It's not terrible-terrible, but next to the first movie, it was water down popcorn fluff. I will explain what happened in my "Fun Fact" section.
The best part of the movie, in my honest opinion, is the mirror monster fight. It forced Conan to think (remember he learned to read and write in the first movie) as well as use his strength.
Fun Fact: John Milius, the director of Conan the Barbarian (1982) was unavailable to direct this film. The studio took a more active role than they had on the first film, which led to some serious mistakes, according to Schwarzenegger in his latest autobiography. After the phenomenon of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), Universal thought this film would make more money if it were family entertainment. Schwarzenegger argued against this change but they overruled him. Director Richard Fleischer agreed with Schwarzenegger, but complied with Universal's wishes to make this sequel more like a comic book. Although it out-grossed the first movie, it didn't do as well in the US, because it was more family-friendly, just as Schwarzenegger and Fleischer feared. Both Schwarzenegger and Dino De Laurentiis washed their hands of the series, with Schwarzenegger opting to only do contemporary movies from now on. This, among many other factors, is why we never got a King Conan movie.
it's like a Conan comic book come to life. partly because the story was written by comic book writers, including Roy Thomas -- who started the modern Conan Craze with his Conan comics for Marvel in the early 70s.
I know it’s not a favorite of critics, but I love this movie. It came out when I was 15 or so, and I saw it repeatedly at the theater… at least partly because of Olivia d'Abo. 😍
Yeah, I actually enjoy this one more then the first....and Olivia is one of those reasons.

Interestingly the actor who plays the guard that Conan fights in the open meadow, where they both start on horseback when the princess is abducted briefly, is the same guy who played the hammer-wielding henchman in the first Conan movie. Thorgrim I believe was the name of the character in the first Conan movie.
I loved your reaction this was never an immensely great movie but I agree it’s a lot of fun to watch.
Bombaata is played by Wilt Chamberlain a famous professional basketball player back in the 60s and 70s…Zula Is played by Grace Jones a model/singer/actress who was very big in the 70s and 80s.
Conan the Barbarian: Character creation, level grinding and the main quest.
Conan the Destroyer: A DLC, side quests and additional NPC's join the team
The practical effects in many 80s movies were actually so good! Compared to bad cgi effects of today “decent” practical effects of yesteryear can be surprisingly good!
Conan later became the king of Aquilonia.
The books by Robert E Howard are amazing, pioneering sword and sorcery written in the 1930s, 40s etc. The movie version of Conan doesn't do the stories justice. Trust me you'll love them.
Its the kinda movie that i loved as a kid growing up in the 80's. Destroyer was the one they'd play on tv all the time. Conan the Barbrian i liked less cause its a much slower paced film. Once i was older like in my 20's I've since learned to appreciate Barbarian a lot more and is a superior film but Destroyer did what it was supposed to, which was try to broaden the appeal of the character with a more "adventure" tone than the first's super serious tone

It was pretty dungeons and dragons, There was a quest, a party including a wizard, a thief/rogue a warrior and of course the barbarian hero.
Watch this movie a few days ago the ending where the Native girl ask permission made me cry because her Village was destroyed and they had a place to go, I was drunk to
The monster dagoth, is played by Andre the giant, uncredited though. And the head of dagoth is done by Carlo rambaldi
The first film was an R Rated epic while this movie is supposed to show Conan as a kid friendly hero. It received mixed reviews by Critics, but made $32 million dollars against an $18 million dollar budget. Arnold was busy working on The Terminator after production had wrapped on Conan.
Not sure if anyone mentioned it in the comments, but the monster was played by Andre the Giant of WWF and The Princess Bride fame.

Best line is when Queen Taramis introduces herself to Conan with her titles n shit and his reply is simply “Not my Queen” his eyes are only for his Queen Valkryie Valeria! Yo and its crazy to see how much bigger Wilt Chamberlin is compared to Arnold. Grace Jones is Hot!!!

👏👏👏😁Bravo! Great reaction, Jordan. Question, though, would you ever watch Kull the Conquerer with Kevin Sorbo? It was actually meant to be another Conan movie before it got changed to another one of Robert E. Howard's characters due to Arnold refusing to return to play the role. I guess he felt Mr. Freeze in Batman and Robin was more dignified.

This movie was more like the comic book.
Wilt Chamberlin is the only BASKETBALL PLAYER TO SCORE 100 POINT IN A SINGLE BASKETBALL GAME. NOT Jordan, Bryant, ETC, could beat his record,
i cannot believe all the people talking about Olivia d'Abo the way they are....she was only 14 in this movie and they dressed her in WAY too revealing clothing....how is this legal?
My fave of the two. I don't like the first one it's to real sodomized dark. This one because of the witty and Conan's skinny side kick is why I enjoy this movie over and over the antics he makes and stuff like pretending to lift that door wall with Conan is what I live to watch for
Oh and by the way the acting on not here for acting I'm here for the witty, charm, aesthetics, whatever to any movie, they can act however poorly they want: movies.
And yeah the princess is way cute if she was my queen we'd never leave the master chambers
I enjoyed this better than the first, probably because of Grace Jones.
There was supposed to be a third called Conan the Conqueror but it kinda never happened.
It got shelved, reworked and after many years resurfaced as Kull the Conqueror with Kevin Sorbo as Kull/"Conan". It didn't do too well.

Ohh Now you should really watch Red Sonja on here! It also has Arnold Schwarzenegger in it but he doesn’t play Conan. But as a kid I thought it was in the same universe and WAS Conan lol

Okay I know you probably won’t see this, but I have never requested for someone to watch a video more than I’m about to request this one to you. You NEED to go watch “Overnight at Haunted Dracula’s Castle” by the channel “OVERNIGHT”
I have always been skeptical about the “other side” or ghosts, etc. But the amount of evidence they caught literally made me believe everything. I promise you will not be disappointed 🤞🏼

If this movie had the same budget as the first, an *R* rating and an older Princess (so they could use the original ending) , this would have been a better movie.
I still like it though.
