I know, right?! We haven’t heard back yet from his companion about what his dad was wearing the night he was born. If he isn’t the one in the video, at least we know that they were probably in the nursery together at some point during the two-day hospital stay. 😁

The full MTC experience would have been so awesome for him. I’m a little selfish, though, because the home MTC experience has been awesome for our family.

Lovely to see the journey leading towards the next chapter of Brevin's life. Also incredible to hear about the coincidences with Brevin's companion! Perhaps a sign of incredible things to come! : )
He will be very welcome here in Brazil, I'm sure he will have a lot of new experiences. Hopefully by them Covid won't be a big issue here anymore. Love from Brazil!!
Brevin has officially been set-apart as a missionary. That means there has been a meeting with his church leader (the stake president) where a special prayer was offered designating him to the work. As such, he is expected to live by the rules of mission conduct that are outlined by the church. One of those rules is to always be with your assigned mission companion. The only times missionaries should be separated from their assigned companion are when they are in an interview with the mission president, on a companion exchange, or in the bathroom. There are several reasons for that. The missionary handbook explains: “Preaching the gospel two by two is the pattern established by the Lord. The testimonies of two companions support each other in proclaiming the truth and bearing witness of it. Companions support each other in other phases of their work. They help each other learn and grow. They strengthen each other in times of difficulty. They can provide protection from physical danger, false charges, and temptation.” Of course, with the pandemic creating the unusual circumstance of missionary training at home, we were advised that any member of the family can act as a companion for Brevin. We just make sure that someone is always with him.
I think since Brevin took over Ella's room....He should be sharing His bedroom with Garrett. JK I know how much Ella and Garrett Love each other and play together the most anyway! Have a Great weekend everyone.
Having Garrett and Ella share a room has really tested their relationship 😂. They will probably both be so relieved when they can go back to having their own space.
Thank you so much for sharing what Brevins training day is like. I was wondering what all went into his training. Way to go Spencer for getting up SO early to help your big brother out. You will not regret losing this sleep. It is some great bonding time that you will look back upon and be great full that you did it. Way to go Ella for giving up your room for Brevin.
Because Brevin spends most of his day in the room and Spencer spends most of his evenings at work, it really is the best time for them to be together and get some quality visiting in before Brevin leaves.
I know this video is mainly about brevin but I gotta praise Ella and Garrett for being so cooperative with sharing a room. Just curious why isn’t brevin doing his mission work in his own bedroom? If me and my brother had to share a room or even a hotel bed there would be serious issues lol 😂
We will eventually be moving Garrett to Brevin’s room and Ella will take over Garrett’s. Since we were going to be converting Ella’s room to an office anyway, we got a jumpstart on it. What we have discovered is that it has made it very challenging to get Garrett and Ella to bed because they play (and sometimes fight) with each other being in the same room.
I live in Rio. I hope Brevin has a good time in Brazil! He will have to go to the carnival if he is there next year! Be careful of people selling you drugs because you are white/american! Covid is also very bad now so make sure you have vaccinacion, stay 2m away , wear mask, wash and stay outside. God bless you have a great time freund!
Thank you! He had to have a whole series of vaccinations in preparation for coming to Brazil to keep himself and others protected. Safety measures are being taken so we don’t know when he will be able to come to Brazil, but he is hoping it will be soon.
Hi Brevin,if you are at home almost all day for Missionary Training Do you have to be dressed up the whole time and is this considered part of your training.Seems like to me you would get to wear casual clothing when taking training at the house all day.Is this your choice or churchs choice and once you are on the mission field do you remain dressed up.Amazing what your mom said about your partner going with you was born on same day just in another state.Almost as if God planned it that away.My prayers are with you and you will do just fine and perhaps choose to become a career missionary or pastor of a church wherever God may lead you.Thanks.Willard
Now that Brevin is officially a missionary, he follows the guidelines and rules for conduct that are outlined in the missionary handbook, including the standards for clothing. If circumstances were normal, he’d be wearing those clothes anyway, so we were encouraged to help him keep the experience as close to what it would have been if he were able to attend in person. He is able to wear comfortable clothes on his preparation day (P-day). Once a week, missionaries have a day where they can do chores and laundry, communicate with family, respond to personal mail/email, and even do sightseeing in their area (COVID permitting, of course).
No. Serving a mission is a choice. I do believe that, to a certain degree, some youth in the church feel that there are social pressures or expectations to serve. I’ll admit I have assumed that my children would want to have the experience of a mission, and so I’ve planned accordingly to support that decision. However, if they felt like that was not something they wanted to do, I would also support that decision as well.
@@WhatAreWeDoing thank you 😊so it’s their choice but sometimes feel social pressure to go on a mission even if they feel it’s their path. That’s hard. Can I ask who pays for it? You guys or the church? Thanks for answering
The Book of Mormon is a compliment to the Bible. The Bible is a record of God's people in the old world. The Book of Mormon is a record of God's people in the Americas and how they traveled there before the birth of Christ and their lives before and after Christ's birth. The Book of Mormon also provides a record of when Christ visited the Americas after his death and resurrection. God knew it was important to have a record from all of His children no matter if they were in the old world or in the Americas.
That’s an interesting point that you make. I personally look at The Book of Mormon as additional information to supplement the Bible and bring clarification to it’s teachings-not because God left something out, but because humans and history have “perverted” it’s teachings (as the scriptures you referenced would indicate). The history and translation of the Bible is relatively unclear. It’s origins may have been orally transmitted for hundreds of years before it was formally recorded. Even then, the transcripts have been modified and translated numerous times in attempts to make the text publicly available. Books from the Bible have also been omitted. In contrast, The Book of Mormon was a translation of records kept on metal plates (written in reformed Egyptian). Those records were an abridgment of the history of a different group of people or “other sheep” (John 10:16). The Book of Mormon was never meant to replace the Bible, but to validate it. And while both the Bible and Book of Mormon are incredible sources we can turn to to learn of God and Jesus Christ, It is my own belief that my relationship with them is personal-living and growing. That relationship is not maintained on studying scriptures alone, but through personal revelation gained through study, prayer, and meditation.

I agree! They don’t get much time to see each other during the day due to Brevin’s MTC schedule and Spencer’s work schedule.
I do not believe the way that that the LDS does but I do support Bervin and wish him well with his learning and travels.
