Massachusetts’s definition of “Thickly Settled” is when houses on a street are less than 200 feet apart for at least 1/4 mile. I’ve seen many of these signs and the speed limit is typically 30 mph. This “all request” video was fun to watch! I also enjoyed the Linkin Park riff at 19:23!
12:21 thank you!! I found this video interesting because I like hearing other people's little stories about why they chose these exits. Mine was the neighborhood where I grew up 😊 Edit to add: 23:44 - Steven Singer is a jewelry shop for wedding rings etc. and this has been their weird ad campaign for years 😂
For the Macon situation (27:52) I would just renumber basically all roads, but that's just me. I would reassign I-475 By pass as I-75. Then extend I-26 to the current Northern split of I-75/I-475 (exit 177) . With finally reassign the current I-75 section from the current Southern I-75/I-475 split (exit 156) to the I-26 interchange to a spur-route like I-175 (for example) Or even better, just swap I-75 with I-475 and the other way around.
US 27 ended at I-69 in Fort Wayne (which ended that highway going north) in about 2001. Looks like that sign held up well over those last 20 to 25 years. 26:05
Nice episode! And thanks for the Indiana 16 giveaway; I'd been going back and forth on whether to throw my old exit in, that made it easy :) I think that having a request episode every year or every six months or so would be good; it's kind of fun hearing all the little tidbits about my fellow viewers, especially on roads that will never get an episode of their own. (And apologies for being unclear in my email; the old middle school is north of the highway, you'd have to spin street view left to see it. Though ugly abandoned buildings are sadly not rare in that part of Akron.)
19:40 NJ resident here. He's not wrong. For how crowded 287 gets during the day, it's a drag strip at night. Whether I know this from experience is up in the air. Hyped for the full 287 video eventually.
18:34 This was the first exit I remember being on. It was about 20 miles away from the house I lived on at the time. To this day, this exit remains one of my favorite exits.
The Bourne Bridge!! My husband is from Cape Cod! That and the Sagamore Bridge are the two ways to get on the Cape - functionally, it's an island! Both of the bridges are getting on in age and they're discussing how to replace them. I recently saw a video where a guy managed to walk into the middle of that rotary and camp out for the night even though a police precinct is literally right there lol.
As someone who grew up in Atlanta, I too went to the Fernbank Science Center on field trips a lot lol. It is owned by the DeKalb County School System, so it was very easy to arrange those field trips there. The planetarium is really cool. There's also a neat forest in the back that we would walk through.
@@benmcclellan i live in the area. Technically, it is Naperville. Warrenville only comes down to Ferry Rd on Rt 59. Aurora begins at the Prairie Path about a mile west on 88.
21:27 it is the same way coming off I-80 eastbound at exit 64 to NJ 17 south, having to stop and yield from the left. Not as crazy as 46’s exit but still crazy and dangerous, I suffered too many close calls driving on 17 since some drivers don’t like to yield at all
Great work, sir. I see you have DerpHog and another kid from NC making control city style videos. The bird art work you pointed out on the Woobright Blvd exit on I-95 in Boynton Beach. As part of the I-95 road widening (Many years ago) , it included street lights and sound barriers. The barriers have artworks of birds, lighthouse, and others.
So, I’m the one who requested the NC 885/540 junction and since there was some confusion on your end about what I said in that request, I’ll clarify here. Basically, the latest Street View images are from December 2022 and are now outdated. Since then, the Sanford has been removed leaving Triangle Expressway alone on the sign. And even with Sanford, that’s probably not what I would sign it for since it’s not actually on 540. I would either sign one of the suburbs actually on the route or sign Wilmington since 540 is a great bypass of 40 through Raleigh with the recent extension.
I saw an 8 foot clearance bridge one time and thought that was really pushing it but good lord that one at the end is unreal. Even walking I'd have to duck to go under it.
Regarding the ID 77 Spur ending, I have one that might rival it -- the east end of CA 299 at the Nevada border. It meets the west end of former NV 8A. This route was so remote that when it was decommissioned in 1976, the Nevada DOT didn't even bother removing the signs. Looking east, there is still an old-style NV 8A sign on the Nevada State Line sign. For California's part, there is a Modoc County mileage blade sign (milepost 66.63) at the state line, a westbound CA 299 sign and a Welcome to California sign. The pavement ends right at the state line.
I figured this would be as good a place as any to share an interesting list that I’ve compiled. These are the metropolitan areas of the continental United States (thus excluding Alaska and Hawaii) where the biggest city doesn’t have an Interstate Highway serving it (regular or spur). I was going to be quite strict depending on whether a highway enters the city limits, but I’ve decided to give some leeway. Specifically, if an Interstate can deposit a motorist into the city limits within one mile of an exit, then I will count that city as being directly served by the Interstate system. I will be dividing this list into three degrees of neglect. 3rd degree means the Interstate doesn’t serve the biggest city, but does serve one with a population of greater than half that of the primary city. 2nd degree is the same, except with the smaller city being less than half the size of the main city. In both of these cases, I will have in parentheses the largest city that does get served by an Interstate. 1st degree means that the core of the metro area isn’t served by an Interstate at all. Now let’s get to the list. The list is by order of increasing population, so the latter entries will correspond to major population areas. 3rd: Amherst Town, MA (Northampton) 162.5k Muskegon, MI (Norton Shores) 177.6k Blacksburg, VA (Christiansburg) 180.7k Lake Havasu City, AZ (Kingman) 226.5k Trenton, NJ (Hamilton Township) 381.6k East Naples, FL (Golden Gate) 411.1k Kiryas Joel, NY (Middletown) 705.1k 2nd: Twin Falls, ID (Jerome) 122.2k Manhattan, KS (Junction City) 132.3k Wausau, WI (Kronenwetter) 139.3k State College, PA (Ferguson Township) 158.1k Vero Beach South, FL (West Vero Corridor) 172.3k Racine, WI (Mount Pleasant) 197.3k Tyler, TX (Lindale) 248.4k Greeley, CO (Windsor) 368.6k Reading, PA (Cumru Township) 434.1k Wilmington, NC (Leland) 480.3k Lancaster, PA (Rapho Township) 560.5k Cape Coral, FL (Fort Myers) 846.8k 1st: Eagle Pass, TX 57.9k Enid, OK 62.1k Lewiston, ID-WA 65.6k Grand Island, NE 76.6k Stillwater, OK 84k Kokomo, IN 84.1k Hinesville, GA 91.3k Dubuque, IA 99.1k Victoria, TX 99.4k Hot Springs, AR 99.6k Ithaca, NY 102.8k Sumter, SC 104.4k Mankato, MN 104.6k Pinehurst, NC 108.3k Muncie, IN 112.5k Steubenville, OH-WV 112.9k San Angelo, TX 120.8k Farmington, NM 120.8k Sierra Vista, AZ 123.8k Wenatchee, WA 125.3k Napa, CA 132.1k Eureka, CA 133k Albany, GA 145.2k Sherman, TX 150.6k Hanford, CA 152.4k Vineland, NJ 153.3k Dothan, AL 154.2k Florence, AL 156.5k The Villages, FL 158.4k Logan, UT 160.5k Homosassa Springs, FL 170.9k Yuba City, CA 184.4k Dover, DE 191.8k Houma, LA 197k Chico, CA 207k California, MD 210.7k Jacksonville, NC 218.3k Panama City, FL 222.1k Athens, GA 223.8k Barnstable Town, MA 231.4k Bluffton, SC 236.9k Prescott Valley, AZ 251.9k Santa Cruz, CA 258.9k Bend, OR 263.7k Lynchburg, VA 266k Bremerton, WA 277.5k San Luis Obispo, CA 281.2k College Station, TX 285.1k Merced, CA 293.6k Boulder, CO 326.3k Egg Harbor Township, NJ 368.9k Myrtle Beach, SC 411.8k Salinas, CA 428.6k Santa Maria, CA 438.6k Santa Rosa, CA 481k Visalia, CA 481.1k Modesto, CA 551.6k Oxnard, CA 826.3k Fresno, CA 1.1844M Let me know which ones you think have the least amount of excuses for not having an Interstate…

True, but to be fair the Royals and the Sox like to take the occasional decade + off from contention. In 1993 and 2003 when both were decent, there was some real hatred.
21:05 First off NJ 17 South Newark is a horrible control city. If you're coming Westbound there is very little reason to take 17 South unless you're going to something on 17. The Cubs are my NL team. They were my grandpa's team and I lived a few blocks from Wrigley in the Wood/Prior era. Plus, Royals and Cubs fans can agree on disdain for the Sox and the Cards
@@ControlCityFreak I think the Sox & Cards both despise the Cubs more than the Royals though.
True, but to be fair the Royals and the Sox like to take the occasional decade + off from contention. In 1993 and 2003 when both were decent, there was some real hatred.

Edit : are you going to do The New Jersey Turnpike?
he did i95 so idk
21:05 First off NJ 17 South Newark is a horrible control city. If you're coming Westbound there is very little reason to take 17 South unless you're going to something on 17. So It should be signed East Rutherford or even Secaucus would be better than Newark
Also Royals vs the Yankees... Let's go Royals..sincerely a Mets Fan 😁
23:54 Steven Singer Jewelers.. guy bought a 20th Anniversary ring from SS Jewelers and it led to a unplanned pregnancy. The husband expressed his hatred in store and the store figured this would peak peoples interest I guess.
