- It's departure day for Brevin. He packs his bags and travels with family to the airport to catch his flight to Boston, Massachusetts. The family says "goodbye" one last time before he goes through security to board the airplane, embarking on a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Hi! I live in southern NH and we used to be a part of the Boston, Massachusetts Mission! My best advice for someone about to experience New England culture is to be super friendly and outgoing. Most of us are closed off and you will have to get that outer wall down before people are willing to open their hearts. Once you get to know us, we are really friendly and supportive of the missionaries serving here. He will do awesome!
He is loving it there in Massachusetts. He is currently living in Marlborough.

I know that brevin will do great on his mission. I wish him the very best of luck on his mission. I know that he will do fine in learning the language that he has been working on for the past weeks. He will have more help out on the mission for learning the language.
I know he really wants to learn the language. He will have opportunities in Boston as there are many there who speak Portuguese.

Omg.. I feel the sadness. My son (my baby) just graduated high school joining the marines. I am dreading the day I send him off to boot camp. To be honest I'm not sure I can watch the entire video. I feel the tears coming. It hits out of nowhere.
I admire you so much for raising a child who is dedicated to our country and the defense of our constitution. Bless you both for that service!

No, they didn’t see each other before he left. Since she’s not at the same school, they haven’t seen each other for quite some time.

I'm happy for Brevin and you guys but I just don't understand why you would do a thing like that. I'm a very simple person and I respect everyone just as they are and the decisions they make. It's just extremely hard for me to understand why you choose to waste 2 years of your life like that (to me it is). I apologize if I sound disrespectful. I just don't understand it. I know you have a big community in Utah but what do you gain by going on a mission? It's just interesting to me since we're so far apart culturally. Again, I hope I don't hurt anyone with this comment. I've been watching you guys for a long time and I love your content. It's just so relaxing to watch :)
Yup. I agree completely. There is one thing where you could be religious and go to church, but when it become your identity, something is wrong. I'm not mormon, but I know that they just go to other states or countries to try to endoctrinate more people in the church.. He could have gone to college instead.
@@cindyknows9220 Yeah and I'm all for religious freedom but this just feels like something else. I don't know if there are mormons here in Sweden where I'm from but we do have a pretty large community of Jehovas witnesses that pretty much do the same thing and most people hate them and think they're annoying. It's pretty sad in a way but some of them just don't take no for an answer. If you choose to live like that it's fine by me but when it's forced upon you it's just wrong. So many cases of people getting pushed away because they want to leave that life behind too :(
I am not a Mormon but it’s a service to others project one that would be beneficial to you all. It takes one out of their selfishness in an effort to help others.
@@shirrepoffer I'm going to try to explain, first going on a mission is a big decision, when the children decide they WANT to serve they start saving up their money over the years. Serving a Mission for Heavenly Father is a privilege for these young people, they don't consider it a "waste" of their time. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or any religion for that matter is not a "loss of identity", it's finding your identity! If anyone is a believer in Heavenly Father and Christ, you consider yourself a Child of God, it is your identity, they are in your DNA! There is no "indoctrination" of people, they are taught the lessons and asked to pray to find the truth for themselves, we are given Free Agency on this earth. I read on here one Mama preparing to send her son off to the Marines, he going to serve his country, his free will try sacrifice those years for us. Brevin is going to serve God for two years, he will then come home and still go to College. Missionaries serve all over the world and yes we have members and Missionaries in Sweden, you are welcome to look them up in your area if you have many questions. Missionaries also do service projects in their areas as needed for members and nonmembers. I hope this answered your questions!

I hope you can explain why people chose to go on a Mission? Some people do not understand it.
The decision to serve is probably different for everyone, but the religious practice of teaching the gospel to other “nations” is a pattern established by Jesus Christ as he prepared his disciples to go and do the same.

The suitcases are really great. The brand is dejuno.
Big changes. You’ve got this. Your youngest two will change a lot while he is moving on.
They will almost be unrecognizable when he gets home. They are both at the age of rapid growth and change in a matter of a year.
@@WhatAreWeDoing I saw that with another Vlog where the elder returned home to find his youngest brother had grown into his own person . Spencer could have the biggest adjustment.
When does brevin go to Brazil? I’ve heard talk about going to Boston then going to Brazil, but when does he actually get to fulfill his mission in Brazil?
He is temporarily reassigned to Boston until his visa application comes through. We are not sure how long that will take. In the meantime, there is a population of Portuguese speaking people in Massachusetts, so Brevin will be able to still work on learning the language.
Danny and tina from Phillips fambam thier son is almost done with his mission.

It is not a requirement, but Brevin has been planning to serve a mission for quite some time.
Serious question can he come home before the 2 years is up?
If he decided to come home before then or if there were other unforeseen circumstances to arise, then yes. He would be allowed to come home.
I think this will be the first time Brevin will be away from his family for an extended period of time.
You are right. The longest he has been away from home has been no more than a week. It will be an adjustment for all of us, that’s for sure!
Is Shari Franke good friends with Brevin?
They don’t really see each other much at all since she is at a different school. Occasionally I will run into her or (or a member of her family) around town, but it’s not very often.
Oh, wait. Spencer and Brevin won’t see each other for possibly 3 years.
If they overlap missions it could be four years before they see each other again. I don’t think it’s likely, though. Spencer can give his date of availability as a time after Brevin gets home. I think he will probably try and do that.
I hope Brevin gains some weight in these next two years! Brevin is to skinny! It’s like Brevin is going into the military!
It’s very likely he will. Jason looked exactly the same when he was 19-tall and very lean. I think we will see Brevin grow in more ways than one over the next year.
Why would you send him to a more poor country during a world pandemic?? Don’t you consider his health and risks? I do not mean to be rude, I am just being curious and trying to understand your motive.
He not going to Brazil yet. He going to Boston because of pandemic and then Brazil.
Those are very valid concerns, and the church takes them quite seriously. Brevin has been reassigned to Boston until he receives his visa and it is determined to be safe for him to go. Also, no missionary will be allowed out of the U.S. if they are not fully vaccinated.

Yes, men who are ordained to the priesthood are able to marry.
