Ms. Buniatishvili is the definition of Class. At the end of her performance, she hurries to thank all of the soloists and leads in the orchestra before coming back and bowing to the audience herself. She then quickly askes the everyone to stand and takes another bow with Maestro Makela, acknowledging the group effort of all present. This, plus the beauty of the music itself, helps restore some of my faith in humanity.

I've heard this piece a hundred times. This was like hearing it for the first time. Blown away.

What never ceases to amaze me is that I used to have enough problems memorizing one stave of music performing the Mozart Clarinet concerto, yet pianists have to memorize FOUR staves of music! Technical genius combined with absolute pure musical and artistic virtuosity! I've seen and heard many performances of this work, and her emotional interpretation is amongst the best of them all. Watch closely and throughout the entire work she is frequently looking over at the other musicians in the orchestra, enjoying and admiring THEIR performance. WOW!
The feel of her emotion translates to the piano like few can do. Masterful work.
You better know your song well before entering the stage with all these musicians of the orchestra. Not to mention, the audience! And she sure does.
How Khatia plays with her eyes closed whilst playing the most difficult of piano concertos is breathtaking! True mastery! She is so IN it, her ‘flow’, it can only be the most intense feeling to play. Totally in awe!!! ❤

You know it's going to be a great video when it begins with the camera capture of mid range view, of her settling down into the piano stool, readying her posture, brushing back her curls , and looking up to the conductor as the audience applause is quieting,.
She fires off a squint and smile to the conductor. And like the down beat of the baton the producer/director cuts to the back camera view . We see, the maestro returns on cue, as if she's pulling the lanyard to begin firing all guns,. He nods towards her and slams the orchestra into gear. Game on. Plug in Socket. Action.

She plays it so beautifully. This concerto was the last piece I had started learning to play fifty years ago before I gave up playing the piano. I couldn't find two hours a day to practice any longer but it was fun. I got through the first 17 pages of the piece when I quit playing. Thanks Khatia, for mastering it..

Making music, together with other people, is something that has given me (at my own amateur level) pleasure beyond imagination. Just look at all the people involved in this performance. I can very well imagine what went on and how it felt!

Finally an opportunity for chads of the world to be interested in classical music. I myself just discovered 40 seconds ago i am in love with classical music. Classical music is so beautiful.

The expression, the passion, the mannerism, the technique, the musicality, the coordination are presented in this performance. Khatia is like none others.
Absolutely divine performance. I adore her.
If you take into account her laughably over-fast tempos in the middle of the 2nd movement and the coda of the 3rd movement, it's shocking, yes, but no more so than what she does at the ends of the Grieg and Rachmaninoff 2nd concertos. And, heaven help us, how can we hope to erase from our minds her maniacal, mindless execution of Prokofiev's "Precipitato" finale from his 7th sonata?
We know how capable she can be of playing with sensitivity and musical conviction. Why, then, does she allow herself to do the Lang Lang thing, that is, "You won't believe how fast I can barrel through this"? Does she mistakenly think that these speed-just-for-the-sake-of-speed outbursts add to the excitement felt by the audience? Perhaps it might be wise for Khatia and that Asian pianist to question their occasional temptation (tendency?) to over-indulge in sheer velocity. They are probably aware that today's enthusiastic (and somewhat uninformed) viewers are ready and willing to accept anything that reaches their ears and eyes, all the while exclaiming that they've "never heard (in the case of Lang, add the words 'or seen') a performance like it". But aware or not, they should certainly show more respect for the composers' indications.

I listened her performance of this concert several years ago. She has really grown a lot as an artist. I'm also Georgian and there is a huge debate among Georgian pianists (there are a few of strong Georgian artists) and critiques about her abilities and class. Eliso Virsaladze who is also very strong old school artist (th-cam.com/video/msBK0fS4iWI/w-d-xo.html) hates her. They really underestimate Khatia. Her performance is really lit!!!! I feel it to the core!!!!!!
