    I've got a 58kwh Born V3 (not e-boost), had it for 18 months (in Red 😁) - came from a mk7 Golf GTi.
    I really like it, it's quite quick, but it's definitely not a GTi 😂.
    I agree with you EVs have their limitations - THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT FOR EVERYONE 😂.
    The weather seriously affects range, my consumption has been ~3 m/kwh during the winter and ~4+ in summer - but with cheap overnight electricity that's still ~2p per mile.
    But, it did cost ~£900 to have a home charger installed.

    Great choice. My wife has the Born with the Michelin EV tyres and DCC and the handling is very good.

    A great review. I purchased a Cupra Born last year, and thus far I'm really liking it. I use it mainly for urban driving so the car suits my needs. The car is quick, smooth, comfortable, quiet and well built. Range is very good in the summer but you do notice a large drop in the winter, though the winter range is suitably usable.

    I am so far behind on videos it's unreal from constantly making videos. But last night, me and Alana put this on "the big telly" and can I give a big clap 👏 to the filming and editing of this video. Very nicely done.
    In our house, EV cars are a divide. Alana is the petrol head that hasn't quite come around to EV's just yet. Where-as I LOVE EV's and really enjoy the geeky and finer details of them. 😁
    Although we both do like those Cupras and do think that they look really nice. 👌 Hopefully at some point in the future, you can do a couple of laps around Knockhill because I think that would be a fascinating watch and could turn a few heads. 😁
    Alana's said out-loud at the end of the video when Emma did the hand to the camera, "I do that, that's what I do." So we agree that all the best people do the hand to the camera. 😄

    We find the charging infrastructure really good in our wee country of Scotland. There is a big EV charging station in Perth a smaller one in Dundee and numerous chargers around Aberdeen. We normally stop at Blairgowrie when we do the Snow Road over to Tarland & Banchory. When we go to Findhorn we stop in Perth or Pitlochry then Elgin. When we go to the borders we stop at Innerleithan or Moffat so maybe we are lucky in that where we go regularly we are well covered. I too am a Petrol Head but the performance of mine with AWD and 400 ps and air suspension and 325 watt surround sound with thirteen speakers, pan roof and 22" rims certainly makes up for the lack of engine & exhaust. If we can get over the drop in value of electric cars over the last eighteen months they are brilliant. We really mainly use ours for commuting and within a 200 mile round trip for home charging and not for trips home to Aberdeenshire in the snow and ice that it was bought for due to the range limitations. I think I would buy a PHEV the next time we are in the market for a car.

      We mostly charge at home or work as it’s mostly used for commuting but on longer trips to Glasgow or Edinburgh I’ve used the fast chargers in Dundee and they’re great with a place for a coffee next door.
      Will soon be trying out Edinburgh airports park and charge facility when taking a flight soon too.

      Great, we’ve got a Collie and it looked like he’d fit fine but reassuring to know! How’ve they coped with the boot lip? I’m wondering if it’s worth getting an extra bed/large cushion so it’s not such a drop on the inside.
      Thanks for that.

      @WolftraxRacing  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@richraymond5037 There’s not much of a drop inside, I didn’t spec the cargo pack so our boot floor isn’t raised up, so the dog has more room. We put a flat bed in the back for him and he’s comfy enough.

    Great video, good to get your perspective.
    Would you mind doing an additional review going into a bit more detail on the handling, especially the characteristics of the rear wheel drive and the back end stepping out? Is it still safe to push hard or would it catch people out that are used to front wheel drive?
    And may be a vid on how much range you get if you go out for an out and out thrashing in B roads for a few hours? 👍

    • @WolftraxRacing
      @WolftraxRacing  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As someone who's only ever owned FWD & someone who's fond of a spirited drive, the back end stepping out in non optimal contions (wet, greasy roads if you push it too hard into a corner) especially with the standard EV tyres it could catch you out. But it depends on the individual driver really and their experience and how in tune they are with any cars movements. When it's wanted to step out on me a handle of times it's been when I've pushed it so I'm expecting it to do it so can react to it.
      Based on our hobby and the rest of this channel, I'd like to think I could correct it if it was to take me by surprise. It also has a lot drivers aids that will assist you as well. I mostly turn these off but it also depends how you've spec'd the car.
      As for the range if you drive it in cupra mode and b mode which provides better braking, the range reduces as you'd expect. I typically drive it spirtidly as I'm usually late for something, so on a 30 min journey I could use say 25% of its range. However if you drive it gently (still at the speed limit) it'll often use less range than the distance you've actually driven.
      It's definitely a good all rounder and I still enjoying driving it everyday.

      Thanks for that, very useful! I’m so tempted by the v3 but I’m waiting for the VZ or possibly the id3 GTX but the cupra is edging it at the moment due to as you said the styling. But will wait to make my final decision when I see them both in reviews or in the flesh. 👍

    The ID.3 might look a bit bland but it performs very well and is more of a sleeper with it's less edgy styling.
    I agree though: the ID.3 is not a petrolhead's car, it's a family wagon.

  • @gesp5151

    The stated charging performance is 5-80% in 35 minutes on a 58(62) battery. So 75% of 58 is 43.5 so in 35 minutes it needs to average 75kwh over that range. The best I’ve ever achieved was 72 on ionity once - all this has been scheduled out to Listers and VWs solicitors in detail and none of my figures have ever been challenged at all! Not anything. Not one charge, one number: nothing. It simply doesn’t perform ever at that stated level. In contrast my BMW i4 just hits the numbers ever single time

      Don't know whether it was the charger, they were supposed to be ultra fast (Shell) - but the fastest I've gotten (only 4 public charges) was 50 kw/h ☹️.
      Fortunately, they were quick 20min top-ups to get home.

      @@louishiggins8881 Yes that’s much more what I got and I’ve photographed other Cupras in mid battery range on 350kwh chargers doing about the same. Bluntly it’s nothing like the technical specs say

      @@gesp5151 That was starting from ~40% battery capacity.
      Definitely believe that unless you have a home charger, EVs won't work.
