Do yourself a favor and just remove the pillar covers. Getting the speaker out is OK, but trying to get it back in with the pillar cover on is super sketchy. Taking the pillar off only takes like 5 minutes. Not worth ruining your speaker covers over.
Thanks great vid, my tweeters blew by the second month that I got the truck. Found this video ordered the speakers from Amazon installed them in less than one hour. One difference was on the passenger side there was a sensor with a wire that made it a little difficult to work the cover around but got it done. When putting the pillar cover back on the passenger side make sure the upper tab goes in the slot. Again great vid much appreciation.

You need a difficulty rating scale for your mods, like 1 out of 5 wrenches on the difficulty meter. Although American Muscle uses Wrenches so maybe another tool?
I notice the back speakers don't hardly work at all and when I took it into the dealership they said that's the way it is. They are designed to be kind of a subwoofer. When you installed your new speakers, ( front and back) did they all work and did it make a huge difference?

The tweeters came out defective just over ride the tweeter filter with a straight wire to the tweeter only one cable needed will bring a lot of vocal sounds 5 times better
Anyone got any suggestions for tweeters/speakers in general that I can use in a 20 Tacoma with jbl system? I haven't been able to find any adapters for the plugs yet.
So replaced my tweeters today on my 2019 taco and I’d say it was 98 percent successful - for some reason the bolt cover on the top passenger pull handle wont sit back in flush - nothing seems broken but yet here we are - anyone know what specific part that cover would be that maybe I can just get a new one?
Have you had any transmission issues slipping consumers report rated it had bad issues have you heard anything about bad transmission issues with the Tacoma
I have before, it's actually really bad when it happens. It sounds horrible. When you are on a very steep incline, steep enough to make your truck roll back when you lift off the break, as you transfer from the brake to the throttle, it rolls back then it grinds and hesitates. My way that I found around this is pulling the emergency/parking break before you accelerate and slowly releasing it as you accelerate eliminates the chance of it happening. Another common issue you'll notice with the transmission is it's bad tendency to downshift on the highway from 6th to 5th very often. I recommend just putting it in S mode, and just putting it to 5th when cruising and drop to 4th when going up steep hills or passing. As far as gear shifting, it is really really smooth.

Great upgrade! Even my 62-year old ears can tell the difference! The sound is much brighter than stock at the same eq settings.

Not surprising! They are just cheap paper speakers. Pretty easy to replace...just tight with that back bolt👍

Found a great way to remove the windsheild facing bolt of the tweeter speaker upgrade. I found a 10mm Flex Ratchet wrench works wonders.

I think its a light sensor so when it gets dark the headlights turn on automatically.

Why is the link for Subaru speakers? I thought they were Kicker brand?
They are speakers used in the Subaru (made by Rockford Fosgate) that fit the Tacoma.
My 2016 tacoma with JBL doesn't have that connector. Not compatible with Subaru kicker tweeter. Bummer

The only oddity is the truck may start and then die after the first start. Start it again and all is good👍

They provide very little sound. With the addition of the Kicker tweeter you don’t really need anything else👍

I would say no. The tweeters are all you need. Unless you have a very sensitive ear, the others aren’t necessary. My rears are still stock.
