Thank you for your review! I purchased and an planning on using this curriculum with our youngest 4 children next year who are ages 7-12. Our 12 year old has already done a lot of history, so this may be a lighter history year for her. I plan to have her read lots of the extra books for the older students and she chose Jr. Anatomy from Guest Hollow too.
Anyhow, thank you! It’s hard to find reviews on this material from people who’ve actually used it vs. people who just purchased it!! ❤

I think adding more books will be great! I have never heard of Guest Hollow, but junior anatomy sounds really cool! I am going to look into that!

Thanks for sharing! I am thinking of using Kind Kingdom next year. I actually purchased it during a sale and have been watching other Peaceful Press curriculum videos to kind of get an idea for the flow. I wish I had done playful pioneers this year for American history.

Loved this review!!! It sounds so cute! Have you heard of A year of Tales? So cute as well! I am also doing An American Girl unit Study through Little School of Smiths. All so sweet!

Thank you for watching! I have not heard of that! I will definitely be checking that out. We love American Girl so I will need to take a look at that one too!

Is it only little house on the prairie books you need with the science and Bible books you mentioned? If I'm not using it as a whole curriculum could you do it with just little house books and do you need all of them?

Great question! If you are only using the curriculum for literature and some of the electives like art, poetry, cooking, then yes, you would only need the little house books. I feel for the most part all the extra books were needed for science, history, and Bible. We also used TH-cam for a lot of the read alouds that I forgot to get or didn’t find at the library. Here is a link to their booklist www.thepeacefulpreschool.com/the-playful-pioneers-cycle-2-book-list?rq=cycle%202%20book%20list&_gl=1*1c1bnbr*_ga*MTIxMTUyMDQ5MC4xNjUzNDg3MTEx*_ga_8SDBSLNP6D*MTY2NzMxMzE1Ny4xLjEuMTY2NzMxMzIxMi41LjAuMA..
      Hope that helps!

My girls (9 & 7) will be getting science and history once a week at a co-op. But I would love to supplement 1 or 2 days a week at home. Do you think I could use a curriculum like this and just move through it at a slower pace? I’ve never used a living books curriculum before, but I would love to bring in some richer books (something more substantial than the mermaids and fairies that they love to read 😂)

Oh yes for sure! It is so easy to adjust to what your family needs. Leave out parts you don’t need or double up on things you want to learn more about. The books are great!

So with the history, are there questions included to help facilitate? Or it's just reading the books and thats it?

Hi Nicole, for the most part it is reading the books and then having the child do the oral and written narration about what they learned. There may be a few questions during the month but it is not every time you do history. They do have a 1st semester and 2nd semester assessment that they send out that covers questions for everything your child has learned that semester.
So what we did was we would read the book and as we were reading I would keep in mind a few of the key things we were learning and then afterwards I would just ask them about those. Hope that was helpful!

This looks like such a beautiful curriculum. I have a K & 1st grader this year using TGATB. I’ve been looking for a living-book history for them for next year. And I came upon this curriculum. My very active boys will be in 1st & 2nd grade next year and I’m dying to buy this but I just don’t know if it’s really for them and their interests or if it’s for me and what I want.
How do you feel about young boys and this curriculum?

    • @Kelly_Mae

Also, would I still use TGATB for LA, math, and handwriting? That is really all we are using this year. We also used mystery science and read a few books about native Americans and American revolution but really didn’t work on history this year because they are so young. We also already own Jesus storybook Bible and the ology!

Hi there! My 2nd grade son really enjoyed it! I know they also say you can use the Little Britches book series which has been said to be the boy version of Little House. They say to use those books if you are doing another round of Playful Pioneers but I’m sure it would be fine the first round. That may appeal to your all boy family.
Correct, we added TGTB Math, Language Arts, and Handwriting. The Playful Pioneers does have handwriting practice but I wanted a little something more. Hope this helps!

How is it for all boys?

Do you think this curriculum would be good for Canadians?

    • @laurenashley-raisingwonder8112
      @laurenashley-raisingwonder8112  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

It is all American History. So if that is something you are interested I would recommend. I’m sure you could swap books out and add more Canadian History if you need that.
