    You sir are the real hero, couldn't find anything on speakers for the access cab, I bought mine slightly used with 10k miles and whomever owned it prior took the 6.5 speakers from the half doors, and both tweeters, unbeknownst to me until tinkering with the balancer/fader one day! Luckily I already own a pair of kicker 6x9s I had pulled from my jeep, but needed to purchase the remainder to complete my truck, Can't thank you enough for this video and the additional links!

      Glad to hear that you found this video helpful Colin! When I was filming this there weren’t any other access cab door speaker videos out there. All double cabs. Even the crutchfield instruction manuals were vague. Awesome that this video helped you out! Us access cab guys gotta stick together! 👍

    Huge difference in the before and after. I'm like you. Doesn't need to make my ears bleed. Just needs to sound good. I like my sound over volume. I love my Bose sound system at home because it sounds great and if I want to turn it up it still sounds great.

    • @GarageGear
      @GarageGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Whitie in Vermont you and I think alike! I hate it when music is so loud that everything starts vibrating in a car. Doesn’t sound good. I’m a bigger fan of clarity. Bose makes great stuff. I have a single speaker by them and even that sounds great!

    just got a 2019 access cab, planned on doing these upgrades, and you have by far the best instructional videos on how to do this. Keep making videos if you do any more upgrades! I plan on adding the "hidden" led bar mod behind the front bumper in the future 🤙

      👍 right there with ya Robert! The four door tacos have too small of a bed for my taste. I don’t drive anyone else around except the garage gal so I have no need for those extra seats. Long beds are great for hauling! Thanks for watching bud!

    Thanks for the video series, they are true time savers. I ran into the same issue as @Mountain Chief did with the access door plugs being different on my 2020 Tacoma looking like the Camry plugs. Instead of Amazon though, I did purchase the 6 1/2 's through Crutchfield (since the brackets and wiring harnesses were included with the speakers) and after talking with their tech support, they are sending out the plugs similar to the 2018 Camry.

    • @GarageGear

      Edward Dillon access cabs don’t seem to get the attention they deserve. I like the look of them almost better in my opinion! The four door has its place if you have a lot of passengers but if you don’t you’re just driving seats around and in that case I would go with the longer bed. Fit more stuff ya know!

I assume I could purchase the grills somewhere, but then I doubt my truck would have the speaker wires. I will pull the covers and take a look. That’s a good question! It sounds like you own a SR model? The mounts for the speakers may be there under the plastic door panels but you may not have speaker holes in the plastic panels. You could make/ cut your Own out or you may have to buy new panels. Not exactly sure what your situation looks like there. Thanks for checking out my channel David!

    A FEW THINGS:
    1. This is much harder than the front speaker install because putting the panel back on is ridiculous.
    2. Removing the side trim before removing the door cover might help, and it's not hard to put back on
    3. If you deform a red snapper just toss it, it's not worth the headache trying to make it fit
    4. Don't touch the seatbelt adjustment area. Seriously, it needs to fit right back on in the same position, so if you adjust it when the door is off you will regret it.
    I gave up trying to get the outer side back to perfect, those panels are BRUTAL. Seriously, take it slow

    • @GarageGear
      @GarageGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      FalcoCaliber this I think was definitely the trickiest of all the installs. Definitely need to go slow and take your time. I did warp a few red tabs in the process but they went back in fine. No issues with the seatbelt on mine. Did you do this on a 3rd Gen? Or an older model?

On top of that four the red fasteners fucking broke, completely unnecessary. Now I’m beginning to understand why people are saying quality of Toyotas are declining.
