profuren and usually a kickstand plate
Great advice! Every time I get smacked in the visor by a huge bug or bee while riding I’m reminded why I wear a full face helmet. I added a tire pressure gauge to my kit🌟🙏🏽🌟
Another One…..as usual, awesome job on this video. Excellent tips. I’m going to start taking your advice and take those longer rides by myself. You’re right, it’s hard to get other people to ride with you sometimes. None of my riding friends even on a Heated suit other than me. I ride all the way up until the first salt of the roads and then I put my bike away until early spring. That means I’m only not riding for about two months in my area. I love all of your content. Sometimes when I’m working on my computer it’s on in the background and I just binge watch your videos. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to the next one.
Great video bro. Me and my daughter was just getting ready to shoot a video like this next week lol . Awesome job because I just got new rain gear and heated gear. Great minds think alike. Have a blessed one ☝🏾
Great video, thanks for the tips. Myself and the wife picked up a pair of used Sportsters and are up to an Hour out and back rides. Always looking for the pro tips and if we stick to riding, I am sure a bike upgrade is in our futures ! Whoot Whoot

I feel ya on the helmet deal, modular all the way. I have a half lid but I feel safer with modular even though it be hot sometimes then face up with my safety glasses on and ride out. Great video 👍🏽
Bro these tips are on point! There are lots of “tip” videos but these tips are legit. Nice work man. The only things I would add if I was traveling cross country is a bike cover, bike lock and a kyptonite cable to lock my quick disconnect trunk.

Did my cross county trip in 2017...Man..Spare pair of boots is key for inclement weather. Make sure you check your helmet screws throughout your trip if you have a harley modular helmet. My helmet broke in texas and I had to buy another helmet. I didnt budget for that LOL.
What's up G Kue, I'm a new Rider & new to your TH-cam Channel. This was good info on the things you need when traveling on your bike. This will definitely get me prepared for a long trip in the future.
Aaaaand, we're back to being able to "afford". Even tho I haven't done any trips like you, I still get caught in the rain from time to time. I'll ride in anything but snow and ice. I always carry rain gear. Have helmets from, peanut-full face, depending on the time of year. Curious, does your full face protect your neck? Waterproofing all leather can't hurt. Have tools. Gum. Drinks. Bungees. Zip ties. I have limited storage tho.
It's good to have rain gear an air pump but me personally I make sure I have all that but I also make sure I have protection and not talkin about condoms lol.. in my opinion it's part of the gear that helps get you home safe and sound....
I keep the majority of what you have in addition to a small jump pack for battery and puncture seal kit. I like the tips especially pin or peen lock shield. I been using the spray which dose not last long. Great video and keep doing what you do.
Thank you for the tips! I’m planning my first rally in Rocky Point Mexico and this helps tremendously! I wear a helmet and bought a new face shield. Today I was so excited to open my box of goodies from Dennis Kirk! Got my rain suit, my hooker, and an tire inflator. But what do you recommend to hold a cell phone?? I have a 2017 HD Sportster 1200t super low.

Reda 1 gallon gas can, chaps, air compressor, 2-3 sets of glasses, bungee cords. Those are a few things that come to mind. Great content bro!!

I keep wipes as well! 😁
Highway pegs, comfortable seat, comfortable grips, taller windscreen better handlebars and good suspention.
People definitely forget about the windscreen!

I got to tell, you make REALLY great videos. You take the time to explain what your talking about. BRAVO!
Thank you so much!
Suggestion: Before your next distance ride do a what's in my bags video
I shall!
This is great advise but I also keep sunscreen, travel size toilet paper, self wipes, Clorox wipes "because the bathroom can be pretty gross" , water , phone charger cables and blocks, oil with paper travel funnel, oil rag. See you on the road!

Ignition switch housing alignment tool (handlebar lock problems)

Great video for those just starting their long distance journey and a great reminder for those that have been riding for a while. 👍🏾✌🏾✌🏾
I'm always learning myself. There are times we forget things.
All good advice. For rain gear, waterproof gloves also. Amen about full face helmet! Not just for protection from flying objects but rain also.
Forgot about the gloves! But that rain can be brutal on your face man!
🤔aight taking notes just got me stratoliner not to long ago and Im definitely learning alot .

I have a 2017 HD Sportster 1200t super low.
You know I'm a fan of ruffling feathers. 😂
Yes you are
Great informative video!! One question....what hotel did you stay in St. Louis?? Thank you!!
Um not sure I can get it to you tho.
THANKS AGAIN
No problem!
Keep a roll of quarters..
In case you need to get air at a station
Got a air pump you don't need quarters 😁
